Chapter 828: Take a Look at Harry’s Son
“That day, William flew to Regal City. Before takeoff, he called Thalia repeatedly, asking if she would be home.”
On the other end, Thalia had just woken up and was brushing her teeth with the toothbrush still in her mouth. Hearing William's repeated reminders, she got annoyed. "Yes, I'm going home! Where else would I go? You're so annoying."
"I'm worried our son will have neither father nor mother."
“Thalia wasn’t happy. ‘Why don’t you worry about me not having a husband?’
‘I’m hanging up now.’
By noon, Thalia had arrived home.”
“John unloaded the suitcases from the car one by one, while Fallon directed everyone in organizing them. It took the whole afternoon just to get everything barely sorted.”
Thalia had slept in the car. After getting home, she changed into loungewear and played with Eddy.
“They played until after four in the afternoon. Only when Eddy fell asleep did she come down from the nursery, rubbing her neck.”
She had Fallon call someone from the spa to come do a treatment. At six-thirty, the spa ended.
“Fallon brought a robe downstairs and, seeing her emerge from the treatment room, draped it over her shoulders.”.
"Mrs. Brown, what would you like to eat? I'll have the kitchen prepare it." "Am I the only one home?"
"Yes," Fallon responded. "Mrs. Smith has been quite busy lately and hasn't been back to Mistwood Hill for several days. Mr. Brown's parents went back to the Brown Mansion, saying students and old friends visiting one after another would disturb the baby.
Ms. Anderson is on duty at the hospital, and Mr. Brown went to Regal City." Thalia nodded. "Then I won't eat."
“‘Mr. Brown specifically instructed us before leaving not to let you skip meals.’
‘It’s fine,’ Thalia said, taking the water glass from a servant and sipping.”
“‘Mrs. Brown, please don’t make things difficult for us. Mr. Brown is very particular about making the most of resources.’”
If he knew we had so many people in the house and you didn't even have dinner, he'd be upset."
“Thalia scratched her hair and let out a slight sigh. ‘A vegetable salad, then.’
‘Don’t say anything more—just go do it.’ She didn’t like being nagged in front of others.”
At nine-thirty, Thalia sat on the living room sofa holding the baby, video chatting with Evelyn.
“Seeing her lying on the sofa looking pale, she felt concerned. ‘Morning sickness?’
‘Yeah.’
‘Didn’t they say it gets better after three months?’”
"I haven't reached three months yet, so I'm still suffering. Have your son call me godmother."
“Thalia glanced at Eddy and took away what she was holding. ‘You’ve read too many genius-baby novels.’
Evelyn lay on the sofa, shaking with laughter.”
Already feeling dizzy, this made her even dizzier. "Are you in Emerald City or Regal City?"
"Regal City. The nausea is so bad I can't even leave the house.
“Staying in Emerald City wouldn’t help with work anyway, and Elijah would have to run back and forth worrying, so I came back to Regal City.”
“‘That’s good—considering each other’s needs. Everyone being comfortable is the best outcome. Where’s Elijah?’
‘Out, with Mr. Brown.’”
“Thalia raised an eyebrow. ‘What are they doing?’
‘How would I know? Even if I asked him, he might not tell me. Did William say anything to you?’”
“‘No,’ Thalia said, shaking her head. Evelyn rolled over, propping her phone against the sofa to rest her hands. ‘There you go.’”
“‘Why worry so much? We just need to spend the money.’
Early that morning, in the delivery room of a private hospital in Regal City, a clear cry rang out.”
As the new mother was wheeled back to her room. The hospital room door was pushed open.
“The servant watching over her was surprised to see the visitor. William immediately introduced himself. ‘Mr. Brooks sent me—don’t worry.’”
“Hearing it was Harry, she didn’t ask any further questions and nodded repeatedly. ‘That’s good, that’s good.’
‘I was worried that Mr. Brooks might…’”
“After all, it wasn’t something to be proud of. Given his age, if he truly ignored the situation, their high-ranking position would leave them with no way to seek justice.”
“By four-thirty in the morning, the hospital room had gradually quieted down. In the suite’s living room, William sat fully dressed on the sofa.”
“Just one door away were the new mother, still weak, and her crying newborn. Having been through Thalia’s experience, William felt a measure of compassion.”
He didn't go in to disturb them. He just sat outside waiting for the person he was waiting for.
“At five in the morning, the winter sky was still pitch black. When the hospital room door opened, the person entering with a cane froze in his tracks.”
“The night was silent, but the confrontation before them was almost overwhelming. Harry stood at the door, staring at William, momentarily dazed.”
“This unexpected situation was truly something he hadn’t anticipated.
‘What are you doing here?’
‘To see your son.’
‘William, what do you want?’”
"That's what I should be asking. Mr. Brooks, what do you want?"
“Harry stepped into the room, closing the door behind him, his eagle-like gaze fixed sharply on William.”
"Having an illegitimate child near retirement—this one thing alone is enough to destroy all your years of effort, Mr. Brooks. Let's both have it easy. I'll let you off, and you stay out of my business." William tossed the paternity test onto the coffee table.
Crossing his legs, his posture cold. "Or do you want to gamble with your only bloodline?
“‘If this child dies, can you guarantee your sperm quality is enough to produce another?’
‘Aren’t you afraid I’ll go after your wife and child?’”
"Of course I am! But right now, you have more to lose than I do."
“‘Should I call Mrs. Brooks? She just lost her beloved son, and here you are, having fathered a child with your mistress.’”
“‘She’s getting on in years too—do you think she won’t take your mistress and love child with her to the grave?’” William pulled out his phone and placed it on the coffee table, his slender fingers tapping on it, a string of numbers appearing on the screen.
“The man glanced up at him. From the sofa, he looked at the elderly gentleman standing by the door.”
“He hovered his finger in mid-air, pressing the man with his gaze. Below his fingertip, the bright green call button glowed.”
One more move down, and the call would go through.
“William raised an eyebrow, looking at him and waiting for an answer. The man remained frozen.”
His finger moved down.
“Harry never imagined that, even after reaching such a high position, he could still be pressured like this by a young man at his age.”
“But right now, he had no choice. After a long silence, Harry finally seemed to make a difficult decision. ‘Fine.’”
“William nodded and swiped the phone screen with his finger. ‘I need you to make a call right now and have the Essence Building removed from the review list.’”
"Don't you trust me?" "Somewhat," William responded.
"You truly do carry the Jimenez family blood in your bones!"
“‘Mr. Brooks, we’re both not good people. Let’s skip the insults. I don’t only carry the Jimenez family blood in my veins.’”
Who can really tell which side the bad traits come from?"
