Chapter 179: Chapters 182. Silent killer
Alsc had a long day after attending Shella's new product launch in one of the hotels today.
He hardly went through his phones except his business phone.
Around six in the evening when he arrived home, he flung both phones onto the bed, and headed straight for the shower to refresh himself.
Immediately when he got back inside the bedroom, he realized his personal phone had been ringing.
He just missed a call from a business friend.
Checking the phone, he realized he's got multiples of calls from Vera—about Five missed calls.
“Vera has been calling?” He muttered, as he scrolled through the phone.
Very Swiftly, he dialed her phone, a little bit worried.
Vera Is not someone who would call repeatedly. If she had done so, then something truly urgent must have come up.
What could that be?
Alec kept trying to reach out to her but her phone remained switched off.
Something is wrong somewhere. He thought.
While he was trying to reach her, he saw her message at about 5: 22 PM.
He opened the message at once, and what he saw sent chills running in his spine.
Toby is about to kill me and the kids. Please save us!
The message was sent at exactly 5:22 p.m., but the calls had come earlier, between 5:15 and 5:22 when she had sent the message.
Vera Is in trouble! The word echoed in his mind.
He ran around in a frenzied state, darted between wearing his clothes first or calling for help.
In the process of running around, he tripped, losing balance and suddenly landing on the floor, hurting his waist.
However, he didn't feel the pain yet regardless of how severe it was.
Confused, he opened the wardrobe , grabbed his pajamas without knowing and ran out of the run, calling Josh at the same time.
Racing to the car, Alec hum the engine and swooped.
Gracefully, Josh was always ready to give a helping hand in chaotic moments like this.
The journey that was supposed to take two hours, took just an hour for Alec.
He drove at speed , violating some of the driving rules just to save Vera.
Before Alec got to Toby’s place, Josh had arrived there with five other police officers, surrounding Toby's mansion.
They rang the bell, announcing their presence in the premises at once.
Toby did waste any time before opening the door.
Vera's car was no longer in the premises also. Only Tony's cars.
Opening the door partly, Toby yawned. It seems he had been in a deep sleep.
“How can I be of help, gentlemen?” He yawned and stretched his body.
“Are you Mr Toby? We suspect a crime activity that would require us searching your home.”One of the Policemen said, his voice steady.
Toby blinked. “ Excuse me—?”
“Where Is Vanessa, Toby?” Alec stepped in and Toby froze.
“Alec?” Toby called, shocked.
“Invade the entire building” One of the officers commanded, his voice echoing.
“ Yes sir!”
One of the other police pushed Toby off the way, heading inside while some others spread themselves around the environment.
“Long time no see, my friend”Josh showed up from nowhere, glaring at Toby.
Toby flinched.
From the very start, Josh had always looked like a masquerade, unsettling and silent threat to Toby.
Toby's eyes darted between Alec and Josh, his lips dried.
“ What are you two doing here? And why all these uniformed men?” Toby flared, his voice roaring.
“You’re going to be a dead man, soon” Alec threatened “ If anything ever happened to Vera, then considered yourself gone”
“What are you even saying, Alec? Vera is my fiancee. I have the right to her. Whatever is going on between us is none of our business so back off!”
“Save that blabbing for the station. After tonight, you're going to enjoy the rest of your life in the prison” Josh threatened.
As they were arguing, the three policemen who had gone, searching for Vera in the house, stepped in, their faces filled with exhaustion.
“Dectetive, we search everywhere. There's no one in the house” One of the police officers reported.
Toby gave a sly grin, his eyes gleaming maliciously at Josh and Alec.
”It’s my turn to deal with you two”
“Step backwards” Alec commanded the two policemen and immediately stepped in and Josh followed without hesitation.
Alec has been to every corner of Toby's house, moving from room to room, searching every corner with carefulness.
Indeed, Vanessa was nowhere to be found. Josh too couldn’t find her.
“Are you sure you got Vanessa's messages correctly? She is not in this house”Josh tapped Alec's shoulders.
” I read the message well. She can't also be playing with sure a serious matter” Alec said, exhaling.
He scrolled through his phone again and brought out the message Vera had sent him earlier.
“ See what I'm saying?” He showed Josh the message.
It was after Josh finished reading that he raised a curious gaze at Alec.
“ Vanessa has children?” Josh asked, his brows furrowing.
“ No of course” Alec replied, very firmly.
Josh read the message aloud for Alec and he immediately grabbed the phone to go through the message again.
Then it occurred to him that Josh was right.
He didn't read the part where Vanessa mentioned her kids due to the fact that he was in a hurry.
Narrowing his gaze, his eyes caught with the clothes he wore.
He had sleeping trousers on without pants inside.
Shit!
He thought he had taken a shirt earlier but to his surprise, he was wearing one of his pants wrongly on his body instead.
No wonder he kept feeling uncomfortable all the time because of the pants.
Josh, too ,didn't even talk about it. Vanessa was more important.
“ What kids is she talking about?”Alec muttered, thinking hard.
“ We still need to find her. She might be somewhere unsaved with her kids” Josh said.
“Kids?” Alec kept muttering, still lost.
Immediately they got inside the living room, they saw Toby shaking hands with the policemen.
Both Toby and the police seemed to have reconciled.
Instead of finding Vera, the police were busy apologizing to Toby for disrupting his peace of mind.
Toby smiled as he saw Alec and Josh standing close by.
