Chapter 24

\---

“Isn’t this the road leading to a hotel? Seriously?”

“These two… they’re already old, yet still doing something so disgusting!” Luna muttered angrily to herself, grumbling as she realized the road they were taking led to the biggest hotel in the city.

And just as Luna suspected, Debora and her father’s lawyer stopped at the hotel lobby. The two of them got out of the car while holding hands.

“Look at them, acting young and having an affair!”

“I remember that my father’s lawyer already has a wife and child… I just forgot what their name is.”

Luna prepared herself. She took out her phone and turned on the camera.

“Please wait here, Sir. I’ll be right back.” Luna said as she hurried out. She didn’t want to lose their trail.

She quickly ran and started taking pictures of the two of them together using her new phone.

With the appearance she thought looked like someone in disguise—when in reality, she looked extremely conspicuous with her style.

“Gosh!” Just as Luna was seriously tailing them, Debora suddenly glanced back, which startled Luna.

She immediately hid behind a large potted plant near the hotel lobby.

Her actions drew attention from people around her—especially those inside cars heading toward the hotel.

“Huh? Isn’t that the woman I met at the cemetery before?”

“Wow, fate really can’t be avoided. Without even looking for her, she came right to me!”

Felix was inside one of the cars. For certain reasons, he chose to stay at a hotel instead of his late grandparents’ house.

He felt lonely staying in that large house alone, so he preferred staying at a hotel while handling his business here.

But who would have thought—this would lead him to meet the woman who had caught his attention yesterday… the woman in a wedding dress who had been crying alone.

“You go ahead, I’ll get off here.” He told his subordinate who was driving, deciding to get out and approach her himself.

Felix was quite confident. With his looks and wealth, he believed he could have anything he wanted.

He stepped out of the car and stood right beside Luna, copying her behavior as he peeked toward the hotel lobby.

“Who are you spying on?” Felix asked softly, smiling faintly as he watched Luna’s very obvious attempt at being discreet.

Not realizing who was speaking, Luna replied instinctively, “Quiet, we’ll get caught.” she whispered, then stood up straight, frowning.

“Who just asked me that?” She turned her head reflexively—and her eyes widened again when she saw the tall man beside her. At 188 cm, he was only 2 cm shorter than Matthias.

“Your face looks familiar… who are you?” Luna couldn’t recall who he was.

After all, they had met in the rain, and her vision had been blurry from crying so much—of course she wouldn’t remember clearly.

“Hmmm…” Felix smiled faintly, then extended his hand for a handshake.

“We didn’t properly introduce ourselves yesterday. I’m Felix Warren, nice to meet you.” Felix smiled at Luna and even gave her a wink, signaling for her to take his hand.

‘Huh? Who is this weird man? Why is he winking at me? He said we didn’t properly introduce ourselves yesterday… yesterday I only met a strange man at the cemetery…’ As Luna muttered inwardly, she finally remembered.

“Oooohh, so your name is Felix…”

“Hello, nice to meet you!” Luna shook Felix’s hand, then immediately turned her head back toward the lobby as she spoke quickly. “But sorry, I’m really busy right now…”

“Gosh, where did those two go? I lost them!” Luna panicked, wanting to run into the hotel immediately—but her hand was still being held by Felix.

“Huh?”

“What are you doing? Let go of my hand!” Luna turned back, annoyed. She needed to catch up with Debora and her father’s lawyer.

But Felix only smiled faintly. “Your hand is so small and soft… I can’t help wanting to hold it a little longer.”

He held her hand for a few more seconds before finally letting go.

“Hah! What a strange man!” Luna muttered under her breath. But she didn’t have time to deal with him—she had to chase after those two.

Without responding further, Luna quickly ran into the hotel lobby, wanting to immediately ask which room they had gone to.

Meanwhile, Felix followed her, continuing to ask, “Hey, who exactly are you following?”

“You look very serious. Are they important to you?”

He quickened his pace, catching up to Luna who was rushing ahead.

Luna, clearly not in the mood to talk, only glanced at him briefly and let out a long sigh.

“Haaah!”

Her expression clearly showed she didn’t want to be disturbed.

When Luna reached the reception desk, the female receptionists were immediately captivated by Felix’s handsome appearance—especially when he smiled.

Felix really was a playboy who enjoyed charming people.

“Excuse me, could you please tell me which room the two people who just came in are staying in? The woman’s name is Debora. Please, this is urgent.”

Luna asked one of the receptionists, who had just been distracted by Felix standing beside her.

“Huh?”

“Umm… what was that, Miss?”

The receptionist asked Luna to repeat herself, as she hadn’t heard a word earlier.

“Haaaah!” Luna looked irritated and glanced to her side. She lifted her chin slightly and bit her lower lip in frustration.

She saw Felix waving at the receptionists and smiling sweetly—clearly flirting with them.

“Why do I have to run into such a weird man… I’m really tired of this.” Luna muttered softly, taking a deep breath to calm herself.

“Excuse me?”

The receptionist’s voice snapped Luna back to her main purpose for coming here.

“Here’s the thing … I want to know the room number of the two people who just checked in. I have something very important to take care of—would that be possible?”

Luna asked for help again, but unfortunately, according to the hotel’s SOP, the receptionist could not give out room numbers to just anyone who wasn’t directly involved.

“I’m sorry, Miss, but we can’t provide that information. It’s part of the hotel’s policy.”

The receptionist apologized and explained that she couldn’t give the room number.

“I see…” Luna looked very dejected. She really wanted to know what was actually going on between them. She wanted to catch them in the act, even if that action might be a bit reckless.

“Who are they to you? Maybe I can help? Why do you look so desperate like this?”

Felix crossed his arms, slightly lowering himself so he could look at Luna’s face from up close.

“Kyaaa… he’s so handsome.” The receptionists whispered softly, completely captivated by his good looks and his smooth voice.

“Haaah!”

Once again, Luna let out a heavy sigh. Without realizing it, she ended up telling everything.

“That man is my dad’s lawyer, and that woman is my dad’s second wife. Even though my dad has passed away, that man clearly has a wife and a child.”

“And I need to make sure about my dad's inheritance letter. I’m sure the two of them worked together to alter the will!”

“But even if I catch them, I still won’t have any proof that the inheritance letter has been forged.” Luna explained at length.

Her words shocked all the receptionists, while Felix smiled.

Luna turned to look at Felix and once again let out a long sigh.

“Haaaah!”

“Why am I telling all of this to a stranger… I must be too tired. I should just go home!” Luna complained as she was about to leave, but Felix immediately stopped her.

He grabbed Luna’s hand and confidently took out his business card. “I told you I can help you. Just wait a moment.”

Felix said, and the receptionists who received the card were immediately shocked when they saw the surname—Warren.

One of them quickly opened the internet and searched for his profile, where it showed that Felix Warren was related to the owner of this hotel and shared the same Warren surname.

“Oh my, we’re so sorry, Sir, we didn’t recognize you.”

All the receptionists bowed and apologized for not recognizing Felix earlier—they should have shown respect from the start.

“It’s fine. Now that you know who I am, that means I can ask for something, right?” Felix smiled again, making the women completely fall for him.

“Of course, Sir.” The receptionist replied, then glanced at Luna with a playful smile.

“In that case, fulfill this lady’s request.” Felix said, making Luna instantly delighted.

With that, Luna finally found out which room Debora and her father’s lawyer were staying in.

“But if I may give you some advice, it would be very risky if you confront them now. It would be better if you gather evidence first, then figure out how to obtain the inheritance letter. And once everything is already in your hands…”

“Boom!”

“You can expose everything. A strategy like that is much better than confronting them now and ending up creating more problems for yourself.”

Felix gave Luna advice, and it made perfect sense.

Luna also realized it. Confronting them now would only create new problems for her, especially since she carried the identity of a former prisoner—her image was already bad, and Debora and her father’s lawyer could easily twist the facts.

Because of that, in the end, Felix booked a room right next to Debora and Luna’s father’s lawyer. At the very least, Luna wanted to hear their conversation.

...

When they arrived at the hotel room, Luna immediately grabbed a glass from the room and pressed it against the wall, placing her ear against it.

She had often seen this in the dramas she watched when she was younger.

“Ah, why can’t I hear anything?”

“So the dramas I watched were lying?”

“Then what’s the point of me being here?”

Luna grew annoyed on her own. She couldn’t hear anything that Debora and her father’s lawyer were doing in the room next door.

“Pffftt…” Felix chuckled softly. He sat on the sofa in the spacious and luxurious room, then observed Luna’s appearance—so covered, yet still incredibly beautiful.

Luna, who heard his laughter, ignored it. She chose to stand near the door instead, so she could know when the two of them came out and follow them again.

“Since the two of us are in the same room… how about we have some fun together?”

“I know this might be surprising, but you’re the first woman who has ever made my heart race like this.” Felix said, rubbing his chest and giving Luna a very seductive smile.

He thought Luna would be tempted.

“Heh!”

“I’ve heard lines like that from men before—and usually, they’re playboys!” Luna snapped, pressing her ear back against the door so she could stay focused on listening for when they came out.

“HAHAHA! How interesting.”

“But I’m not lying. You’re the woman who made my heart race and captivated me the moment I saw you. I feel like we’re destined to be together.” Felix said again, this time seriously.

He had never felt this before, and he was sure Luna was his destiny—the woman who would become his lover.

“Haaah!” Luna could only shake her head and didn’t respond anymore. She didn’t care about anything Felix said. She would only focus on her own business.

...

On the other side,

Matthias couldn’t focus on his work at all. He kept tapping his desk with his index finger.

“Why isn’t she home yet?”

“Why is it taking so long?”

“Is she cheating out there?”

“Ah, damn it! Just thinking about her is already making my anger explode!” Matthias growled, then grabbed his phone and called the personal driver he had assigned to accompany Luna wherever she went.

“Ring… Ring… Ring!”

“Hello, Sir?”

The driver immediately answered. He was parked in the hotel parking lot, waiting for Luna to finish her business.

“Where is she?”

Matthias asked, his index finger still tapping against the desk, creating a constant sound.

“At a hotel, Sir.” The driver’s answer made Matthias freeze in shock, and he stood up abruptly.

“A HOTEL? WITH WHO?”

Matthias grabbed his jacket—he had been wearing home clothes—and was about to head there immediately.

The driver, hearing his master’s raised voice, slightly moved the phone away from his ear.

“As far as I know, she’s alone, Sir. But she seems to be spying on someone, that’s why she went inside the hotel.”

The driver explained, but Matthias, unable to think clearly, replied in a low and pressing tone,

“Send me the hotel address right now!” Matthias ordered, already walking quickly, his expression completely restless.

All the servants immediately lowered their heads in fear when they saw their master’s expression—they knew he was furious.

“You better watch yourself, Luna. If you’re cheating on me, I will truly make you regret ever being alive!”

Matthias growled, his mind filled with the worst possibilities. He got into the car, and the driver immediately sped off toward the hotel.

...

Meanwhile, on Luna’s side,

She didn’t want to listen to Felix’s chatter. She only wanted to focus on what she was doing.

“So cold… but I like it even more.”

“In that case, can you give me your phone number?”

Felix still didn’t give up on flirting with Luna. Even though she kept ignoring him, he continued trying to talk to her.

“That just now was great… anyway, remember this—don’t let Luna find that inheritance letter.”

Debora hugged Gale—the name of Luna’s father’s lawyer, who already had a wife and children.

“Of course, darling. I’ll make sure Luna will never be able to find it.” Gale replied, returning Debora’s embrace.

Their affair had been going on for a long time—even when Luna’s father was still alive.

The two of them had already come out of the hotel room, looking very intimate with each other.

...

When Luna heard that they had come out, she was already prepared. She slowly opened the hotel room door and peeked outside.

And her guess was right—Debora and Gale had already left their room.

“Oh my God… just seeing their affair makes me sick!” Luna whispered, waiting for them to enter the elevator so she could follow them again.

After a few minutes, Luna was sure they had entered the elevator, and she immediately opened the door to run after them.

But then...

“If we meet again, you have to give me your phone number, alright?”

“I’m sure we’ll meet again.” Felix called out, completely ignored by Luna.

Luna immediately ran down the hotel corridor toward the elevator.

Felix let out a long sigh. “That ring on her finger… is that an engagement ring or a wedding ring?”

“If it’s a wedding ring, that would make sense. She was crying in a wedding dress yesterday… but the fact that she was crying at her family’s grave on her wedding day means that her marriage isn’t a happy one.”

‘That means I still have a chance.’

“Hmmm!” Felix immediately analyzed the ring on Luna’s finger.

Felix was very intelligent—he could analyze things with just a glance.

And he was sure his analysis wasn’t wrong. Even if Luna was already married, he believed he could take her away easily.
