Chapter 24

All Rosalia had was a glimpse of her father’s back as she watched him get into the elevator. She had been more than lucky that he had not seen her. She breathed out in relief when the elevator doors closed before coming out of her hiding.

“Why are you standing behind the door?”

Sean’s voice startled her as she jumped straight into his arms in a bid to come out of her hiding place. She couldn’t let Sean know that the man he had been meeting with was her father. If it was a regular occurrence she would have to stop working, there or completely move out of the area.

“I was just coming in to see you” She said, as she adjusted her clothes to look more presentable after her fright.

“After your fun day?” Sean asked, a brow raised in anticipation of her answer.

“I was putting materials together for the presentation you asked me to do” She answered sternly, not being able to meet his gaze.

“Ohh… I see” He said then pushed his hands into his pockets. “And where is he?”

“Who?” Rosalia asked, confused for a moment on who he was talking about.

“Your supposed partner of course” He said with a tight smile. “He should pick his transfer letter up first thing tomorrow morning from the front desk.”

“What?” She asked, several emotions crossing her face. “Transfer to where?”

“That is for him to find out” He whistled before putting space between them. “Let’s get you home.”

Rosalia followed him unsure of what to do “Is he going to lose his job for helping me?” she asked as they stepped into the elevator.

“He’s not going to; I’m just transferring him to another branch where he can learn to keep his hands off another man’s property.”

“What property are you even talking about? We only walked around the neighborhood. He didn’t have anything to do with another’s property. He brought me straight here when we were done.”

Sean turned to look at her. He could tell she was innocent all over, not being able to realize what he was trying to say. He watched her talk on and on, unable to get a word she was saying into his ears.

“Are you even listening?” Rosalia shouted when he kept looking at her without a word. She was about to say something else when his mouth out her words. She closed her eyes involuntarily as a moan escaped her lips causing a tremble between them.

Sean wrapped his arms tightly around her, not wanting to let go just yet. He dipped her neck to the side so he could have better access to her lips. He sucked on the lower lip, pulling the plum flesh into his mouth, and sighed happily at how soft it was. He wanted more.

“Sorry to interrupt but we have to get home” Someone said, startling the both of them as they stepped away from each other.

Sean glared at Rege when his face came into view. It was then they realized they were downstairs, and the elevator doors were already open. He had completely forgotten about Rege.

“What are you doing here?” Sean asked as he placed his palm on Rosalia’s back, turning her to where his car was parked.

“I was waiting for you so we could go home together” Rege answered, scratching the back of his head awkwardly.

Sean stopped in his tracks “Wait, what?”

“I don’t have a place to crash, and you know how I feel about hotels” Rege said.

“I don’t care how you feel about hotels, you’re not crashing at my place.”

Rosalia who had been quiet all these while finally spoke “I’ve seen you somewhere” She said pointing at Rege, “You’re the guy from the club!”

“I’m honored you remembered me…Mademoiselle” He said, taking a little bow in front of her. “May I?” He asked and held her right hand. Rosalia gave a short nod and watched him press a kiss to the back of her hand.

“Can we go home now?” Sean asked, as he snatched Rosalia’s hand away from him.

“Sure” Rege said, smiling slyly.

“I wasn’t talking to you” Sean told him as he walked Rosalia to the car. He didn’t particularly hate Rege, but he would rather not be in the same room with him.

“Can’t he come with us?” Rosalia asked softly in a tone that Sean could never say no to.

Sean glared at Rege who was trying to hide the big smile on his face because he knew Sean couldn’t tell him no now, not when Rosalia had asked.

“One week” Sean told him coldly before getting in the car. Rege got in on time before Sean could drive off. Rosalia who noticed the tension between the two men lightly placed her palm on Sean’s hand that was on the steering in a bid to calm him down.

“What would you like for dinner?” Sean asked her, trying to divert his thoughts from stopping the car and punching Rege square in the face, it would give him a very much needed satisfaction.

“Anything you’re having” She answered quietly, not wanting to set him off.

“Mac and Cheese for me, you know that’s my favorite” Rege chipped in from the back, as if he wasn’t already getting on Sean’s bad side.

“I don’t care what you eat, you can starve for all I care” Sean retorted before his eyes back on the road.

“Let’s just have Mac and Cheese then” Rosalia concord. “I don’t know how to cook it though” She said, bowing her head slowly in shame.

“It’s fine, baby boy in front will make us something to eat. Trust me, I would have but my cooking skills suck. I never had the need to cook because I’m hot, so the girls take care of me” Rege said, buffing out his chest which made Rosalia laugh out loud.

“You’re so funny” She said in between laughter “But you better watch it” She whispered, “He looks like he wants to murder you” She pointed at Sean subtly, but he still saw her.

Rege brushed his index finger across his lips “I’m not talking anymore” Rosalia laughed at that and put her attention back to the road they were breezing by.

Sean ignored them both, but he was happy Rosalia was laughing again, the childish air around her visible again. After their eventful day he was scared that she would go back into his shell. Even if he wasn’t the man making her laugh, she was cheerful all the same.

The large gates of his house opened as he pulled into the driveway, tiny bulbs on the pavement lighting up his path. He killed the engine once the car was parked and went to open the door for Rosalia, but Rege already beat him to it. His hate for Rege was beginning to grow pass a healthy point.

They both followed Sean as he walked up the stairs to his home and let them all in. Rosalia stood at the foot of the stairs unsure of what to do.

“I’ll show you to the guest room” Sean told Rege, who had been standing in the center of the room awkwardly. He followed Sean upstairs past a lot of rooms before opening the door to the one at the end of the hallway.

“Here” He walked further into the room with Rege in tow. “Everything you’ll need is in the closet. You didn’t pack any clothes, did you?”

Rege stood scratching the back of his head “No, flew here first thing once the board approved.”

“You can borrow some of my clothes for the night, you better get something else by tomorrow.”

“I will do just that.”

Sean gave him a brief nod before making for the door.

“Thank you” Rege said, pushing his hands into his pocket. Sean nodded in understanding before leaving standing in the room that was only filled with the basic necessities.

Rege fell onto the bed once he closed the door. He took a few deep breaths, now that he was lying down, he could feel the tiredness weighing down on him. Closing his eyes, he began to drift asleep but not before hearing the ding of his phone signaling a message from Anna.

“You’re quiet” Sean mused when he entered the room and saw Rosalia seated on the edge of the bed. He walked slowly to her, watching her watch him as he got closer. She said nothing as he stood in front of her at close proximity.

He traced her left cheek before stopping just below her jaw, her face heated under his feather light touch.

“I’m sorry about today” he said, tilting her face so she was looking him directly in the eye now. “I didn’t mean to lose my temper like that” He whispered. Sean wasn’t one to ever admit that he was wrong or apologize even. It was all Rosalia, he was a different person when he was around her. He couldn’t tell if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

“Were you going to kiss me at the office?” Rosalia asked instead, lowering her gaze. She wanted to be sure the chemistry between them that she had felt was not just her imagination. That in the office that morning, he thought about claiming her.

“That’s what you’re worried about?” He asked, puzzled. She nodded, unable to put her answer into words.

“Yes” he finally answered “I wanted to kiss you” he said, hot air brushing her ear as he whispered to her “All the things I wanted to do to you Rosalia, all the things I could’ve done…”

“Then do them” Rosalia said, pronouncing each word with a determined emphasis. She was done holding back from him. She had a lot of questions she wanted to ask him, first why he had been angry with Max, down to how he knew the guy from the club and how he felt about her.

Sean looked at her, the dim light of the room bouncing off her face. He dipped his head and claimed her warm mouth. No one tasted quite like her and that drew him to the gates of hell.

Rosalia clutched the back of his head like her life depended on it, letting him explore the depths of her mouth with his warm tongue. She moaned as he pushed her gently onto the bed.

Sean broke the kiss “I’m sorry” he said, slipping his fingers between her hair. Rosalia knew he meant what he said. But she also knew that this man was beginning to hold her captive, and she liked every bit of it.
