Chapter 245

~ Jason ~

A few months passed like a beautiful dream.

The darkness that had once surrounded our lives was finally gone, and the Moon Pack was stronger than ever.

Peace had returned.

We had all graduated from high school and were now getting ready for the next chapter of our lives—college.

As for me, I couldn’t wait to finish college as fast as possible.

Not because I hated school. But because I wanted to marry Kiara.

Even though the Moon Goddess had already blessed us as true mates, I still dreamed of giving her the grand wedding she deserved.

The best part was that we had both been accepted into the same university.

That meant I wouldn’t have to spend a single day away from my mate.

Marcus and Jasmine had also been blessed by the Moon Goddess as true mates, and seeing the two of them together made our little family feel even more complete.

“Jason, what exactly are you daydreaming about that's keeping you from touching your food?” Grandma’s voice broke through my thoughts.

I blinked, realizing I had been staring blankly at my plate. The rest of the family scattered around the grand dining table paused, turning their heads to look at me with knowing grins.

Jasmine leaned over, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips. “He’s obviously thinking about Kiara, Grandma. Kiara is way more important to him than eating breakfast.”

I rolled my eyes at my sister and quickly stuffed a forkful of food into her mouth before she could say another word. Jasmine glared at me while chewing.

The cheerful mood lasted for only a moment. Then Gab cleared his throat.

Everyone turned to look at him.

“I actually have something deeply important to share with you all,” Gab said, his gaze sweeping across the table, looking at each of us in turn.

Mom paused, placing her fork down and smiling at him. “What is it, honey?”

Gab took a deep breath, steeling himself. “Uhm... the thing is, I will be leaving for the human world. I’m going in search of my biological mother.”

The moment the words left his mouth, the entire dining hall fell silent.

No one said a word. Even the sound of forks and knives against the plates stopped as everyone stared at him in complete shock.

Dad lowered his head, a deep frown forming on his face. Worry filled his eyes.

“Do you not like it here with us anymore, Gab?” he asked quietly. “Is our world not enough for you?”

“No, Dad!” Gab answered immediately, his voice full of emotion. “That’s not true at all. I love it here. I love this family, and I’ll always be grateful for everything you’ve given me.”

He paused, taking a shaky breath.

“But I still have to find her. Lucious forced himself on my human mother, and I was born because of that terrible crime. She has carried that pain alone for years. She probably hates those memories… maybe even hates me and she may hate the werewolf world because of what happened to her.”

Gab swallowed hard before continuing.

“So I have to go to her. I want to help her heal, to let her know she’s not alone anymore, and to help take away even a small part of the pain she’s been carrying all these years.”

Grandpa cleared his throat and nodded slowly, a look of respect on his face.

“That’s a noble decision, son,” he said. “To be honest, Ryder and I were already planning to go to the human world to look for Sandra ourselves. But if you’ve decided to do it, then I support you. I believe it’s the right thing to do.”

Mom’s eyes filled with tears.

“But, Gab,” she said, “you don’t know anything about the human world. You were raised in the werewolf world. I’m scared you’ll get hurt or get lost over there.”

Gab stood up from his chair and walked over to her. He gently took her trembling hands in his, giving them a comforting squeeze.

“Have you forgotten who I am, Mom?” Gab asked with a gentle smile as he squeezed her hands. “I’m half-human too. So please don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. I’ll fit in, learn how things work, and find my way.”

A lump formed in my throat as I looked at my older brother.

“Gab…” I said, my voice trembling. “Are you ever coming back to the pack?”

“Of course I’ll come back, Jason!” Gab said with a laugh, instantly easing the tension in the room. “I’m only going to make peace with my mother. I’m not leaving this family. Besides, I don’t think I can survive without Grandma’s amazing cooking.”

Grandma smiled proudly before raising an eyebrow with a playful look.

“Then let me ask you something,” she said. “What if you find your true mate in the human world? Will you still come back to us?”

Gab went quiet, and an embarrassed smile spread across his face. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

“Now that’s a really difficult question,” he admitted.

“I bet a thousand credits that he’ll come back for good!” I said with a big grin. “Gab can’t stay away from us for long. He loves us too much.”

“No chance,” Jasmine said with a teasing smile. “Jason, I’ll take that bet. I think he’ll find his mate, build a life in the human world, and only come back to visit us during holidays.”

Dad let out a laugh, leaning back in his chair as he looked at us. “Okay, fine! Whoever wins this sibling bet, I will personally grant one of their wishes.”

“So, Gab, when exactly are you leaving for the human world?” Grandma asked.

“I will be leaving tomorrow before sunset,” Gab answered, walking back to his chair and sitting down.

Mom suddenly stood up, her face completely serious. “I will go arrange my bags right now. I am coming with you.”

Everyone at the table turned to stare at her in complete shock.

Gab blinked, clearly surprised, before a smile spread across his face.

“Mom, are you really going to leave Dad here all by himself?”

“Of course,” Mom replied with a straight face as she sat down. “He’s a grown man. I’m sure he can take care of himself for a few months.”

Dad quickly turned to Mom, his eyes wide as he searched her face, trying to figure out if she was joking.

“No way!” he said, placing a hand on his chest. “That’s never happening.”

He leaned over and planted a loud, exaggerated kiss on Mom’s cheek.

“I’m never letting my wife go anywhere without me. Wherever she goes, I go. Even if it’s to the ends of the earth!”

“Awwww!” Jasmine, Gab, and I shouted together.

We started banging our hands on the wooden table, laughing as we sang loudly and completely off-key just to tease them.

“Thiiis is loooove!” we sang at the top of our lungs, making fun of their sweet moment.

To make it even worse, Grandpa and Grandma burst into laughter and joined us, singing just as loudly and just as off-key.

“Alright, alright, that’s enough!” Mom said, laughing as her cheeks turned bright pink. She playfully nudged Dad with her shoulder.

“I was only joking. I’m not going anywhere. The truth is…” She smiled and slipped her hand into Dad’s. “I can’t even stand being away from you for a single minute, my love.”

Dad’s expression softened immediately.

He gently took Mom’s hand and helped her to her feet. Then he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close. As they looked into each other’s eyes, it was as if the rest of us disappeared.

“My baby girl,” Dad said, his voice filled with emotion. “Thank you. Thank you for choosing to walk through this crazy life journey with me. Thank you for always standing by my side, even when life was at its hardest.”

He smiled through the emotion in his eyes.

“You loved me without conditions. Through the sleepless nights… through the fear and pain Lucious caused us… you never left me. You were always my greatest strength.”

He gently wiped a tear from her cheek.

“I will love you forever. You’ll always be my baby girl.”

Tears quietly rolled down both their faces as they stood there, lost in each other.

Mom gently cupped Dad’s face with both hands, her eyes full of love.

“Thank you, my Alpha,” she whispered as tears slipped down her cheeks. “You brought light into my life when everything was dark. Walking beside you has been the greatest blessing of my life.”

She smiled through her tears.

“And I promise to stay by your side for the rest of our lives. No matter what happens, we’ll face it together.”

Then Mom leaned forward and kissed Dad deeply.

It was such a loving, heartfelt kiss that it was obvious they had completely forgotten the rest of the family was still sitting there watching them.

Gab sniffled from his seat and quickly wiped a tear from his cheek.

“No… I’m definitely not crying,” he said, forcing a smile. “There’s just dust in my eyes.”

“Same here,” Jasmine said, blinking away her own tears as she watched the touching moment.

Grandma chuckled warmly as she stood up and waved toward the door.

“Alright, everyone, up you go,” she said with a grin. “Let’s give these two lovebirds some privacy. I think they need it.”

We all smiled, pushed back our chairs, and made our way out of the dining hall.

Before I left, I looked back one last time.

Mom was still in Dad’s arms, her face bright red as she buried it against his chest while Dad held her close.

I smiled.

The war was over. The pain was behind us. We had survived every trial that came our way.

We were finally whole.

THE END.
