Chapter 69: Their Queen

Rosia's POV

I can't move and I feel very sick, it's like a giant’s hand has reached into my chest and is slowly squeezing the air out of my lungs. My skin feels tight and is turning sickly grey right before my eyes. I do not understand how I can be this sick when I was so well yesterday night.

"Love..." I try to call out to my mates who are still in deep asleep beside me and pray that they'll somehow wake up before I die.

I feel so weak, but I force my hand to move. I touch Aerius’s bare shoulder. Luckily his eyelids flutter open.

"Rosia!" he gasps in a panicked voice that wakes his brothers.

"You have to speak so loud?" Aeries questions, rubbing his sleepy eyes.

"Our mate is very sick." Aerion says in panic.

"She is alright we healed her yesterday you idiot," Aerius snorts in annoyance before he too gets a puzzled look on his face after looking at me.

The bed explodes into motion. The Kings scramble around me, their faces contorted in a panic I have never seen before. Do I look that bad?

“Oh fuck, honey.....” Aerius reaches for me, but the moment his fingers brushes my naked shoulder, a shock of pain bolts through my body. I shriek, my body arching off the bed. I sob because the pain so intense.

"Take deep breaths! Deep breaths! Breathe harder!" King Aerion's voice desperately orders.

Taking in more air hurts my chest. Yet it also feels like I cannot get enough. Two fingers touch the side of my neck.

"Her heartbeat is slowing! Get the doctor!" one shouts in a panicked voice.

I do not feel like I can keep my eyes open any longer. The urge to sleep is too strong.

"Do not sleep now! We need you to fight it!" Aeries voice screams, his strong hands shaking me.

I try fighting the overwhelming urge to sleep. I do not want to die now. But

my eyelids start to flutter closed and everything starts to go fuzzy.

I hear my mates arguing but I can barely make what they are saying because of the pain.

One of them lifts me off the bed along with the sheets and carry me out of the chambers. Few seconds later we bursts into another chamber and I hear even a louder voice of the palace doctor before I am laid on a bed.

"Poor thing, what has happened to her again?" the doctor questions while examining every part of me that had bruises yesterday.

"She was fine when we went to sleep! We fed her, we bathed her! How can she be sick now?" Aeries's voice questions.

"I don’t understand, Your Majesties. Her wounds from yesterday have closed. Her heart is strong. But she is... she looks to be in so much pain."

"Then look for where she's hurting and fix her!"

"I can't fix her when I don't see what is wrong, your Majesty," the doctor explains. "There is no single injury on her as you can see for yourself."

"It’s the vows," I hear Aerion say. His voice sounds like its coming from a long way off. "The Priest warned us if we starve our queen of the love we vowed to show her then we'll suffer a curse."

Queen? Vows? I'm I already dead or dreaming.

"So why is the curse affecting our mate instead of us?" Aerie's voice questions.

"I don't know but what else could it be?"

Now I'm sure I am dead and dreaming because why would they be speaking of a queen, vows and curses.

"The priest also said if the she forgives us, then there won't be a curse." one of them says. "We go to the dungeons and force her to offer us her forgive us."

Their lips touch my forehead. "We'll be back in a few minutes, my love. You’ll be okay."

They are leaving me here all alone? What if I die while they are gone?

King Aerie's POV

We walk into the dungeons, the guard on duty seems to know who we are here for even before we tell him. "That's the cell she is in!" He points at a door across from us. He then proceeds to escort us to it and opens the door for us.

Despite being suspended up by the neck, an evil grin spread across her lips as we walk in.

"My husbands... you have come to set me free?"

"End this, you witch!" Aerius lunges for her but I hold him back.

"Beating her will only make things worse as long as we are under the blood pact." I reason out with him.

"I'm glad to hear you have finally come to your senses of how things are. I was getting tired of being locked up here." she smirks.

"What have you done to our mate?" I question. How I wish we can torture the answer out of her because I would be really glad to wipe the smug grin on her face in the most painful way possible.

"I haven't done anything," She laughs. "You have. You promised to cherish me 'above all others.' You've done only the opposite. Every second you spend loving your human mate is a violation of the vows you made to me."

"The blood pact is between us," Aerion growls. "Why is our mate the one suffering because of our mistake?"

"She is your mate. You are one. She's just the weakest part of you. Or better if you don't want her to continue suffering, reject her and break your mate bond." Cassandra smirks. "And It finally can be just be the four of us... forever. I’ll love you so much better than she ever could. I’ll love you until it hurts."

"You're fucking insane if you think for a second we'd reject our mate for you," Aerius snaps which seems to anger Cassandra.

"I would burn this entire empire to ash just to make sure you look at me the way you look at her. If I have to kill her to get your attention, I’ll do it with a smile. I’ll be the only thing left for you to love. I’ll make you love me if I have to kill everything else you cherish!"

The woman is a psycho. A complete and utter psycho.

"What is it that you want?" Aerion asks, trying to keep his voice calm.

"Oh, you know what I want darling," Cassandra says suddenly sweet, as if she hasn't just threatened to murder our mate. "I want my crown. I want my queen chambers. I want to walk through the palace as your Queen as it was supposed to be. And most importantly... I want a heartfelt to apology for the mistake of locking me up like I am a criminal."

We look at each other, the revulsion clear on my brother's faces, but we can't let our mate to continue suffering for our mistakes.

"Fine," Aeries spits, "We will have you released. You will have our queen's crown and chambers as you wish. But under the condition that you forgive us for all that we did."

"You apologize first." She insists with a belittling smile. " I want to hear you tell me how silly and naughty you’ve been for treating your beautiful Queen badly." she smiles from ear to ear.

"Forgive us for treating you badly," I say, my teeth clenched.

Cassandra closes her eyes, looking like she is savoring the words. "Mmm. Say it like you mean it."

She better hope we never find a way to break the pact because I'll destroy her like a pile of dirt.

"We apologize for mistreating you, it won't happen again,"

"I didn't hear a 'Your Majesty,'" she teases.

"We apologize... Your Majesty," Aerius snarls, his eyes full of hate.

"Apology accepted!" Cassandra giggles. "I, Queen Cassandra, forgive my lovely husbands for their temporary mistakes." she says. "I welcome them back to my side, and I release the bitterness in my heart."

I immediately ask the guard to rush to the doctor's chambers and check if our mate is fine.

"You know you'll have to start trusting me if we will live together ever after" she snorts.

That doesn't scare me at the moment more than realizing we have to now go explain to our mate what really happened. Something we weren't planning to do before.

The guard returns in seconds with the good news that our mate is fine.

"Now it's your turn to keep your word, my loves." Cassandra says, holding out her wrists expectantly for the guard to unlock the chains.

"Unlock her cuffs." I order the guard.

We'll do as she wishes but today won't end without us finding a way to break the blood pact. Then we'll gift our mate her head. Just as she asked.
