Chapter 123: 0123
“Mira,” Mila called softly as she stopped near the bed, pretending to sound concerned. But Mira did not answer her. She did not even bother lifting her head. She simply continued crying weakly, too broken to care about anyone around her anymore. Seeing herself being ignored immediately annoyed Mila deeply. Her eyes darkened with irritation as she clenched her jaw tightly. She remembered clearly what the old witch had told her: Mira must look directly into her eyes while she recited the spell, or it would not work properly. Mila inhaled deeply, forcing herself to calm down before she lost patience. She knew she had to play smart. She had even thought about exposing Mira as a witch to Asher, but she quickly realized it would not work. Asher had fallen too deeply in love with Mira. He would never believe such accusations without proof. And since no one had ever seen Mira using magic openly, Mila decided killing her was the easiest solution instead.
Taking another deep breath, Mila forced a fake, gentle expression onto her face and slowly sat beside Mira on the bed. “Mira… I know we have never gotten along well,” Mila began softly, pretending to sound emotional. “But I came here to apologize. I am sorry for everything I have done to you all these years. Please… forgive me.” Her voice sounded sweet and harmless, but deep inside, she was boiling with hatred and impatience. Still, Mira continued ignoring her completely, crying painfully into her hands as if she had not even heard a single word. Mila’s fake smile instantly twitched in anger, seeing her plan fail again.
“Mira,” Mila tried again, forcing herself to sound sweeter. “We are sisters. We can still become a happy family again if you forgive me. Everything can change between us.” She stretched her hand toward Mira’s shoulder, pretending to care, while secretly waiting for Mira to finally raise her face and look into her eyes. But instead, Mira only sobbed harder.
“Leave me alone…” Mira cried, her voice shaking badly. Even though she felt confused by Mila’s strange behavior, she was far too exhausted emotionally and physically to think deeply about it. All she wanted was her son back. Nothing else mattered anymore.
At that moment, Mila finally lost her patience completely. Rage exploded inside her chest, seeing that Mira still refused to look at her. She knew Asher could walk into the room at any moment, and she could not waste any more time pretending to be kind. Her face twisted with hatred as she suddenly grabbed Mira harshly by the neck and forced her head upward. Mira gasped painfully from the sudden grip, her weak body too exhausted to fight back properly.
“You ugly witch,” Mila hissed hatefully while forcing Mira to stare directly into her eyes.
Mira’s breathing instantly stopped for a moment. Fear flashed across her tearful face hearing those words. Her heart pounded inside her chest as terrible thoughts rushed through her mind. Mila knew. Somehow… Mila had discovered her secret. Fear immediately swallowed Mira whole because the only thing worse than death right now was Asher finding out she was a witch and hating her for it.
Seeing the fear on Mira’s face made Mila laugh cruelly. “You thought I would never find out, huh?” Mila mocked coldly. “You thought your disgusting secret would stay hidden forever? Father hated you because you were cursed from birth. You were nothing but a useless mistake.” Her grip around Mira’s neck tightened painfully as hatred burned in her eyes. Years of jealousy and bitterness poured out of her like poison.
“But don’t worry,” Mila continued. “I will send you your son very soon since you miss him so much.”
The moment Mira heard those words, her entire body froze instantly. Her tearful eyes widened in horror as she stared at Mila. “You… you know where Zane is?” she managed to ask weakly, her voice trembling badly.
A wicked smile spread across Mila’s lips. “Oh yes, dear sister,” she whispered proudly. “I know exactly where your precious son is. He is in the grave… and that is exactly where I am sending you too.”
Mira felt her entire world shatter again, hearing those horrifying words. Her heart clenched so painfully she could barely breathe. “What did you do to my son?” she screamed, suddenly struggling harder against Mila’s grip despite her weakness.
“What he was destined to do to me,” Mila shouted hatefully. “You think I would sit back and wait for that prophecy to come true? You think I would let your son grow up and kill me?” Her face twisted with madness as tears of rage filled her eyes. “No! I had to kill him first!”
Mira’s eyes filled with uncontrollable fury and heartbreak. “I swear I will kill you, Mila!” she screamed painfully while trying desperately to push her away.
“But guess what?” Mila smirked wickedly. “I was not even the one who killed him. Someone else did it for me. At least his blood is not directly on my hands.”
Mira’s body shook violently with rage and pain. At that moment, hatred unlike anything she had ever felt before exploded inside her chest. Her witch powers almost reacted from the intense emotions burning through her soul. But before she could do anything, Mila quickly pulled out the folded spell paper from inside her clothes.
“Too late,” Mila whispered.
She unfolded the paper slowly while staring directly into Mira’s eyes and began whispering the deadly spell under her breath. The air inside the room suddenly turned cold and heavy as dark energy slowly began forming around Mila. Mira’s heart pounded in fear as she realized something terrible was happening.
But suddenly
The bedroom door burst open.
“Mommy!”
Both women froze instantly. Mila’s eyes widened in shock, hearing the familiar little voice. Her entire body turned cold as she slowly turned her head toward the doorway. The moment her eyes landed on Zane standing there alive, her breathing stopped completely.
Zane stood at the entrance staring at them with tearful. A strange silver glow surrounded his tiny body, and the moment his eyes locked with Mila’s.
A blinding silver light exploded out from Zane’s eyes, and the powerful force struck Mila before she could even react.
“AHHHHH!”
