Chapter 150: Law for Mr. Damon

The heavy oak door of the master bedroom clicked shut. Damon stood near the entrance, taking a slow, cautious breath. He looked at his wife, who was standing beside the bed with her arms tightly crossed over her chest. Shireen had already changed into her silk nightgown, but the blazing fire in her eyes was far more intimidating than the elegant aura she carried on stage earlier.

"Are you still angry, sweetheart?" Damon asked softly, taking a careful step forward.

Shireen glared at him, her beautiful eyes narrowing into sharp slits. "Do you even need to ask? Why did you give your jacket to that woman?"

Damon sighed, rubbing the back of his neck in frustration. He walked closer, trying to reach for his wife's hands, but Shireen immediately took a step back, refusing his touch.

"It was a pure accident, Shireen," Damon explained, his tone laced with genuine helplessness. "I bumped into her, and my champagne spilled all over the front of her dress. The fabric became completely see-through. Giving her my jacket was just a spontaneous reaction so she wouldn't be exposed in the middle of the banquet hall."

Shireen’s eyebrows shot up. Her lips parted in sheer disbelief. "Spontaneous?"

Before Damon could process what was happening, Shireen closed the distance between them. Her delicate hand shot up, and her thumb and index finger clamped firmly onto Damon’s right ear. With zero hesitation, she twisted and pulled it hard.

"Ouch! Honey, wait, wait!" Damon hissed, instantly leaning his tall, muscular frame downward to follow the pull of her hand so his ear would not be ripped off.

"Oh, so the great Damon Lexton has spontaneous reflexes now?" Shireen interrogated, tightening her pinch. "The cold, cruel billionaire who would not even blink if someone bled out in front of him suddenly acts like a chivalrous gentleman to another woman?"

"Sweetheart, it hurts. Please let go," Damon pleaded, his face contorting in a mixture of pain and disbelief. The most feared mafia boss in the underground world was currently tiptoeing, bowing his head in submission to a woman half his size.

"You let another woman wear your clothes, Damon!" Shireen scolded, though a tiny fraction of her anger had dissolved seeing her incredibly powerful husband looking so helpless. "Do you know how embarrassing it was for me to see my husband acting like a hero for someone else?"

"I am sorry! I was wrong, okay? It was just a reflex, it will never happen again!" Damon surrendered completely, raising both his hands in the air. "I will buy a hundred new jackets tomorrow. I am sorry, my love."

Shireen finally released his red, throbbing ear. She huffed, turning her face away to hide the tiny, victorious smirk threatening to break through her anger. She had practically forgiven him, knowing he was just being decent, but she was still annoyed about the situation—and especially about the sapphire necklace that she chose not to bring up tonight.

"Do not think a simple apology gets you off the hook," Shireen declared, resting her hands on her hips. She then turned her head toward the slightly open door. "El!"

A small shadow flinched behind the doorframe. The door creaked open, and El slowly peeked his head inside. His chubby face was scrunched up into a massive pout, knowing he had been caught eavesdropping.

"Yes, Mommy?" El answered, shuffling into the room while looking at his toes.

"You," Shireen pointed at her son, then shifted her finger to her husband. "And you. Both of you are punished."

Damon rubbed his red ear, looking at his wife in confusion. "What did I do now?"

"El shouted and lied about you hurting him, causing a scene. And you caused a scene at the party," Shireen stated firmly. She walked over to the corner of the room, picked up a large box containing El's brand-new high-tech computer parts, and hugged it tightly. "This computer is confiscated. And both of you are banished from this room tonight. Go sleep outside."

Damon's jaw dropped. "Wait, you are kicking me out of my own bedroom?"

"Go sleep in El's room!" Shireen commanded, pointing at the hallway. "Out!"

El groaned loudly, stomping his little foot on the carpet. He looked up at the ceiling in pure despair. "If Grandma and Grandpa were still here, they would definitely defend me! They would never let Mommy take my computer away!"

"Well, they went back to their own mansion, so nobody is going to save you," Shireen replied flatly, crossing her arms again.

El turned his furious glare toward his towering father. The little boy puffed out his cheeks, his grey eyes flashing with childish rage.

"This is all because of you, old man! Huft!" El grumbled angrily.

Without any warning, El lifted his right foot and stomped hard right on top of Damon's leather shoe.

"Ugh!" Damon grunted, lifting his foot in sudden pain as El immediately spun around and marched out of the master bedroom, his tiny fists clenched at his sides.

Damon looked at his wife pleadingly. "Sweetheart, you are not seriously making me sleep in a toddler's bed, are you?"

"Goodnight, Mr. Lexton," Shireen smiled sweetly, stepping forward and shutting the heavy door right in his face.

Click. The sound of the lock turning echoed in the quiet hallway. Damon stood in front of the closed door, letting out a long, defeated sigh. He dragged his feet down the corridor, heading toward his son's bedroom to serve his ridiculous punishment.

The next morning, the bright sunlight filtered through the massive windows of the dining room.

Shireen was already sitting elegantly at the head of the dining table. She looked flawless in a simple beige silk blouse, sipping her morning tea while reading a fashion magazine. Her mood had significantly improved after a peaceful, uninterrupted night of sleep.

A few moments later, the sound of footsteps echoed from the staircase. Damon walked down, followed closely by a very grumpy El, who was dragging his school backpack. Damon was rubbing his stiff neck, looking exhausted from having to squeeze his muscular frame onto a child-sized mattress all night.

Safia, one of the junior maids, was busy arranging the breakfast plates on the table. She paused her movements when she saw Damon emerging from the direction of El's bedroom instead of the master suite.

Safia's eyes darted between Shireen, who was calmly reading, and Damon, who looked incredibly stiff.

Are they fighting again? Safia thought to herself, a wicked, secret smile creeping onto her lips as she arranged the silverware. He even slept in the kid's room. Good. I hope things get worse and they get a divorce soon. A man as perfect as Mr. Damon does not deserve a stuck-up woman like her.

"Ahem."

A sharp, cold clearing of a throat shattered Safia's inner delusions.

Safia jolted in surprise. She looked up and found Shireen staring right at her. Shireen had lowered her magazine, her beautiful eyes piercing through the maid with a terrifying, absolute dominance.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Shireen asked, her tone chillingly calm but laced with a lethal warning. "Are you planning to seduce my husband while he is having a stiff neck?"

Safia's face instantly drained of color. Her hands trembled so violently that the spoon she was holding clattered against the porcelain plate.

"N-No, Madam! Absolutely not!" Safia stammered, bowing her head in sheer panic. Her heart hammered wildly against her ribs. "I... I was just remembering a short drama I watched on my phone last night. I am very sorry, Madam!"

Shireen kept her piercing gaze on the maid for a few agonizing seconds, making Safia sweat profusely under her collar.

"Then keep your imagination to yourself while you are working in my house," Shireen ordered coldly, dismissing the maid's excuse entirely. "Go upstairs and prepare El's school uniform right now."

"Yes, Madam! Right away!" Safia squeaked, practically running out of the dining room to escape the suffocating aura of the lady of the house.

Damon, who had just entered the dining room, watched the maid flee in terror. He chuckled softly, completely unfazed by his wife's morning tyranny. He walked up to Shireen, leaned down, and pressed a deep, lingering kiss to her forehead.

"Good morning, my fierce queen," Damon murmured against her skin. "Are you still going to banish me tonight?"

"Depends on your behavior today," Shireen replied, though a genuine smile finally graced her lips.

El climbed onto his chair with a heavy huff, completely ignoring his parents' affection. "My back hurts. I am never sharing my bed with a giant ever again."

Damon laughed, taking a seat beside his wife. The tension from the previous night had completely melted away, replaced by the warm, chaotic dynamic of their little family.

However, just as Damon picked up his coffee cup, the dining room doors opened. Leo walked in with brisk, purposeful strides. The tall bodyguard's face was completely devoid of its usual calm demeanor; his jaw was tightly clenched, and his eyes held a heavy, dark seriousness.

Damon's hand halted in mid-air. He placed his coffee cup back onto the saucer. "What is it, Leo?"

Leo stopped a few feet away from the table, giving a brief, respectful nod to Shireen before looking directly at Damon.

"I apologize for interrupting your breakfast, Mr. Lexton, Madam," Leo spoke, his voice incredibly rigid. "But Doctor Hans just contacted me on the secure line."

The light atmosphere in the dining room vanished instantly. The mention of the doctor's name was like a bucket of ice water crashing down on Shireen's head. Her hand instinctively flew to her stomach, her heart dropping to her feet.

"What did he say?" Damon demanded, his tone turning instantly cold and authoritative.

"Doctor Hans requests that you and Madam Shireen come to the hospital immediately," Leo reported, his eyes glancing worriedly at Shireen's pale face. "He said he has found a new development regarding the mutation in the fetus, and it is something you both need to see right now."
