Chapter 70: The plane

Imogen's pov

"How are you feeling," I asked as I walked closer to the bed and Adam walked with me

"Are you feeling hungry?" Adam asked and his father pulled himself up as he sat up on the bed

"I'm fine," He said and I checked on him to see if he was doing fine and he was indeed fine

"You're recovering fast and with the pace at which you're recovering fast, you will be discharged soon," I said and I saw the wide smile on Adam's face, I was glad too, I only had one thing to do and that was to get my children back from Maxwell today

"Imogen, you can go home and rest, I'm fine, you and Adam can go home and relax for a while," He said

"No, I'm fine, I'll have to stay in the hospital till dusk and hopefully you'll be discharged tomorrow morning," I said because he was healing ten times faster than how humans heal

"Okay," He said she he smiled at me, I could see that he was thankful and I was glad that I could help and I was able to prove my life to him but most times when I think about it, I felt hurt because I had to prove myself worthy of his love while maggie didn't, her parent's influence has already proven that she's the right match for him and then she betrayed him

I sighed and excused myself, I went to my office and buried myself in my work and then my door flew open and I saw Harper run into my office

"There's an emergency," Harper said I stood up from my chair and ran out of the office with her and we made our way to the emergency room. It was a really bad accident and they were all badly injured, as soon as they were placed on the hospital bed I started attending to one of the patients, and a few other doctors attended to other patients

The patients were badly injured, and after hours we were almost done attending to everyone, I stretched my hands forward trying to relax my body because I was so tired but I was also glad that I could help

We were finally done and we didn't lose any of the patients, I smiled and then made my way to my office, I entered my office and sat on my chair, I rest my head on the desk and closed my eyes. I plan to go to Maxwell's office later today so that we could talk and get would hand my kids over to me

"Why should I waste time," I said as I stood up and made my way down the hallway to his office, I knocked on the door and no one responded, I tried opening the door but the door was locked and then I felt someone tap mr from behind, it was a nurse

"Are you looking for your husband?" She asked, her words like a knife that cut through my skin, Maxwell was my husband but not anymore, for some reason, I felt hurt but I did a good job of hiding my expression

"Yes, is he in his office," I said after finding my missing words

"No, he is not, he left his office this morning," she said

"Why don't you call him" she suggested

"Yeah I will" I responded and she left, I walked back to my office and dialed Maxwell's number

"Hello," I said as soon as he picked up the call

"Imogen," He said

"Maxwell I need the children back," I said, I had no time to beat around the bush so I went straight to the point

"Oh, now you've decided," Maxwell said I didn't fail to hear the mocking in his voice

"Yes, I have and I need them back, I'm tired of staying days without seeing them and I know they want to see me too and I also know that they want to see their biological father," I said

"I'm their father Imogen and they grew up knowing me, I'm glad that you didn't let me make that mistake the other day," He said

"What do you mean," I asked

"You told me to hold the children for a while, I'm glad you said so because I would have regretted giving them back to you," Maxwell said and my heart began to race fast, I hope Maxwell isn't going to hold the kids back again, oh my goodness! What have I done?

"Maxwell stop all this drama and bring my kids along with you to the hospital so that I can take them," I said

"I knew this would happen as soon as the surgery was done and right now our plane will leave in 2 minutes, I have to end the call now, bye," He said and he ended the call.

"What... What are saying, Maxwell... Hello?" I said, I was feeling so terrified, and without thinking, I ran out of my office and went to Adam.

"Can I borrow your keys?" I asked trying my best to be calm, I didn't want to tell him anything and I also don't want him to suspect anything

"Yes, is anything the problem," He asked

"No, I'm fine, I just want to get something," I said and took the keys from him, I didn't bother to hear his reply before I briskly walked out of the room and made my way to the parking lot, I entered I his car and drove straight to the airport, I knew that their plane must have gone but deep down I hoped I was wrong

I got to the airport and just as I expected, I couldn't find Maxwell anywhere and years fell from my eyes, I didn't know what I was going to say to Adam, I couldn't fight the tears from falling from my eyes and it hurts so much that I had so shoulder to rest on, I had an opportunity to take them from him and I let it slide
