Chapter 377

Emily crumpled into someone's arms, hearing a faint groan as she hit the ground.

In the sudden darkness, Emily quickly figured out what had gone down.

When the lights flickered back on, she faced Armando's cold stare.

Glancing around, she spotted the floor covered in shattered crystal and glass.

At that moment, it all clicked for her.

When the chandelier crashed down, Armando was the one who pulled her to safety.

Onlookers were left in shock by the dramatic scene.

Armando held Emily close, unharmed, while his back was pierced by glass, blood mixing with spilled champagne, a chilling sight.

Emily finally spoke up, "Armando, you okay?"

She tried to shift away from him, but moving only pushed the glass deeper into his back.

Winter and Preston hurried over, worry written all over their faces.

Winter, tears welling up at the sight of blood, cried out, "Armando, are you alright? Someone call an ambulance, quick!"

James rushed to join them.

With everyone's help, Emily was gently lifted from Armando's arms.

Armando, in a white shirt, his back a bloody mess, remained stoic, showing no signs of pain.

"Where's the manager?" Armando demanded, his voice sharp.

The manager of the banquet hall nervously ran over. "I'm sorry, the hotel is an intangible cultural heritage. In order to preserve its original appearance, the electrical system has not been extensively renovated, and the power system here is old, so there will occasionally be short circuits. Please accept our apologies."

Most guests were forgiving of the old building's quirks, considering it normal.

Only James knew the truth-this was no accident but a carefully planned scheme.

Maybe Luna had been plotting since Winter picked the venue for Armando's birthday bash.

Without Armando's quick thinking, Emily could have been in serious trouble.

James shot a glance in Luna's direction.

Luna sat there, a wicked smile on her face.

Even though her plan had flopped, her expression oozed defiance and mockery.

Armando, too, sensed this wasn't an accident.

But for now, he needed to get his injuries checked at the hospital.

Pointing at the manager, Armando warned, "This better be an accident, or you'll regret it."

"Armando, let's get you to the hospital," Winter urged, shocked by the unexpected turn of events.

What was supposed to be a joyful celebration for Armando's birthday had turned into a disaster.

Armando was whisked off to the hospital, with Emily by his side.

Meanwhile, James stayed back, heading towards Luna.

Luna put on a show of innocence, "Mr. Smith, was that a thrill?"

"Luna, was this your doing?" James got straight to the point.

"And if it was? Can you prove it?" Luna taunted.

She added, "You can't lock me up like you did Veda. I'm not that dumb."

Luna's arrogance was off the charts, and she was sure of her plan and ready to brush off any accusations.

"But Emily and Armando lucked out this time. That nosy Armando, though," Luna remarked.

"You're vile, Luna."

Luna snapped back, "Why didn't you call Marcus wicked when he was messing with those poisons? Now he's in the hospital, his payback from above!"

Realizing Luna's tie to Marcus, James clarified, "He wasn't messing with poisons, and the toxins in you weren't his doing. You were played, seeking revenge on the wrong person."

"Don't feed me that. We've dug deep! Marcus is at fault! He deserves to pay, just like all of you!"

"The one who deserves to pay is you," James said coldly.

Then he didn't bother to talk to Luna, he walked up directly, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her out.

Many people looked at them.

Everyone's eyes were full of surprise and weirdness.

What were these two going to do?

James had a cold and cruel look in his eyes.

Luna instinctively felt fear. "Where are you taking me, let me go."

At first, Luna's tone was still strong.

But James did not answer.

After leaving the restaurant, James directly shoved her into the car.

After a ten-minute drive, they reached the Smith Group building.

Ignoring Luna's pleas, James guided her into the elevator.

Pressing the button for the top floor, Luna's anxiety spiked.

As the elevator doors slid open, Luna saw the rooftop of the Smith Group building.

Fear gripped her as she asked, "James, why bring me here? Are you capable of murder?"

Remembering James's warning, Luna felt a surge of panic.

James, his tone icy, played along, "Let's have some fun."

In the next moment, Luna felt a push on her shoulder, sending her tumbling backward.

As she fell, Luna locked eyes with James's chilling gaze.

Her heart and body filled with dread, Luna screamed, "James, I'll haunt you even in death! I'll drag you and Marcus to hell!"

Her voice lost in the wind, Luna faced certain death, consumed by fear and hatred.

But death did not claim her.

Landing on a massive safety net, Luna rolled and collided with it, finally coming to a stop.

Pain shot through her body, every nerve on fire, the agony surpassing any poison's effects.

Unable to think clearly, Luna curled up, trembling, unable to distinguish life from death.

James watched coldly as Luna suffered.

To him, Luna was just a fleeting shadow in the darkness.

Calling Ryan, James ordered, "Come to the rooftop and detain Luna."
