Chapter 272: You Dare Yell at Me?
A slender figure practically vibrating with hostility walked in. Austin looked up, his expression shifting slightly.
Winnie had barely stepped inside when the first thing she saw was the mess all over the floor.
She frowned, clearly in a bad mood. "Are you crazy?"
Without waiting for Austin to respond, Winnie kicked aside the debris on the floor and plopped down on the sofa with a huff.
Austin took a deep breath, forcing out a smile. "It's nothing. What brings you here?"
He shouldn't have said anything. The moment he spoke, Winnie raised her eyebrows and snapped in a sharp voice, "This is my house! Do I need a reason to come here?"
"And you dare to ask me! it was all because of the mess you created!"
"That Olivia—she actually married into the Robinsons! Do you know what that means!"
Winnie got angrier as she spoke. "It means that whenever I attend a party, she would be there too!"
"I haven't even settled the score with her from last time at the restaurant! And now she would be showing up right in front of me!"
"That bitch! It's all your fault! If it weren't for you, I would never have to deal with such a lowlife in my entire life!"
Austin lowered his head, his fists clenched.
Winnie didn't seem to notice. She crossed her arms and let out a mocking laugh, continued sarcastically, "You know what, I have to say, you two make quite the capable couple."
"Even after the divorce, one of you managed to latch onto our Penrose family, and the other one was even more impressive, actually managed to land someone like Brandon."
"I bet that bitch was just born with Innate seductive capabilities, seeing how she seduces men! Acting all high and mighty, but who knows what dirty tricks she used behind the scenes!"
"Otherwise, how could someone like Brandon possibly be interested in her?"
She went on and on, but Austin never responded. Getting annoyed, she kicked him. "Cat got your tongue? Say something!"
"You were married to that bitch Olivia for two years, you must know her tricks, right? Come on, tell me, just how much of a slut is she?"
As Winnie got more and more out of line, Austin's fists clenched tighter and tighter.
He wasn't a good-tempered person to begin with. Back in the Roberts family, he'd always been pampered and privileged. If it weren't for his current situation, he would never put up with serving a woman like Winnie.
But Winnie wouldn't let up. Right now, all Austin could hear was her endless cursing, and his shins kept getting kicked.
"Enough!"
Austin suddenly lost control. He jerked his head up, eyes bloodshot, and roared at Winnie, "Shut up!"
The outburst was so fierce and vicious that it felt like it shook the entire room.
Winnie froze in place, the cruel mockery on her face instantly disappeared as she stared at Austin in disbelief.
In all the time they'd been together, Austin had always been obedient and submissive to her, never dared to even raise his voice at her, let alone yell.
After two seconds of shock, Winnie's expression changed dramatically. "Austin, you dare yell at me?"
"Are you insane! You're yelling at me because of Olivia?"
"Well, Austin, I see you're getting cocky now! Think you've got some skills, so you can give me attitude, is that it!"
Winnie started cursing him out. Her yelling snapped Austin back to reality.
He irritably rubbed his face, trying to soften his attitude. "That's not what I meant, Winnie..."
"I don't care what you meant!"
But Winnie wouldn't let it go, pointing at Austin's nose and launching into a tirade. "Austin, don't forget how you got your current lifestyle!"
"If it weren't for me and my dad, you'd be a bankrupt loser that everyone despises!"
"Your company, your
assets, they're all thanks to me, and you dare lose your temper with me! Who do you think you are!"
Austin just took it. He shook his head helplessly, reaching out to try to calm Winnie down.
"Winnie, I didn't mean to..."
"I was just in a bad mood; it was impulsive. Please don't be angry, okay?"
But Winnie wasn't buying it.
She was a pampered socialite who's always been treated like a princess. She'd never been treated like this before.
She laughed coldly. "Bad mood? Being in a bad mood gives you the right to yell at me? Austin, know your place!"
"I pay for all your daily expenses. Even the place you're living in now is mine. What right do you have to lose your temper with me?"
"You think I'm some useless woman like Olivia? Someone you can just boss around however you want?"
Austin's face turned ashen.
He lowered his head in humiliation, not daring to argue back, only apologized over and over. "I was wrong, Winnie, I was really wrong..."
Winnie snorted coldly, looked down at him with an icy tone. "You know you were wrong?"
Austin quickly nodded. Winnie lifted her chin high. "Kneel down."
Austin's head shot up, he stared at Winnie in disbelief. "Winnie... what do you mean?"
Winnie's expression grew even colder. "Didn't you say you knew you were wrong? If you know you're wrong, then apologize properly. Kneel and apologize to me!"
Austin's face darkened further, embarrassment flashed in his eyes. "Winnie, that's not necessary..."
"I said, kneel down!"
Winnie suddenly raised her voice. "Now, immediately, right this instant!"
"You dared to yell at me today, tomorrow you'll try to walk all over me! If I don't teach you a lesson today, you'll never know your place!"
"Kneel!"
Her sharp, piercing screams filled his ears. Austin felt dazed. He looked up blankly at Winnie's vicious, domineering face, then thought of the Penrose family's power, his chest tightening painfully.
He clenched his fists, the humiliation almost drowning him.
But he couldn't resist.
After a few seconds of silence, Austin closed his eyes. His legs bent slightly, and under Winnie's cold gaze, he slowly knelt down on the floor.
His knees hit the hard, cold floor heavily. Austin felt his dignity completely shatter in that moment.
He kept his head deeply bowed, saying nothing.
Winnie watched coldly and let out a contemptuous snort, a smirk playing at her lips. "Smart move."
Austin said nothing. Winnie glanced at him sideways, then suddenly thought of something and pulled out her phone.
Austin's head shot up, staring at her actions in shock. "What are you doing!"
"What am I doing? Taking evidence, of course!"
Winnie casually snapped a few more photos. Austin instinctively raised his hand to block her. Winnie sneered, "Weren't you so tough just now? This is the proof!"
"Next time you dare yell at me, I'll send these photos to my dad along with everything else!"
"Let him see exactly what kind of person you are!"
Austin's face went pale instantly.
Without much thought, he scrambled up to grab the phone from Winnie's hand. "Don't you dare send those pictures!"
His sudden outburst caught Winnie completely off guard. She instinctively pulled her hand back.
