"Well, gentlemen, I suppose it's time to leave. Apologies for not making your preferred tea” Toby's gleaming eyes sparkled with scorn.
With haughty shoulders, he opened the door widely, indirectly sending Alec and Josh out.
“I’m sure you know by now that I can never be relentless when it comes to issues involving Vanessa?” Alec's voice struck with command.
“You have zero say in my business, bro. So, fuck the shit out of this place this minute”
“I guess you still don't know a thing” Alec stepped forward towards Toby, his eyes burning. “ Vanessa Is mine and will always be mine”
Toby scoffed. “ Tsk-tsk… Sounds like some expensive jokes.May I remind you that I don't compete for a thing. I take control. I take charge” He brags. “ And you know what little bro, I'm always one step ahead of you”
“You seem high on some cheap drugs or something. Do you hurt inside?”Josh cuts in, taunting Toby for being sarcastic.
“Nah, I can never be hurt. What shit are you talking about?” Toby sneered.
“We're not here to play hide-and-seek games with you. Consider yourself gone if I didn't find Vanessa” Toby warned and turned furiously to Josh, “ let's leave”
Toby smirked. “Bye lil bro. You’re gonna hear from your old pro soon” He gave a taunting laugh.
Alec shifted a burning gaze at him and said, “ I know how you aligned with Lawson just to destroy me” he revealed . “Be ready to stand me because I don't make fake promises”
Those were Alec's last words before he departed with Josh.
Toby couldn't utter a word. Fear gripped him. Alec's words seemed more graver than mere threats.
The police hadn't left the premises before Alec and Josh stepped outside.
“I’m sorry, Mr Sterling” the police officer walked to Alec. “ I guess Miss Archibald gave you the wrong message. Mr Toby Isn't guilty of anything”
“ Officer, Vera isn't a woman careless with words. That monster in there is up to something fishy. He needs to be properly investigated”
“ Please mind your words, Mr Sterling” The officer’s voice lowered. “Report any new thing to us when you find Miss Archibald” He tapped Alec's shoulders gently before leaving with his men.
“What did he say?” Josh walked in, referring to the officer.
“Nothing sensible, Josh. Let's get going”
“Hold on…” Josh stopped. “ I think we should reach out to Mr Achibald. He should know Vanessa and her kid's whereabouts."
Alec nods agreeingly. “Sounds like a better idea.”
It was not too long after Alec, Josh and the police drove off Toby's compound that they met some group of passersby thronged around a particular vehicle not too far from Toby's mansion.
Security vehicles were parked around, their lights flickering with the shrill sound of sirens, rising and falling.
Glaring carefully around, Toby suddenly identified the car the police crowded. Vera owns a similar car.
Stopping the car, Alec stepped out, hurrying to the scene. The other policemen earlier did stop. They drove off, not minding the horrible scene.
Josh sighted Alec racing out of his car and he immediately stopped his own car, following him.
Josh could see the police dragging out a woman and two kids out of the vehicle. Seems they were involved in an accident.
But what Josh didn't understand was why Alec rushed in there—to the scene.
When Josh got closer he discovered that the woman was no one else but Vera and two other kids.
“She… and one of the kids… are still alive. They are still breathing” one of the officers shouted from the scene.
“They were locked up in the car for nearly forty-five minutes now,” a passerby said to another, sympathically.
According to a middle-aged British-American woman who sells baby accessories by the roadside, a young man had driven and parked the car there and had left without saying anything.
But shortly some minutes later, she began to hear someone screaming for help in the car. Since the windshield was tinted, the woman saw anyone in the car but someone kept screaming for help Inside.
That was when the woman had raised the alarm.
Other eyewitnesses confirmed that one of the kids was still breathing but one seems to have passed out.
Alec couldn't hold himself any longer. Toby was the murderer who trapped Vera and her kids In her car.
While Vera and the kids were rushed to the hospital immediately, Alec and Josh rushed back to Toby's house.
They didn't reach the monster's compound before they sighted him strolling down to the place he had trapped Vera and her kids.
Furious, Alec almost hit Toby with his car.
“Muderer” Alec snarled from the car as he stepped out.
Before Toby could realize it, Alec had sent a blow to his right eye, leading to a bloodshot eye.
Toby didn't expect this to happen. He was actually hurrying to get Vera and her kids out of the roadside to somewhere far to hide them.
Hours ago after he locked Vera and her kids up, he took Vera's phone but realized Vera had sent a text to Alec around 5: 22pm.
Also, Alec’s missed calls urge Toby into action before it is too late.
Swiftly, he had moved Vera and the kids inside the car and had driven a little bit from his house. He did it knowing Alec would come after him at once.
He would go to prison if they found Vera and her kids in his house with bloodstains all over their bodies.
Shortly after he concluded his mission, he took Vera's phone and text to Richard, pretending to be Vera. He assured Richard through a text that she and the kids would be home tomorrow by noon and that he shouldn't worry about them.
Then, he immediately turned the phone off so Richard didn't call back.
Alec didn't pity Toby one bit. He continued to punch him everywhere in his body till Toby started bleeding in the nose and lips.
Josh had to intervene before de-escalating the conflict before the police arrived.
The police immediately handcuffed and took Toby away with bloodstains all over his body.
From the look of things, Alec seemed to have disfigured one of Toby's eyes. His right eye was covered with blood inside and his eyelid swelled badly.
