Chapter 217: Solution

Abigail's death didn't cause the slightest emotional ripple for Olivia and Frederick.

Because all their attention was focused on Chad, the mastermind behind everything.

Olivia quickly reviewed all the clues.

But she couldn't figure out what exactly Chad was trying to do.

Soon, Olivia had Connor start investigating.

Before long, Connor arrived with complete investigation materials.

"Boss, Chad isn't hard to investigate. It's just that you two don't follow overseas royal news, so you didn't know."

Through Connor's introduction, Olivia learned the truth.

In everyone's usual impression, royal heirs with great power are mostly arrogant and indulgent.

But in his youth, Chad was recognized as the perfect person.

He was neither arrogant nor rash, didn't indulge in luxury, and compared to other dissolute royal children, he was clearly a breath of fresh air.

At twenty, Chad met a woman by chance and fell for her at first sight. Despite strong opposition from the royal family, he insisted on breaking through class prejudice and married her as his queen.

After marriage, he showered her with love, devoted all his resources to his wife, accommodating her in every way and protecting her completely.

He turned a marriage no one believed in into a celebrated story throughout the noble circles.

Soon after marriage, the queen gave birth to a daughter.

It should have been a joyful occasion for the whole family, but unfortunately, fate had other plans.

The queen had a weak constitution and developed an incurable condition. After two years bedridden, she passed away. The only little princess inherited her mother's recessive disease and developed an extremely rare genetic blood disorder.

The only hope for survival was to find bone marrow with extremely high genetic compatibility for transplant.

From then on, Chad, who had once been prominent and active in all major elite occasions, completely changed.

He withdrew from all royal duties and noble social events, spending all his manpower and resources searching through global bone marrow banks and genetic sample databases.

Years passed, but he still couldn't find a bone marrow donor with adequate compatibility.

The little princess's condition could only be barely maintained with medication, struggling daily on the edge of life and death.

Hearing this, Olivia's eyes narrowed slightly.

Everything connected now.

Abigail wasn't just a simple pawn, but a "living vessel" Chad had carefully selected for his daughter.

"Abigail's genes should be highly similar to his deceased queen."

Connor immediately responded: "Yes, the similarity is over ninety percent. Chad probably believed that a child born from Abigail would have bone marrow that could perfectly match the little princess and cure her stubborn disease."

Olivia nodded slightly, everything now crystal clear.

After speaking, Connor glanced at Frederick beside him.

Seeing Connor's troubled expression, Olivia said:

"Speak directly."

Connor handed Olivia a photo: "This is a photo of his deceased queen."

Olivia looked and was quite surprised.

This woman had the exact same eyes as her!

No wonder...

All of Chad's actions stemmed from obsession.

But this was actually good - at least it gave Olivia a solution.

One day later.

Olivia drove alone to Monica's villa.

The villa was quiet and peaceful, far from the city's noise, with lush vegetation.

Monica had already heard of Olivia's visit and was personally waiting in the courtyard.

"My benefactor, what brings you here today?"

Olivia got straight to the point:

"I came to ask you a question. Suppose a woman has been imprisoned long-term, mentally depressed, severely deficient in vital energy and blood, with damaged internal organs, relying on medication to forcibly maintain bodily functions for years. In this physical state, could she give birth to a fetus that's healthy and genetically sound? Could the fetus meet the high standard compatibility requirements for bone marrow transplant?"

Hearing this, Monica's expression immediately became serious. She frowned slightly, pondered briefly, then said with certainty:

"Absolutely impossible. Medical means can indeed help her safely give birth now, but such a fetus would be lucky just to survive. It couldn't even guarantee normal growth and development, let alone meet the strict standards for bone marrow transplant."

These words completely confirmed Olivia's suspicion.

It seemed Chad's entire plan was fundamentally flawed from the start.

The life-saving hope he obsessively believed in never existed.

This also meant that Chad's little princess still hadn't received effective treatment and remained critically ill with her stubborn disease.

Olivia's eyes darkened as she looked up at Monica:

"With your medical skills, can you cure rare genetic blood disorders?"

Monica pondered for a moment, frowning: "Without seeing the patient, I can't guarantee one hundred percent, but I've been researching this rare genetic disease for nearly ten years. I'm sixty percent confident I can completely cure it."

She paused, then added: "However, the treatment process requires a specific medication. Without it, all treatment is just empty talk - at most it can temporarily prolong life, but can't eliminate the root cause."

"What medication?" Olivia pressed.

Monica said: "XF compound."

Olivia's eyes flickered slightly, a trace of emotion crossing her face.

If she remembered correctly, this medication hadn't been released yet and was only held by a few reclusive medical families.

Extremely rare, with very limited supply.

But coincidentally, Connor had just dealt with them a few days ago, and she knew what could be traded for it.

Though the price would be quite heavy.

"Then I'll trouble you to make a trip with me to personally treat the patient," Olivia said immediately.

Seeing her confident expression, Monica knew she must be fully prepared. Without any hesitation, she agreed: "Alright."

Olivia called Chad.

A tired voice came from the other end.

"Who is this?"

Olivia spoke directly:

"Chad, this is Olivia. I can cure your daughter's illness."

Sudden silence on the other end.

Extreme shock flashed through Chad's eyes, his heart surging with waves.

He never expected Olivia would suddenly call.

Even less did he expect it would be about his daughter.

However, having searched for famous doctors for years without success, he didn't believe Olivia could have a solution.

But now, in his desperate situation, even with just a thread of hope, he didn't dare miss it.

Chad suppressed the shock in his heart. "Ms. Shaw, what makes you so certain you can cure her?"

Olivia didn't bother with extra explanations.

"I'm coming to visit now."

Chad was silent for a long time, finally agreeing in a low voice: "Alright. I'll send someone to pick you up."

The next morning, Olivia boarded a plane with Monica.

Soon, the plane landed in front of a magnificent villa.

In the main living room, Chad sat in the main seat. Although wearing a well-tailored black suit, the bloodshot in his eyes was particularly striking.

"Ms. Shaw, you should understand a father's heart. I hope this isn't a joke."
