Chapter 24: Pursuance

Oliva was silently grateful that Matteo had spent the night clinging to her. Physical dependence was already an irritating and necessary constancy, and Omega’s evil was not having enough heat to raise his body temperature in heat cycles. Omegas needed alphas, that was the law of nature.

The request had died on her lips, but the words were not even spoken, and Matteo hugged her tightly from that small touch and they had not been apart since. There Oliva slept in his arms quickly, torpid and enjoying the warmth that emanated from his dark skin, in a complete secret left in that inn.

When the young woman awoke, she didn't find her husband there as she remembered and even wondered if it was a figment of her imagination how safe and comfortable, she felt being welcomed into the alpha's strong arms. Matteo was still fast asleep in the next bed.

The rest of the trip was too quiet. Matteo was being attentive and even polite, his face was calm and he was smiling even at the insects that were dirtying the windshield of the car, making her extremely suspicious.

But there was something wrong with Olivia; she was aware of his strange behaviors, the blooming desires and his wild instincts, yet she didn't know if she was attracted to

Matteo because of her gene's need to seek a partner or if her fucked up mind was challenging her because of the teasing games. Their embrace was much more than simple bodily contact, it was as if the universe aligned itself and had the favor of physical contact between their genes, something the young woman had always doubted existed.

The bond between an Alpha and an Omega was much more irrational and transcendent than just carnal contact or pleasure, it acted as a deep and friendly connection. The young girl had never even imagined what such a bond would be like, she had no desire or hope in finding the 'ideal partner', the chance was rare, like every two in a hundred and in these cases it was the sleeping wolf that subjugated the blooming Omega, making it its own and not allowing it to live away from her, bound in invisible chains, its pleasure was only satiated with its alpha, the pleasure of both was only satiated with its mate and if one of them died the other would also die of sadness or even insatiability.

It was a sick and paranormal dependency that nature determined to dictate as the correct and most sincere way to procreate.

That was crazy.

Oliva had always been terrified of these stories, which to her ears sounded like horrifying horror stories that didn't even let her sleep at night. After all, who wanted to be submissive to the point of being killed by some stupid, arrogant wolf?

But everything seemed so right and wrong at the same time when she was around Matteo. The beastly chants or the forced approaches even in a superficial way, she felt her gene screaming and begging for a moment to have satisfaction and peace with this alpha. Matteo's alpha. Oliva even though she had never, experienced anything like it, knew exactly what it was all about, no matter how much she denied it.

The bonding whore had formed.

The young woman wasn't even ready to admit to herself about what had happened, so she couldn't talk to Matteo, she stubbornly kept silent. She had a boyfriend, a capable alpha that was Lian. Lian had everything she was looking for, which was understanding, maturity, partnership and he would definitely never cross her set boundaries. Lian completed her in a surreal way.

But it was different from this 'forced' and fucked-up natural approach that Matteo took. It seemed so right and natural that it was impossible to resist. He was coarse, confrontational, stuck-up, and unbearable.

Oliva reflected as she walked through the halls of the ABO national HQ. No matter where she walked, these stares were incessant, as in a silent trial, everyone had doubts about her ability to be there. Her task there was clear, she had to seek out her allies, but the first face she sees is Dimitri's as she crosses the meeting room. He was sitting as if he owned that place with his elbows propped up on the table and his look was stale.

"Welcome my dear cousin." He stresses the last word as if it were a curse. His bound hair escaped with a few curly rebellious locks that fell on his face giving him more charm than usual, Dimitri was the official Moore blond.

"Where are my little wolves?" Oliva straightens her posture and runs her fingertips across the rectangular glass table staring at him methodically. The room had a lot of natural lighting due to the glass wall that showed the panoramic view of the forest at the apex of the vegetation, it was as if that room was situated in the closed forest, it was beautiful to be in there.

"I'm not surprised no one showed up... We're wolves, Oliva." Dimitri lets his head tip to the side and leans on his hand in disguised boredom. "And no wolf wants to be subjected to an Omega, especially if that's you."

Oliva was not going to fall for this phony penny-pinching performance. Dimitri wasn't going to get what he wanted.

"Listen, I'm going to the valley past the forest, gather the pack there in a few minutes or I'll have to do things to you that I don't want." She warns him without any room for jokes, sounding very serious and firm. From today on, she would no longer let her gene be mentioned as if it were an anomaly.

Oliva turned around and her boots clashed on the dark porcelain tile floor and echoed off the walls in that structure that seemed empty. This was a training center for lone wolves who liked to live in the wild, and of course, with a bit of comfort and technology. There was no place to brag about luxuries, they were brute wolves and the only thing that interested them was a higher purpose and having a cause to defend.

The full branches swayed with the gust of wind that continued cold and strong, the weather was not closed and rays of sunlight escaped from the clouds so white they made your eyes hurt if you stared at them too long. The icy breeze crashed against the softly drawn face of the young woman who was well sheltered, wearing thick thermal clothing and a firm black sportswear of hunter type, her hair was tied tightly on top of her head showing a confidence that with each step through the low grass that surrounded the structure.

Oliva didn't have fond memories of the forest, of sleepless nights fleeing from hunting wolves, of intense training and muscle pain. The young woman did her best to always be ready for any kind of situation or physical confrontation and completely forgot to work on her emotional side that was now totally destabilized in the midst of the chaos.

Her thoughts ceased when she heard extremely loud growls coming from the east, then her senses sharpened, she sent all her sentimental apathetic euphoria to the bottom of her being and became alert. The young woman walked quickly through the dry leaves towards the direction of the commotion that was becoming louder and more animalistic by the second, always with her guard up, she started to run when she heard shouts of support and outrageous howls.

When she reached the top of the small hill, she could see from above the wolves in a large circle making room for two rabid transmutes to face each other. Their deformed animalistic countenances sparked fury and their eyes were shrouded in a completely black mist and willing to do anything to continue this.

Oliva's heart calmed down and she took a deep breath, calming herself from the sudden agitation and simply leaned against one of the broken logs over there, watching. The scene was chaotic and aggressive, one of the wolves attacked the other with a swipe at its trunk, scratching it deeply and causing it to spew an absurd amount of blood out of the wolf's body. — Oliva looked up.

Wolves.

They always settled between bites and growls.

One of them was already limping, barely able to stand, and the other had a cut on his back. Those wolves were so immersed in their entertainment that they didn't even notice the Omega sitting there watching them behave like savages.

Another wolf who was watching the scene also howled and three more joined him transmuting simultaneously and four others on the other side of the field did the same.

This was taking on new proportions. Oliva's blood froze for a moment making her soul want to leave her small body, but she wasn't afraid of wolves and so pulled her to her rightful place.

In the distance, on the other side of the valley Oliva spots Dimitri with his blond hair with a laughing face and in his hand was a low glass that the girl assumed was whiskey raising it in a form of greeting. — 'so, you're celebrating...?' she wonders as she stands up bravely determined and pulls out from inside her leather jacket a glistening silver canteen, raising it in return to the blonde, and gives him a wink and a sly smile.

Oliva opens the canteen as he watches the wolves join the stupid brawl and animalistic entrap each other, the coarse noises, the pheromones spewing out unintentionally would make any Omega weak and frightened by being too brutal and violent, but not this Omega. Oliva takes a long sip of the bitter drink that his palate knew very well and takes a step forward not believing what he was about to do.

The young woman descends from the small hill without difficulty sliding between the dry foliage and throws a fresh layer of sweetened mint through the air, strong enough to unsettle some of the Alphas around. As soon as she gained attention, all the wolves turn to the far end where Oliva was nonchalantly walking among the alphas who were looking at her fascinated.

The Omega was surprised. She didn't expect to gain all that attention, her gaze passed between them quickly and she could tell that almost ninety percent of the wolves there were affected by her minty essence. Oliva was destined to be different from the moment she was born, her scent was different from the other Omegas that were usually sweet or had mild, citrus smelling fruits. But her unique scent of fresh mint sweetened the senses of the wolves who felt contempt or curiosity in her.

She was not crazy to get into the middle of a wolf fight without a good weapon.

It turned out that her greatest asset was her greatest 'weakness'. Oliva learned as a young girl that an Omega would destabilize any alpha just by directing the right potency of intimate pheromones causing her to hit it squarely against her olfactory tracts. Of course, it's not such a simple thing to do and not everyone had this information, not least because the Omega had to be submissive and vulnerable in order for the system to keep working the way the alphas wanted it to, so they could dominate even the thoughts

of anyone weaker than them.

Their presence burned as if on fire on that cold autumn afternoon. Oliva stopped in front of the two wolves that had started the battle, the heel of his boot was low, so he had to raise his head to face them in a serious and disapproving way.

The scene could even be comical.
