Chapter 180: Leaked

Gasps erupted. “Oh my God!” someone shouted, pointing at the TV screen. Those who had been engrossed in conversation instantly looked up, confused, only to realize the cause of the commotion. With mouths agape, everyone looked at the screen amid the commotion and excitement at seeing something gossip-worthy.

A few of them snickered. They had seen this video on the group chat before and had planned for a scene. They had even pushed for this trip from the management team.

Margaret and Peyton exchanged a knowing look, with a coy smile spread across their lips before looking towards Brie’s direction.

On the screen, Brie sat in a car, Alex beside her. The camera angle was invasive, secretive. It showed the exact moment they kissed.

“Corporate slut!” someone cursed. “Shameless.”

Margaret snickered and leaned forward in her seat. “She acts all high and mighty, and yet she sneaks behind to sleep with the CEO,”

The rooftop exploded. Fingers pointed, as voices rose, mostly overlapping each other. “Unbelievable.”

Brie’s body went cold. She already knew. She had received another message from the anonymous stalker saying, “How do you like your secrets out there? You shouldn’t have ignored my warnings. Stay away from Alex.”

Her hands shook terribly. Jen instantly gripped her arm. “Stay calm. Don’t react.” She spoke under her breath, low enough for Brie to hear, but Brie was already looking ahead at the screen. Her face was blank, but there was no denying the storm in her eyes.

When the screen flickered again, Brie felt an icy chill in her bones. Recent photos of her in the lacy lingerie she had worn for Alex a few days ago were displayed, followed by text messages she exchanged with him, all doctored to appear as though she was the one chasing after him shamelessly.

Not far off, Margaret and Peyton faced each other, whispering something. There seemed to be a flicker of surprise and confusion on their faces, but it was immediately masked with a look of pride and mockery.

Jeff was stunned. He pulled himself up instantly. “Take that down,” however, his voice was swallowed by the noise, probably from the shock of seeing what he dreaded on the screen: the woman he loved and his brother.

“Jeff, don’t,” Sienna stood up abruptly, her chair falling behind her as she held Jeff’s arm in her bid to stop him.

“You did this?” his voice was dangerously low, but Sienna ignored his statement. She couldn’t risk a scene, nor could she risk being exposed.

Everyone saw this and assumed Jeff was livid at Brie, and Sienna was trying to stop him from confronting her, so they all started offering their support instead.

“Mr. Jeff, some people are not worth your anger.” Someone said.

Another chimed in, nodding their head in line with what the first person had said. “Yeah, yeah. If she can be shameless to play between two brothers, she isn’t worth it.”

Another person added.

“Miss Voss is a strong woman. She is still trying to protect the shameless homewrecker despite everything.”

The whole scene was filled with people with multiple opinions.

All the while, Brie didn’t move. Her face remained locked on the screen, currently displaying her pictures. Jen held her hand in her bid to steady her.

Jeff looked at Brie, but she wasn’t staring in his direction. He turned back at Sienna, his jaw clenched and his voice dangerously low.

“Are you happy now?” he let out a low, dangerous hiss

Sienna blinked rapidly, then looked around her. “Just keep your voice down.”

“This is low, Sienna, extremely low, even for you. I can’t believe you.” He yanked off his hands. Sienna hurried after him, quickening her steps. At the same time, the drama was still in full swing. Someone had stood up with a sharp voice to call out Brie.

“Don’t you have anything to say, Brie. You ignore your boyfriend and go after his brother, knowing full well that he has a fiancée. Yet you act all haughty like you’re better than everyone else. Honestly, how many guys have you slept with at this point?” she scoffed, then rolled her eyes.

Another cut in. “Everyone sees how shameless you’ve been around the boss. Your action as a homewrecker is destroying a perfect relationship?”

Brie took in a sharp breath, shuddering. She had moved her hands under the table and clenched them tight.

Jen tried to speak, but her voice failed. She looked at Brie, helpless, unable to find the right words to say in this situation. What was worse, they were sitting at the far back of the lounge. It would be a lengthy walk to the exit. She bit her lip. Brie had not said a word. Her face was blank, but her eyes shimmered with something close to tears, anger, and something she couldn’t name.

The whispers continued. Amidst the whole commotion, the voices that spoke the most were the ladies'. The guys simply sat watching the drama. Some found it amusing, a few tried to douse the flames, but the ladies were in high spirits and kept talking over each other. Someone tried to turn off the screen but couldn’t find the control.

Angrily, Margaret stood up, pointing at Brie. “Don’t you have something to say, Brie?”

Everyone turned to Brie, watching, waiting. Even Jeff, who had been stopped a while ago by a desperate Sienna, looked over at her, his expression pained.

Suddenly, a cold voice split the air, causing the air to stand at the backs of everyone present. “What right do you have to question her?”

The rooftop fell silent. Alex stood at the entrance, his gaze icy.

His eyes flicked to the screen. “Whoever is responsible for this should be prepared to face the consequences.”

His assistant brought out his phone, cutting off the feed. The screen went dark abruptly.

Alex walked forward, each step measured, while ignoring the looks from everyone. Sienna’s smirk faltered as soon as she saw him. She immediately let go of Jeff’s arm and plastered a smile on her face, then stepped forward, towards Alex. “Alex—”

He didn’t stop. He didn’t even look at her. His gaze was locked on Brie with an intensity that could have made anyone shudder. But when they looked at each other, his eyes seemed to communicate to her, giving her strength, like an anchor. Sienna approached, and he brushed past her like she didn’t exist.

When he stopped before Brie, his voice was tender and controlled as he fought to keep his emotions in check. He knelt before her, his fingers grazing her cheeks to capture the tears that had spilled.

Her lips trembled, but she couldn’t utter a word. Slowly, he stood up, pulling her up with him, and when she looked at him, she broke.

“Sorry, I’m late, baby. I’m here now.”
