Chapter 32 When we fight together

Was I getting brave or have I finally started to see my mother’s point of view? “Where did that move come from?” Brandon asked when I reached them. “Yeah, that was pretty awesome.” I smiled at them. “My mom had some moves up her sleeve and throwing away your possession was one of them.” It can either cost you a loss of your possession or gain yourself a win. And it was the best way I could’ve used to get the girls behind me.

“It was a risky move.” Brandon said. That it was. “But, can we just agree on how freaken awesome it was.” Brandon chuckled at her. Both of them were soaked, yet none of them left in the middle of the game. They stayed. Who needs miracles when you have friends like them?

“Well, I got to go. My mom is waiting outside for me.” Both Brandon and I looked at her with surprise. “What? She finally came around.” She then overwhelmed in a hug. “You did great out there.” She said releasing me, she said her goodbye to Brandon before walking away. “Miracles do happen, eh?” He said looking at her retreating form.

“I think she realized that while I was sitting without a mother, she still had hers.” He looked back at me, frowning. “You still have something close to a mother. Meredith.” I shrugged. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Hills.” He initiated a soft chuckle. “Come on, let’s get you home before you catch a cold.” He said taking my hockey bag from me and handed me an energy bar. “Always looking out for me, huh?” I teased but it meant more to me what words can explain.

“Always, Adams.” I followed me while almost eating the whole bar in one bite. We were close to the gate when I heard a voice saying my name and every hair stood up in my nape. “Sasha-Lee Adams. How long has it been?” I came to an abrupt hold and turned slowly to the person.

Dylan Scott. He smiled as if he could hear my thoughts. Brandon came up to me and stop at my side. “The years have done you good.” Dylan said. "Who is this?" He asked looking at Brandon with curiosity. "Brandon Hills." Brandon answered. Dylan returned his attention back to me. "Does he even know the real you?" I ignored his question. "What are you doing here, Dylan?" I asked. "I'm here for the hockey girls just like I was there for you."

"Yeah, convincing them to get in bed with you. How's your plan going so far?"

"If I remember correctly, I almost had you, but then you walk out." I couldn't help but smirk. "What? You don't like when a girl walks out on you?"

"You embarrassed me. Had everyone laughing at me."

“Wow, you sure can keep a grudge.” His lips drew back in a snarl.

"Grudge? You were a little slut who wanted my hands on you, your body underneath mine but, then you changed your mind and left me unsatisfied."

Slut? "Look around Dylan, we were fifteen-years-old and I wasn't ready for that kind of intimacy. You should really outgrow your grudge because it is kind of pathetic." I almost didn't see it coming, but he came for me and it was not a hug coming. He was like a bull ready to attack.

"You little bitch." He snarled but before he could do anything. He got acquainted with Brandon's fist. His back met the ground instantly and Brandon moved in, in front of me. "Brandon!" I yelled when a guy came from the side, he got Brandon on the side of his face. I heard as his fist connected with the side of Brandon's face. I watched as Brandon lost his footing and went down.

"You bastard!" I yelled kicking the guy between his legs and then throwing an uppercut to his face when he came down. He went sprawling, but before I could get to Brandon. I was grabbed from behind. I watched as Dylan got back to his feet. "Nice, you replaced me with even a bigger fool." I watched as Dylan pushed Brandon to the ground when Brandon tried to get up.

"Pathetic." He sneered. "For three years I've waited for this day where I get to see you again."

"Well, keep on waiting." I said before my foot connected with his knee. Brandon was up in an instant and punched Dylan in the stomach before throwing him to the ground. I head-butt the guy holding onto me and then when he released me, I punched him in the face. I ran for my hockey stick that Brandon dropped in the process. I ripped it out and held it up in the air. This was so against the rules.

The guys took a step back, retreating. I turned to Brandon and Dylan brawling. Brandon jumped up when he saw me coming, Dylan took that to get up too, but he came face to face with my hockey stick. He went sprawling. I took a step forward but Brandon pulled me back by grabbing hold of my hockey stick. "I think that's enough, he's out cold." Brandon said his voice strained.

I looked at him for the first time and noticed his shirt was almost ripped to pieces as if he just had a fight with a werewolf. "Your lip." He indicated. I touched my lip and noticed it was bleeding.

"I think we should get out of here." I nodded and followed Brandon to his car. By now we were covered in mud as the ground was wet after the rain. My body was shivering as the coldness started taking over. Brandon pulled out a jacket from behind my seat and handed it to me. "What about you?" I asked.

"I'll be fine." He answered and drove off. "Who was that guy, Adams? An ex-boyfriend?" He asked. "No, a guy who tried to get into my pants." He almost threw the car over. "I should've punched him harder." Brandon growled. "You were holding back." I told him.

"I was worried about you."

"I was fine."

"Yeah, I kind of noticed that you got some moves." He pulled up in front of my parent's house, shut off the engine and turned in his seat so that he was looking at me. "I haven't been in a brawl since middle school." Brandon said. "Well, you did good." Brandon chuckled. "Hell, Adams. I never knew that I would have a brawl with you."

"I'm just keeping things interesting."

"Come on, let's get you out of those wet clothes." I said to him exiting the car. He followed me to the house. "What about your dad? Isn't he going to freak?"

"My dad is all used to this."

"That's comforting." Brandon mumbled. My father looked at us when we entered the house. He looked quite startled to see in what type of condition we were in. He, on the other hand, was already dressed in his pj's. "What the heck happened to the two of you?" He asked.

"We had a brawl." I answered. My father didn't know what to say, he just looked at us. "Uh, well. Brandon, you can go clean up in our bathroom. I'll Meredith to get you some clothes while Sasha too can go clean up." We parted ways once we reached the top of the stairs. Meredith was there to help me bandage my elbow when I got out of the shower. I was dressed in shorts and a sports bra.

"Let me go get something to clean your lip." She said walking out leaving me with this awful bandage. I tried to wrap it around my elbow, but it was giving me a hard time.

"Need help?" I looked over my shoulder and caught Brandon leaning with his shoulder against the doorframe. He was only dressed in shorts and they were hanging quite dangerously low around his hips. He had a few bruises on his chest but nothing big. He pushed himself off the wall and made his way over to me.

He took the bandage from my hand and started to wrap it around my arm. I could not train my eyes to look away from him. He was all man, he had muscles in all the right places down to his six-pack that was standing more profound with the moisture of the shower. Couldn't he have made it easier for me by having a beer tummy?

"There." He said regaining my attention. "Finally." I sighed. "I can't believe he got you on the lip." Brandon said rubbing his finger across my bottom lip. "That was me head-butting the guy." He chuckled but didn't move away. I felt his other hand on my exposed skin as he placed his hand on my hip. Tingles erupted where he touched my skin, it's almost as if his hand can set my body on fire. I lifted my hands to his chest when I caught him leaning in, I pressed my hands to his chest as I wanted him to come closer and I wanted to feel his skin.

It was soft, muscular and warm. I pushed my hands up from his chest above his pecs and up to his shoulders. I lifted my head and pushed myself up onto my toes to connect our lips. Our lips touched for a mere second and before he could press his lips against mine fully, Meredith had to interrupt the moment.

As I tried to jump away, I knocked my elbow into the counter. I hissed and tried to rub it but Brandon beat me to it. "Dammit, I'm so sorry." Meredith apologized. "I didn't mean to interrupt. I just brought the ointment for your cracked lip."

"It's fine." I smiled at her.

"Your dad reheated some food for both of you." She said handing Brandon the ointment before she left. Brandon smiled at me and handed me the ointment.

"You should probably get dressed." I nodded as I remembered that I was standing in my shorts and a sports bra. "I'll wait for you downstairs."
