Chapter 14: Garden
“When I became a werewolf, you started nagging me about what to do and what not to do. Why don’t you ask me what I want to do?” I muttered to myself.
“Do I even have a choice? If I did, I wouldn’t be the prince’s companion. I could have had a normal life. But everything changed. I met the prince for no reason, and then my supposed mate sent me to prison. And now someone is trying to poison me! Another innocent man died tonight because of it. It’s all insane!”
I anxiously grabbed my hair, feeling like a crazy person who had lost their mind.
“I hate it here. I don’t want to be a fucking werewolf queen, if I can help it. Fuck werewolves and fuck princes!” I roared, frightening Shirley. She didn’t say anything to me and didn’t even dare to make a sound. She didn’t disappear, but instead hid for a while.
After I finished venting, I sat back heavily on the stool, my chest heaving with heavy breathing. It was quiet for a long time until a man’s voice sounded in my ear.
“Wow! Great speech! But if I were you, I wouldn’t choose to speak ill of the prince here!”
The man emerged from the darkness, dressed in a dark green palace costume that made him look like a nobleman. He had a long chin, neck, and even longer legs, resembling a thin and tall tree trunk.
“Who are you?” I asked in surprise.
“Why were you hiding and eavesdropping on my speech?” The man smiled and gracefully lifted the bangs that were blocking his eyebrows with the index finger of his right hand. His golden eyes shone like cat’s eyes in the dark.
“My name is William!” The man walked towards me, his steps so light that he didn’t even make a sound.
“I didn’t mean to disturb you. I just happened to pass by and overheard your speech,” William said, deliberately pausing.
“I just wanted to kindly remind you that with what you just said, your beautiful head could be hung on the palace wall at any time tomorrow.”
“So you’re going to tell on me and let the people in the court charge me with insulting the prince. And when my head is hung on the palace wall, you’ll even throw eggs or tomatoes at it, won’t you?” I said, my hands on my hips. I was still angry and unreasonable, even biting when I was crazy.
William’s shoulders trembled as he laughed. Instead of being angry, he looked at me with great interest.
“It seems that you are the talk of the court as the prince’s companion. No one can disrespect the prince in court. Our prince has a strange temper. Of course, if he chooses to hang your head on the palace wall, I will take a look when I pass by. But I won’t throw eggs and tomatoes. That’s what civilians do. I am a nobleman, and I won’t do anything beneath my dignity!” William said.
“Noble, noble! So, Mr. Noble. What else do you want to say?” I asked, looking up at him on tiptoe.
“No matter what you want to say, I don’t want to hear it now. Please, just get out of here!” William shook his head strangely, his eyes full of disdain. I could see that he didn’t want to continue to entangle with an unreasonable woman.
“I really look forward to seeing your head hanging on the palace wall!” William whispered.
“Then you may be disappointed!” Leon’s voice was deep and dignified. He appeared in front of me with a sullen face, glancing at William before asking in a disdainful tone, “Do you really want to see my princess’s head hanging on the palace wall?” William shrugged his shoulders and bent his knees slightly to Leon. His tone was still light, like cotton wool in the air.
“It’s up to you! After all, your princess said something against you just now. According to your rules, people who commit crimes of speech will have their heads cut off, won’t they?”
“Get out of here, now!” the king ordered. William bowed his head slightly to Leon and me before gracefully turning around and leaving. I suspected that he didn’t even walk with his feet, but floated.
“So, you were scolding me just now, weren’t you?” Leon’s purple eyes stared at me. “If you are dissatisfied with me, you can tell me, but please don’t complain to a stranger about me!”
“I didn’t complain to him…” Before I could finish speaking, my lips were tightly covered by Leon’s. I struggled to get rid of his arms, but Leon’s hands held me tightly like chains. I couldn’t resist at all. I felt so small in front of him. So, I bit Leon’s lip, hoping he would let me go, but his tongue was still exploring in my mouth.
As a woman, when you were unable to resist a man, you might as well choose to stop and enjoy it. Okay, I admitted it, I lost.
My wolf was active again. My tongue intertwined with Leon’s, and both our mouths tasted sweet and bloody. Finally, Leon stopped and stared at me with slightly angry eyes for a few seconds before suddenly carrying my whole body on his shoulder without my knowing it.
“What are you doing? Let me go!” I beat Leon’s back.
“If you want the whole court to see you like this, then you can shout. I don’t care!” Leon’s iron hand held my waist as he walked calmly and quickly.
I immediately closed my mouth. Where on earth was this man taking me?
By Jove, many will see him carry me thus. I looked down, really trying to find a hole in the ground. It's very embarrassing. It was the first time I had been shouldered by a man.
I was looking for an opportunity to jump off his shoulders. But his hands were so tight about me that I could not break free. Oh, my God. Where is he taking me?
