Chapter 33: Lost lover
Oliva didn't even spend half the time it took to reach HQ when she was driving. Sitting in that helicopter, time literally flew by. The gray sky still bathed that day with a persistent chilly breeze, the city, the forest, and the little streams below made her realize how insignificant her personal problems with the Allens were.
Her mind still faithfully battled against her devious desires, against the daring mischief that replayed the images, the sensations when Matteo was on top of her..., but she enjoyed those cheesy moments that Lian gave her so much, the secretly held hands to avoid drawing attention, his feline gaze overflowing with love, and their passionate nights.
However, in the midst of this untitled relationship, there were secrets that Oliva never thought of revealing to anyone alive. Like her connection with magic, which was strictly dangerous, as if this information leaked, it would only be the Omega that brought ruin to the peace between the packs.
Her choices now were directly linked to her position, but if she could go back, she would make the same choice a million times. Oliva earned respect without even revealing her true strength, and that was enough for her.
Matteo now shared this most intimate secret, and the young woman prayed that her instincts were right when they demonstrated the true bond of loyalty between them. Otherwise, she didn't know how far she would go to keep the situation under control.
When the helicopter finally landed on her property, Oliva stepped off it a little more tense than she had imagined. It had been three days since her last private conversation with Lian. He hadn't responded to her messages or even answered when she called. Clearly, he was avoiding her.
Lian had been acting very strangely these days. Even after the wedding, after their agreement, it still felt like there was something there that Oliva couldn't see. The relationship between Lian and Matteo was so good, and she felt like she was the cause of a fraternal rupture. Her husband didn't even regret breaking his brother in that ring, and it deeply bothered her.
Now she would have to choose her words very carefully if she wanted to spend a moment with Lian without further ruining what was already ruined. Oliva didn't regret at any moment having sex with Matteo; she enjoyed every second of it. But she definitely couldn't use those words in front of her boyfriend, never. She had to find a way to keep him by her side, even if she had to use empty promises.
"Oliva, darling. How was your trip?" Marie asks as soon as the girl gets off the aircraft, helping her with her small luggage.
"Despite the expected setbacks, everything went well," Oliva says and smiles mischievously, "What's all this commotion?" She asks, looking ahead. There were many people entering and leaving the mansion, carrying heavy things, food, and drinks.
"Oh, that's the annual philanthropic party of the Moores," Marie answers the young woman and walks calmly beside her, "Did you forget it's tomorrow?"
"No," Oliva looks away, feeling slightly uncomfortable. "I just thought there wouldn't be one this year because of my father's death."
"I understand, but despite our feelings, it will be good!" Marie says, giving a warm smile that slightly warms Oliva's icy heart. "Darling, your husband should be by your side tomorrow as you are now the official hosts of the family. Would you like me to send the helicopter to pick him up?"
Oliva's eyes light up with a wild idea haunting her.
"No!" She quickly says, so fast that she tries to mask her distress. "I mean, no..." She softens her voice and puts her hands behind her back, pretending. "I already have something planned with Matteo. I'm sure he'll be here tonight." Oliva confirms and smiles mischievously. "Is my brother organizing the event?"
"Yes, he is," Marie promptly responds and ignores Oliva's mischievous look. She had known her for a long time, and the older woman knew very well when Oliva wanted to stir up trouble. "You can find him in the main office. I'll leave your things in your quarters. If you need anything, just let me know." Marie bids farewell to Oliva as they reach the mansion's main entrance.
Oliva watches Marie climb the stairs, leaving her alone there, lingering with her thoughts. She didn't want to ask the housekeeper about her lover, Lian, and sound desperate. She wanted to know where he was and what he had been doing for these three days she was traveling with her husband.
Oliva's mind was so confused about this matter that she couldn't even bear to think about it herself. So she went to the office to find her brother.
"Samuel, where's the..." Oliva opens the office door and comes face to face with her brother kissing a woman she had never seen before. The couple separates in surprise, the girl takes a step back and aligns herself next to Samuel. She was embarrassed, but Oliva found the situation adorable. "Oops, sorry. I'll knock next time," Oliva makes a gesture to step back, but her brother calls her.
"It's alright, Oliv," he says with a gentle smile on his face, looking at the girl next to him. "This is Aria Lands," he introduces the girl next to him.
Lands was the name of the family that led one of the strongest packs in the region. Oliva had already met their alpha king, Victor Lands, in a meeting with her father, in an attempt to form a union treaty between the packs, but without success. At that time, the Lands didn't want to associate with the Moores due to their lack of trust in Leonard Moore's daring decisions.
"Oh, Aria, how is your father?" Oliva asks, trying to sound friendly, and enters the office, closing the door behind her, staring at the tall, blonde girl. Aria seemed like she had come straight out of a supermodel magazine, always looking stunning.
"He's doing well. You'll be able to see him in person tomorrow," Aria says politely. "It seems like things have changed a lot since the last time I saw you."
"Indeed," Oliva says somewhat vague, as she never had much closeness with Aria.
"Well, I'll leave you two to talk," Aria grabs her bag and gives Samuel a quick peck on the lips. "See you soon, Oliva."
Aria leaves the office, and Samuel looks at his sister with amusement.
"Seriously, it had to be the Wolf of the Year?" Oliva asks a bit cynically to her younger brother. "I have nothing against her, but she's so beautiful that it's almost irritating," she lets out a laugh.
"I'm still a wolf with needs," Samuel says, joining in the light laughter with his sister. "Who are you looking for?" He changes the subject.
"I wanted to know about Lian," she says, looking around, ceasing her laughter. "Is he still around?"
"Actually, no." Samuel responds and looks at his sister. "Lian has fully recovered from his injuries and left a couple of days ago." Samuel responds, waiting for Oliva's reaction, which momentarily surprises her.
Certainly, Lian was extremely irritated with Oliva's actions. After all, she traveled with Matteo without even informing him.
"Do you know where he went?" Oliva asks, biting her tongue trying not to reveal her nervousness.
"I have no idea... but why do you want to know where he is?" Samuel asks, puzzled by his sister's restlessness.
"Oh, nothing. I just wanted to talk and apologize for putting the Allens in this situation again," Oliva lies and sighs.
Oliva gives a small smile to her brother while wondering where to start her search for Lian.
