Chapter 157: Her birthday
“Why are you looking at Aurora like that, Adrian?” Clinton asked him because his gaze was steadily fixed on Aurora.
“Because I’m realizing for the millionth time how much of a fool I was to let her go. Now my brother is the one with her and not me.”
Clinton sighed because he was tired of hearing this “You have to move on now, Adrian. You really have to move on.”
“I know, but it’s hard.”
Clinton looked towards Aurora. He noticed Marcel was staring in their direction.
“You should stop staring. Marcel already noticed, and from the look on his face, he doesn’t like it. I mean, nobody will like it when another person stares at their girlfriend like that.”
Adrian looked at Marcel. “I can’t help it, Clinton. She is alive and well after what happened, and it’s the first time I’m seeing her after the court hearing. I’m just glad she is okay.”
Adrian saw them getting up to leave. He saw Marcel hold Aurora’s hand, but she pulled his hand away.
“It seems they are fighting.” The thought of it made him happy, but he knew it was just a temporary fight.
“Seems like they are leaving,” Clinton said.
Adrian’s gaze followed them until they were out of sight. He sighed.
“I think it’s good they left. If not, you guys would have ended up fighting. It’s weird, though, how you both never get along. You guys are brothers. The death of your father should have brought you people close, but it didn’t,” Clinton said.
Adrian shook his head “I and Marcel can never be close, not in this life,” he said. He knew this. The fact that his mother was the woman their father had cheated on with would make Marcel never get along with him.
“So now we are back to the regular section,” Robin said.
Charlie signaled for him not to say anything because Marcel was not in a good mood after seeing Adrian.
Robin became silent. The silence became awkward.
Sandy held Aurora’s hand “Aurora, let’s take pictures to save as memories.”
Aurora smiled and nodded. They went to take pictures and videos as they danced.
“The regular isn’t that bad,” Davin, who has been quiet, said.
Robin and Charlie looked at him in surprise and signaled for him not to say anything.
Davin frowned at them “What is it? I should not talk because Marcel will be annoyed? He should just admit it. His girlfriend was right when she said we should come to the regular section, but he refused. And because he saw his competitor, he decided to come to the regular,” Davin said in annoyance before walking away.
Robin and Charlie looked at Marcel, but he said nothing.
His hands were just in his pockets, and he was looking at Aurora dancing with Sandy.
“She is having fun,” Harrison said “Why don’t we go get a drink and join them? We should have fun because we don’t know when we will be in the club again,” Harrison said.
“Lead the way then,” Marcel said.
Harrison nodded and led the way to the bar.
Robin sighed in relief. “Marcel is back in his good mood. Thank goodness he did not fight with Adrian.”
They had so much fun drinking and dancing. Marcel did not allow Aurora to drink too much. And when it became very late, they left.
“I’m glad this outing ended without a fight,” Charlie said to Robin. They were riding home together.
“Me too. But what was with Adrian? Why was he looking at Aurora with so much desire? Marcel was so calm. If it were me, I would have confronted him,” Robin said.
“Don’t you know Marcel? It’s not over yet. Him not confronting Adrian doesn’t mean he won’t do it. It’s because Aurora was there.”
Robin nodded “That makes sense. Gosh, Marcel is so protective. He kept his eyes on her all through, even when she was dancing. He is sure going to beg again tonight,” Robin said, laughing.
Charlie laughed “She was right about the regular, though. I never use the regular section, but it seems I will try the regular section from now on.”
Meanwhile, in another vehicle, Marcel and Aurora were together.
Aurora sat far from him. She was not going to talk to him until he admitted he was wrong.
Marcel stared at her.
“Aurora, I was wrong, and you were right. The regular was more fun.”
“Are you saying this because you do not want me to get home while I’m still angry, or are you actually admitting it?”
“Both,” Marcel said.
Aurora smiled.
“Come on, babe,” Marcel said.
Aurora moved closer, and he wrapped his hand around her waist and kissed her.
“We should have kissed a lot in the club, but you were angry with me,” Marcel said.
Aurora frowned “Whose fault is that?”
“Mine,” Marcel said and she smiled. Aurora kissed him.
“I’m so tired,” she said as she placed her head on his lap.
Marcel smiled. They both did not speak about Adrian and never spoke about him.
They both never want to bring him up in their relationship. Aurora has moved on from him a long time ago, so talking about him was a taboo for both of them.
“Happy Birthday, Aurora!”
The three of them walked into Aurora’s room with cakes in their hands.
Juliana had baked two cakes for Aurora, and Marcel came with another cake that morning. He came so early so that he could wake Aurora from sleep with a happy birthday song along with her parents. He had so many plans for her birthday today.
Aurora woke up and smiled. She stood up and looked at the cakes in their hands.
“Wow!!” she said.
They sang the song for her, and she stood up and hugged them one at a time.
“Happy birthday, Aurora,” her father said.
“Thank you, Father,” she said and blew the candles on the cake he was holding.
“Happy birthday, baby,” her mother said to her.
“Thanks, Mom.”
She blew the candles on her mother’s cake, then went to Marcel and blew the candles on the cake he was holding.
“Happy birthday, babe,” Marcel said.
“Thanks, babe. Wow, this is so nice. Never thought I would have three cakes this year.”
She usually got two from her parents, but since Marcel was now in her life, she got three.
“Of course you get three now that I’m here,” Marcel said.
Aurora hugged him again. “Thank you, Marcel, for being a part of my life.”
“And thank you for being a part of mine.”
Her parents smiled, watching both of them “We should leave,” Juliana whispered to her husband. David did not want to leave but reluctantly did.
Aurora did not know they had a big surprise for her on this birthday. They have been planning it secretly with Marcel.
Later, Marcel had left, and Aurora went out shopping with her mother and went for a massage, then a pedicure and manicure.
It was so relaxing. This was something she loved doing on her birthday.
Aurora was anticipating her presents. She wondered what present Marcel was going to give her.
“Come on, let’s go.”
“I thought we were going home to open my presents.”
“Yes, you will, but we have to go somewhere right now.”
Aurora wondered what her mother was not telling her, but she followed her mother excitedly.
