Chapter 153 Chapter 153
Chapter 153 Chapter 153
I was in the room all day and neither Lucian or Marcus had returned. It was around 6 pm when Marcus entered the room with dirt under his shoes like he had been playing in the mud. He hurried into the bathroom and I could hear water splashing. I guessed he was having a bath.
I was thinking about Ethan. Had he gone somewhere with Lucian, or better still, was he in Lucian's dorm. The thought of it made me feel uncomfortable. I was still wondering if I should tell Ethan that I knew he was Lucian's boyfriend and I was disappointed he didn't tell me. I thought about it till Marcus came out of the bathroom. My brain didn't give me a response if I should do it or not.
Marcus settled on his bed. Lucian entered after a few minutes had passed. I couldn't help but keep my eyes glued on him as he walked to his corner. He had a smile on his face which was unusually wide. I wondered if it was because of something that Lucian said to him. I felt something rise in me, something like jealousy and I immediately brushed it off. No Owen, you're not supposed to be feeling this way. I shut my eyes and allowed the feeling to subside. I couldn't be feeling jealousy towards someone who had done me no harm.
He got on his bed and began writing something on a book. He dropped the book aside when he was done and picked up his phone. He was smiling while looking at the phone. He glanced at me briefly and I looked away. Maybe he had noticed that I was staring at him. I thought he would ask me a question but he simply looked away and focused on his phone.
I knew I was being a tad too nosy at the moment. I had to move on with the fact that Lucian, who was my biggest crush, was dating my roommate and my roommate had lied to me about it.
I let out a deep breath and grabbed my phone. I headed out of the room even though I wasn't sure where I was headed. I felt I just needed some cool air to clear my head. I walked to a corner and stared out the balcony while leaning against the railings. I felt the cool evening breeze against my skin and I enjoyed it.
I shut my eyes. “Forget it, Owen. Lucian has a boyfriend. Stop acting hurt when you see them. Don't build resentment towards Ethan. Ethan is a friend.” I said those words out loud softly.
I heard someone clear the throat behind me, followed by a familiar voice. “You're still stuck on the crush thing.”
His voice had a hint of amusement in it. I turned to look at Adrian and a frown appeared on my face.
“It isn't nice to sneak up on people.”
Adrian scoffed. “Who said I was sneaking on you? I come here most evenings to just relieve the stress for the day.”
I looked at Adrian from head to toe and shrugged. I didn't say anything. I didn't agree with him, neither did I counter his statement. I didn't accuse him of lying either. What was I going to gain from that? I doubted he was stalking me. Why would Adrian even want to stalk me? He sure must have had more important things to do with his time.
“I least expected that I would hear anyone reciting a mantra on how to forget a crush.”
I looked at Adrian, then eyed him and looked away.
“You know you could channel your energy into other things. Crushes don't even last. It's supposed to be a brief thing.”
“I know. You don't have to tell me. I've moved past it.”
Something like a smile formed on Adrian's face. I didn't know why he was smiling.
“I know almost everything that goes on in this academy.” Adrian said.
I shrugged and didn't say anything while wondering how that piece of information concerned me.
Adrian continued talking and I listened regardless. “What if I told you that I know someone else who likes you?”
My interest and curiosity was piqued immediately.
“Really? Who's that?”
Adrian laughed briefly. “I can't just tell you. You have to earn it by getting better in training.”
I rolled my eyes at Adrian. I was pretty sure he just wanted to get on my nerves, or maybe distract me from being focused on Lucian and Ethan and I wondered why he was doing that.
He walked closer to me and held my palm, then he chuckled. “Your palms seem so soft, very omega-like.”
I forced a smile and continued looking outside. The sky was darkening and night was already approaching. I glanced at my phone and it revealed the time to be a few minutes to 7 pm.
I noticed Owen was leaning on the railings and kept looking at me. It made me feel a bit uncomfortable but I didn't say anything.
“Owen,”
I turned towards him as he called my name.
“If Nick and Mason or anyone at all bothers you, report them to me. You're under me now and it is my duty to protect you.”
I smiled. “I would, and I think Nick and Mason have learnt their lesson. I met them in the corridor and they passed their way without bothering me.”
Adrian had a proud look on his face, almost like he was saying he was grateful that he was able to chase them away. He didn't say anything, but he stared at the sky.
After a while, I yawned and felt a bit tired. I needed to go and rest so I could wake up the next day for training.
“Good night, Adrian. I'm going to my dorm now.”
“Good night Owen,” Adrian said and I couldn't miss the smile on his face.
I walked towards my dorm and when I got there, Marcus was asleep, but Ethan was still awake and on the phone. He looked up at me briefly as I entered before he returned his attention to his phone. I locked the door as I did every night when we were about to sleep.
I climbed into bed and laid down while facing the ceiling. Sleep seemed to elude me and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't sleep. Ethan's phone screen had gone off and soon I heard snores and I was sure that he was sleeping. I was the only one still awake in the room.
I picked up my phone as a text message entered. It made me develop clammy hands once I saw the sender. I was genuinely scared. How the hell did he get access to my number? This was a new line that I hadn't shared with anyone.
I stared at the message from Kenny. It read, “Hi Owen. I'm sorry. You should leave that silly academy and listen to your father and uncle to return to me.”
I frowned and the realization hit me. It was either my father or my uncle that had given him my number. I ignored the message and blocked his number before keeping the phone aside. I wasn't going to have anything to do with that douchebag.
I began to feel sleepy almost immediately. It seemed like the message from Kenny triggered my sleep. I slept off finally.
