Chapter 585
The car sped toward the outskirts at full throttle.
Christina's hands were clenched into fists, her nails nearly digging into her palms. She kept glancing outside, desperately hoping Estelle would appear at any moment.
Dark clouds loomed overhead.
Thunder rumbled ominously in the sky.
Christina couldn't shake the feeling that something was about to happen.
Her eyelids twitched uncontrollably.
Anxiety and fear spread through her heart. Soon, her phone rang again.
It was Athena.
Christina frowned slightly, not wanting to answer, but her finger accidentally hit the answer button.
Athena's angry voice came through, "What's going on? Are you really trying to get rid of Tamsin's baby?"
Athena started with an accusation.
Christina opened her mouth to say something, but it felt like her throat was being constricted, and she couldn't utter a single word.
Athena's patience was clearly wearing thin. "What's wrong with you? I already told you, if you can't accept this child, I can raise it, and it won't affect your and Sebastian's inheritance. What are you doing?"
Realizing her tone was too harsh, Athena softened her voice a bit. "Anyway, some things can't be explained over the phone. Let's meet and talk. I can assure you that the child won't be a problem for you."
"Besides, people should keep their promises. We agreed on this, so why are you changing your mind now?"
Athena continued to rant on the other end of the line.
Lightning flashed and thunder roared.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck again.
Dark clouds gathered, and amidst the lightning and thunder, torrential rain poured down.
The sky darkened, as if it was blanketing everything in darkness.
Christina wanted to hang up the phone, but her fingers refused to obey.
Unable to watch any longer, Robert spoke up, "Before you start pointing fingers, maybe you should get your facts straight. What you see or know might not be the whole story. And right now, she's in a bad state, so please stop bothering her."
The call ended.
Christina stared at the phone's black screen, indifferent. A sense of sorrow washed over her.
Estelle was missing, and she was the most worried. But to Sebastian and the others, Estelle was like an outsider, with no one showing any concern.
Robert noticed the tears in her eyes. "Don't cry anymore. Believe me, we'll find Estelle, and she'll come back safe."
Really?
Christina looked at him with pleading eyes.
Robert nodded firmly, "Of course. Trust me."
The car continued to drive steadily.
Due to the rain, the speed had decreased significantly.
Even so, it was still faster than usual.
Christina watched the raindrops hit the window, her mood growing more agitated.
Meanwhile...
Athena was furious. She looked at her phone and took a deep breath, "I really don't get what they're thinking. They already agreed, so why are they backing out now?"
No matter what, she had to protect Tamsin's safety.
Especially the baby.
To Athena, Tamsin's well-being wasn't as important as the baby's health.
At the hospital.
Tamsin noticed more bodyguards around her. Kaida was thrilled.
"See? This means they're taking you seriously. Just stay put in the hospital and take care of yourself. Don't do anything reckless. Once you have the baby, good times are ahead."
Even if Sebastian had no feelings for the child.
So what? The child would inherit the wealth anyway.
In a decade or so, the child would grow up and take over the company. Sebastian wouldn't matter at all.
Kaida held Tamsin's hand, "From now on, just stay put and don't run around. Remember, this baby is your ticket to a life of luxury. But if you mess up, no one can save you."
"Alright, I got it. Don't worry, Mom. I know what to do. Since this baby is so important, I won't mess around."
Tamsin felt a bit scared.
Not about framing Christina, but about her plan not being thorough enough.
Next time she schemed, she would gather more people to brainstorm.
As for Estelle...
She had just called to check, but the call couldn't go through.
Could something have happened?
Although Tamsin disliked the child, she never intended to harm her.
After all, Estelle was just an innocent kid.
Tamsin tentatively asked, "Mom, what if I hired someone to kidnap the child, and now she can't be found?"
Kaida froze for a moment before reacting.
She grabbed Tamsin's arm, "What did you say? Say it again."
"Don't get mad. I don't know what happened. You know I have many friends, and I couldn't find anyone useful this time, so I asked them. But now..."
Her original plan was to lure Estelle to a deserted corner, then take her out of the hospital and preferably leave her at a mall.
Tamsin's goal was to teach Christina a lesson.
She wanted Christina to know she wasn't to be messed with. If Christina dared to provoke her, Estelle would suffer.
Unexpectedly, the plan started smoothly but ran into major issues.
Estelle was missing.
To be precise, Tamsin's friends who were supposed to help were missing.
Kaida opened her mouth, taking a while to find her voice, "So Estelle is really missing?"
"Don't scold me. I didn't expect this to happen. But don't worry, I've asked other friends to look for her. Estelle is a living person; she can't just disappear."
Under Kaida's cold gaze, Tamsin's voice grew smaller.
She knew she was in big trouble.
If Estelle was hurt, Christina would come after her.
Kaida was furious but held back, considering Tamsin's pregnancy. "Enough talking. Give me all the contact information and records of your conversations. From now on, stay put and let me handle this."
Seeing Kaida's genuine anger, Tamsin didn't dare delay and quickly handed everything over.
Half an hour later.
Kaida trembled with rage, her lips pale, "You have some nerve, associating with these people. Do you know they're human traffickers? They even deal in organ trade."
These people might seem glamorous as heirs to wealthy families, but they secretly engaged in despicable activities.
Kaida didn't consider herself a good person, but she wouldn't associate with such people.
She never expected Tamsin to be so foolish.
