Chapter 57
Zac
I was just finishing up with class when my phone decides to buzz. My students slowly filing out as they make their way towards their next class or in some cases, lunch, as it was now time to eat and I wouldn’t lie and say I wasn’t hungry too.
My hand quick to see who it was only to smile.
Alyssia.
Alyssia: Hey daddy…. Just wanted to let you know that we have our next doctor’s appointment in about 2 weeks. During which, we’ll learn about the babies gender and how it’s progressing.
My smile widening at the news. Alyssia and I both excited for this, more so since telling me she was pregnant. Another part of me knowing that at some point, I’d have to tell her about Ariele. My tiny slip up upon giving her the black card no fault but my own.
Yet, when you’re as rich as me, then you were bound to have enemies. My father being one of those enemies. My father thinking he was entitled to everything I owned including my company. The one Ariele was helping me run.
The same company, I would need to tell Alyssia about before somebody else did. My fingers quick to type out a message. Not wanting her to think I forgot or worse, totally ignored her.
Zac: That’s perfect baby. What time is it for? Morning or late afternoon?
Alyssia: Afternoon, I think. Between 1 and 2.
Zac: Perfect. I’ll be there with bells on.
My text bound to make her giggle. Her giggles super contagious and I absolutely loved hearing them. Another thought rising as I quickly shoot off another text.
Zac: Hey, did you eat yet baby? It’s lunch time and I know how our little food monster gets when hungry.
Alyssia: Yes 😊 Annabel and I went to a little place called Panama Bliss.
Zac: Sweet, but where’s Mia? She’s supposed to watching you, is she there?
Alyssia: She is. Why, did daddy want to come over? The café isn’t too far from Campus, so it’s completely safe to come, nobody would see you.
Hmm… really now. My mind trying to decide on what to do with that statement. A part of me really wanting to see her before my next class. The temptation far greater than the consequences and a risk I wanted to take.
Zac: Okay, you convinced me to come. I’ll be there shortly, save me a seat.
Alyssia simply sending me smiley faces and what appeared to be hands cheering. A chuckle rising within me as I begin making my way towards the direction of Panama Bliss.
~ 5 Minutes Later ~
It’s barely 5 minutes later when reaching the place Alyssia had mentioned to me over the phone. The Panama Bliss. Surprised it was indeed off campus. My eyes spotting Mia along with Alyssia and Annabel, the three of them currently sitting along a table while eating and laughing.
Alyssia seemingly laughing at something Annabel said when entering the small place.
“OMG girl, you should’ve seen him. Sam was trying so hard to open a jar for me, that it somehow exploded all over him instead. I’ve never once seen a grown man blush as hard as he did” laughs Annabel when sharing a story about Sam.
Annabel clearly retelling a classic Sam scenario. Sam the only man I knew who carried charm, class and the occasional disaster. And while I couldn’t understand how he managed to do it, it clearly worked for her.
Annabel not much older than Alyssia and while I wasn’t sure how she and Sam handled their day to day life, I was totally glad he had her. My legs quick in leading me towards the group and where they sat.
“That sounds very much like something Sam would do too.”
My voice alerting them of my presence as Alyssia just smiles before turning to greet me. “You came. I seriously didn’t think you would, considering.. you know.. but that’s silly considering you said you would. God, now I’m rambling.. just ignore me.”
Another soft chuckle rises as I carefully lean down to kiss her along the lips. Alyssia quick to calm down when I do. My voice barely a whisper when pulling away. “That’s my girl. My very good girl. And yes, of course I came, I promised I would didn’t I?”
Her eyes quick to sparkle at being called good. Her new favorite phrase. Alyssia always a good girl when she wanted to be. My heart fluttering at knowing she was mine, all mine. Another voice soon rising to greet us.
“Hello, I’m Izzy. Is there something I can help you with? Food? Drink?”
“I’ll have a coffee and whatever this lovely lady is having” I say, my eyes now on Izzy when moving to stand. Not wanting to draw any unwanted attention to us.
“Sure, coming right up.”
Once gone, I finally pull the chair out from beside my beautiful woman. Her face glowing as she continues to carry my child. My hand coming to rest along her thigh as I listen to those around me. People coming and going while others whispered about things related to them. Mia listening as well. Her subtle facial expressions clear as day. Alyssia oblivious to those around her as she and Annabel continue to talk. A piece of me grateful.
My eyes soon on Mia.
“So Mia, how’s day one? These two behaving or giving you trouble?”
“It’s going well sir, and yes, both are behaving rather nicely. No “problems” to report as of now.”
Nodding, I quickly thank Izzy before taking a sip of my coffee. A piece of me aware of what Mia meant by saying the word problem. Brian and Hendricks. Two of the three men I needed to worry about when Alyssia was alone.
“Good. Glad to hear it.”
Our table soon silent as we sit and enjoy our food. Annabel sharing bits and pieces about her day while Alyssia did the same. The two clearly close.
“Oh, that reminds me, you coming into work later?”
“Um… maybe. I don’t know, we’ll see how I feel later on. This second trimester is kicking my ass.”
“It’s cool. Just curious is all. If not, I’ll come over later and chill if that’s fine with Zac.”
“Of course Annabel. Your welcome over anytime. I don’t want Alyssia feeling isolated because of it. My home is her home now.”
“Good to know.” Annabel simply smiling as we continue our lunch, my hand quick in paying the bill before the four of us leave. My need to get back to classes a must while Alyssia and Annabel along with Mia all did there own thing. My hand stopping Alyssia just long enough for me to kiss her once more.
“See you later tonight baby.”
Another blush rising as Alyssia slowly nods. “See you later… Daddy.”
