Chapter 68
Anna's POV
The cab hummed through the city, headlights cutting the dark. Daniel sat beside me, chatting about the gala. I nodded, half-listening, my mind stuck on Adrian's face—those stormy eyes when I'd left with Daniel.
We stopped at my building. Daniel walked me to the door, ever the gentleman. "You okay?" he asked, hands in his pockets.
"Yeah. Thanks for the save tonight." I smiled, tight.
"Anytime." He grinned, then turned back to the cab. "Night, Anna."
I watched him go, keys in hand. The street was quiet—too quiet. Then a shadow moved.
Adrian stepped out from the corner, suit crisp, face hard. My heart jolted.
"What, no invite for your 'boyfriend' ?" His voice dripped venom, eyes locked on Daniel's retreating cab.
I stiffened, keys biting my palm. "What are you doing here?"
He closed the gap, towering over me. "You ditched me. Said ten minutes. Never showed."
"I sent the report." I held his stare. "We're done for tonight."
"Done?" He sneered, stepping closer. "With me, maybe. But him? Boyfriend gets a ride home?"
My pulse raced. "It's not your business, Adrian."
"Not my business?" He grabbed my arm, voice low and furious. "After all this? I'm just your fuck-buddy while he plays the knight?"
I yanked free, heat flooding me. "You don't get to own me. Adrian. Never did."
"Own you?" His laugh was harsh. "I've been chasing your ass, waiting for you to give a damn."
"Then stop." I turned, unlocking my door. "We're done."
He seized my wrist, yanking me back. "Done? After you've screamed my name?" His eyes burned. "Not that easy."
Anger and want crashed in me. "One last time, then. End it."
His mouth smashed mine—brutal, teeth clashing. I shoved him inside, door slamming. We tore at each other—my nails ripped his jacket off, his hands shredded my dress's hem.
He pinned me to the wall, hard. "You're mine tonight," he snarled, lifting me by the thighs. My legs clamped around him, dress bunching.
"Then take it," I spat, clawing his neck.
He ripped my panties down, fingers plunging in—wet, hot, ruthless. I gasped as he pumped them, thumb grinding my clit. "Still soaked for me," he growled, unzipping fast.
His cock sprang out—thick, throbbing, leaking at the tip. He grabbed my hair, pulling me down. "On your knees. You owe me."
I glared, breath ragged. "Owe you?"
"Office," he said, voice dark. "I ate you out till you screamed. Last time, Anna. Suck me."
Anger flared, but I dropped, gripping his base. My lips closed around him—hot, salty, pulsing. He groaned, hand fisting my hair, shoving deeper. "Fuck, yes," he rasped, hips bucking. My tongue swirled his tip, tasting him, throat stretching as he hit the back.
I pulled off, spitting, defiant. "Enough."
"Not yet." He yanked me up, slamming me back to the wall. His cock pressed my slit, slick with my spit and arousal. "Spread," he ordered, forcing my thighs apart.
I cursed, but opened. He thrust in—hard, deep, splitting me. My pussy clenched, dripping around him. "Shit," I moaned, nails digging his shoulders.
He pounded me, relentless—cock slamming, balls slapping my ass. "Say you're mine," he growled, hand squeezing my tit through the dress, pinching my nipple raw.
"Never," I hissed, biting his lip till I tasted blood. My hips rocked, meeting his fury, clit pulsing under the friction.
He flipped me, bending me over the couch. My hands braced the armrest as he spread my ass, thrusting back in. "Fuck you're tight," he grunted, ramming harder. His fingers dug into my hips, bruising.
Pleasure coiled, sharp and brutal. "Faster," I demanded, voice breaking.
He obeyed, savage—cock pistoning, wet slaps echoing. "Come for me," he snarled, slapping my ass hard. The sting tipped me over. I screamed, orgasm ripping through—pussy spasming, soaking him, legs shaking.
He roared, thrusts wild. "Anna—" He exploded, cum flooding me, hot and thick. His cock twitched, spilling more as he pinned me down.
He pulled out, cum dripping down my thighs. For a moment, neither of us moved. The fury that had driven us slowly ebbed away, replaced by an exhausted emptiness. His hand remained on my waist, thumb absently stroking my skin - an oddly tender gesture after such violence.
I felt him step back, heard his uneven breathing matching mine. The silence grew thick with all our unspoken words, all our complicated history. When I finally straightened and turned to face him, his eyes held none of their earlier rage - just a familiar weariness I'm sure mirrored my own.
Without looking at him, I grabbed tissues from the coffee table, cleaning myself up. My hands trembled slightly, whether from the intensity of what we'd just done or what I knew I had to say, I wasn't sure.
" So this is really the last time?" His voice was quieter now, almost contemplative.
I turned to face him, watching as he tucked his shirt back in. "It has to be."
"Because of him?"
"Because of us, Adrian." I sighed, running a hand through my tangled hair. "We can't keep doing this - fucking when we're angry, avoiding each other when we're not. The company needs us focused."
He studied me for a long moment. "And Daniel?"
"Is not why I'm ending this." I met his gaze steadily. "But yes, I want to try something different. Something that doesn't start and end in hotel rooms and office corners."
His jaw tightened, but something in his eyes softened. "You deserve that," he admitted reluctantly. "But Anna... we were good together."
"We were explosive together," I corrected. "That's different."
He nodded slowly, reaching for his jacket. "I should go."
"Adrian..." I hesitated. "Tomorrow-"
"Will be business as usual," he finished. "I can be professional if you can."
"Always have been. Between 9 and 5 at least." The ghost of a smile touched my lips.
He returned it, barely. "Good night, Ms. Rose."
"Good night, Mr. Salvatore."
After the door closed behind him, I pressed my forehead against the cool wood.
Tomorrow we'd go back to being CEO and assistant, pretending this night never happened. But my skin still tingled where he'd touched me, and somewhere deep down, I wondered if "last time" was just a lie we'd perfected telling ourselves.
