Chapter 580
Tamsin sat quietly on the side, watching her parents argue.
It was clear they didn't see eye to eye.
But soon enough, Kaida won, and Zach decided to let Tamsin join the company.
Tamsin was brimming with questions.
Back in her room, she couldn't hold back any longer. "Mom, didn't you say you didn't want me to fight for the family inheritance? Why did you agree?"
Seeing Tamsin so anxious, Kaida chuckled. "What are you thinking, silly girl? Do you really think I'm that biased? I've thought about it, and I was wrong. You've been treated unfairly all these years."
She lovingly patted Tamsin's head. "You've been through so much. No matter what happens, you always step up to protect me and Victor."
Thinking back, Kaida realized she owed Tamsin a lot.
When Tamsin was little, if they wanted Zach to visit, they had to make her sick.
Victor was too young then, so it was Tamsin who stood in the snow in winter or soaked in ice water in summer.
She was sick almost every month.
"You're right. You've given as much as Victor. From now on, don't hold back. But I have one request: no matter what happens, you two must not hurt each other."
As a mother, Kaida didn't want Tamsin and Victor to fight to the death.
This was her true wish.
Tamsin was moved to tears. "Mom, I understand. Even if I take over the company, I'll go easy on Victor. I promise I won't hurt him."
The mother and daughter hugged, silently crying.
The next few days were peaceful.
But it didn't last long.
Yesterday, Christina brought Estelle to the hospital for a check-up and ran into Tamsin, who was there for a prenatal visit.
Seeing each other, their animosity was obvious.
Christina didn't want to engage and tried to leave with Estelle, but Tamsin, holding her belly, blocked their way.
"Since we've met, why not chat? Hi there, I know you. I'm going to be your stepmom."
"Shut up."
Christina held back her anger. "Our issues are between us. Don't drag the kids into it, or I won't let you off."
"How can you say that? Kids are kids. When this baby is born, Estelle will be his big brother. Come, feel my belly."
Tamsin reached for Estelle's hand.
Estelle suddenly became agitated and shouted, "Get away from me! I don't like you. You're a bad woman."
He seemed to remember something terrible and waved his hands wildly.
Christina was startled and was about to speak when she heard a scream.
With a cry, Tamsin fell, clutching her belly, blood streaming down her legs.
"Even if you don't like me, you can't harm your brother. You're trying to kill my baby! Help! Someone help!"
Blood was everywhere.
Christina froze, her mind blank.
She was haunted by memories of Zephyr's death.
Zephyr had been covered in blood just like this.
The sight of blood was like a knife, slicing through Christina's mind, twisting her heart.
She gasped for air, her thoughts in chaos.
When she finally came to, Estelle was gone.
Her legs gave out, and she stumbled to the nurse's station. "Please help me find my child. Contact security. My son is missing. His name is Estelle."
She was so frantic she could barely speak.
After a while, she managed to give all of Estelle's information.
Security quickly arrived. "Ma'am, don't worry. We've started broadcasting and checking the cameras. We'll find him soon."
"Thank you."
Christina leaned against the wall, weak, and was helped to the security room.
On the monitors, Estelle was seen running down the stairs.
But the cameras on the second and first floors were broken, so they didn't know if he left the hospital.
Christina gasped. "What now? Should we call the police?"
"Let's call them."
The police arrived within half an hour and started checking the surrounding cameras.
But it was as if Estelle had vanished. They couldn't find any trace of him.
Christina stared blankly at the screen.
The door opened.
Sebastian stood there, looking grim. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. "Why? I told you, if you didn't want Tamsin's baby, I could take care of it. But why did you do it yourself?"
When he heard Christina had tried to get rid of Tamsin's baby, he was first ecstatic, then devastated by another message.
Now he was like a cornered beast, ready to attack.
Christina, dazed, brightened when she saw Sebastian. She was about to run to him, but his furious eyes stopped her in her tracks.
"Speak! Why did you do it? Was it to mess with my mind for Robert?"
Sebastian's last words were choked with emotion. He clenched his fists, veins bulging, trying to control his rage.
Christina finally understood. "So you think I did it on purpose?"
"Didn't you? Give me your phone."
Sebastian tried to grab her phone, but Christina resisted. They struggled, and in her anger, she smashed it to the ground.
The phone shattered.
Sebastian roared, "So, to you, what am I? Just a target for revenge?"
His chest heaved, veins bulging, his anger at its peak.
Christina gave a bitter smile. "Fine, you're right."
"Good, very good." Sebastian gritted his teeth, fists tight.
The security and police, unsure of their relationship, were about to mention Estelle's disappearance.
Christina spoke again. "Leave. I don't want to see you."
"You said it." Sebastian slammed the door and left.
