Chapter 40: PORTION 39

We walked to his car, and just got here. I faced my palm when I realized that I was waiting for Petot before a crisis happened. So, I immediately checked my phone and saw her texts.

“Where were you, Sam? anak ka ng tokwa, iniwan niyo ‘ko,” I said, reading the text that she sent which caused me to laugh, “e, di ‘wag ka mag-reply, basta ‘wag ka na rin uuwing Samantha ka ah!”

I can’t stop laughing because of what I read, and Kurt was the same but right after a single laugh, he looked at me without doing anything and just starting. So, I asked him.

“Ano?”

But he just shook his head and tapped his car key. He next opened the door of the front seat so I just sat down without asking. And he drove me to my dorm without talking to me, probably letting me rest because of what happened. When we reached our destination, he opened the car door for me, so I got off.

“Get inside,” he said.

I smiled at him, and nodded, “Thank you so much, Kurt.”

He just gave me a nod before he went inside the car again and waved.

“Good night, Sam.”

The last sentence he said before he drove away.

I just went upstairs and knocked on the door as soon as I reached our room.

"Buti umuwi ka—” When Petot opened the door, I immediately hugged her, the reason why the thing she was trying to say was cut off.

I burst into tears, "Ang sama-sama ko!"

“Deserve mo ‘yan, bungul ka eh!”

I unhugged her, “G•gu ka ba? Talaga ba, Petot?”

“Deserve!”

I gave her an expressionless face, saying I'm not joking or playing around with her right now. But she smiled and after a few seconds she took it off.

"Oh, 'di ba? Instant karma?” Scolding me, while hugging me, “I told you. If you don't want to get hurt, then don't hurt (someone else). Ikaw kasi, eh! Ano ba kasi pumasok sa riyan sa kokote mo, ba’t naisip mo yun?"

Flashback...

(Before the date of Jaybi and Faye.)

"Sam." Out of nowhere, someone back-hugged me.

I turned my head around and saw Faye. I put my hand on her top of head because I could still reach it since she is small.

"I'm sorry," she added.

Suddenly everything flashbacks to me, how good friends we are to each other.

I sighed in disbelief, “No, Faye. Sorry.”

"No, I'm sorry. Sam, I just can't accept it, that's why I started to ignore you," she explained.

We all know that Faye likes Jaybi, but he likes me.

"Why, why do you have to leave me just for a man?" I asked her without looking at her because we still didn't part our body from each other.

I just miss this hug.

"Because I like him, but he likes you. But before you met him, I was there first. Before he fell in love with you, I fell in love with him first. Yung unang pagkikita niyo ay ang dahilan ng huling pagkikita namin." And she started to sniff, as if she's starting to cry.

I tried my very best to turn around and gave her a hug that she deserves. And after a few minutes, I both touched her shoulders, I faced her, and looked her in the eyes.

"Bakit nga?" I asked, repeating my question.

"Naiinggit lang ako,"

I frowned, "Saan?"

"Naiinggit lang ako na sana ako na lang yung nagbibigay saya sa kanya." Without looking at me, but I felt that she's really serious about it, na inggit na inggit talaga siya.

I sighed. Thinking of something that may get rid of the jealousy that she has. Since Jaybi and I don't have anything to do with each other na, because I'm already Kurt's fiance. Maybe it's time for me to do something, yung tipong makakalimutan ako ni Jaybi kahit saglit lang.

"Then, do you want to spend a day with him? If you really want to do that," I offered.

She looked at me, shaking her head, "No. Hindi naman siya papayag."

"Gagawa tayo ng paraan."

She grabbed my shirt, "Sam, ayaw ko siyang pilitin. Kung sasaya siya ng pilit, mas mabuting 'wag na lang."

I laughed at her.

"Faye, I could literally ask him to do that for me. Ano ba ang tingin mo sa akin, ah?"

"Pero—"

"No," I said, and put my index finger on her mouth, and shook my head, "Tsk, tsk! You can't say no."

End of Flashback...

She assisted me on the way and let me sit down on the bed.

"I see, but does it work? Sabihin na natin masaya si Faye, e' si Jaybi? Just like you, Sam, being with someone you don't love, naging masaya ka ba?" she's asking me and at the same time, explaining everything to me.

I shook my head.

"Exactly!" And she stood up from the bed, started walking back and forth, "We both know that Jaybi loves you, e 'di syempre hindi rin 'yon masaya!"

"Eh, anong gagawin ko?"

She suddenly stopped and looked at me, seriously, "Maraming paraan, Sam!"

"At yun yung nakita ko na paraan para kahit papaano ay makalimutan ako ni Jaybi, at maging masaya si Faye," I said, without looking at her.

"Then answer me, nangyari ba?"

I shook my head.

"I really don't know what to do," I said while rubbing my head.

She then next bent down and sat on the ground, she held my hands and took it away from my head and suddenly asked me, "Look at me. Look into my eyes, Sam."

And without saying, I looked at it.

"Have you ever asked me why I suggested that you should go out with Jaybi though we both knew that you're not even interested?" She changed the topic.

Nakakunot noo ako, "So, why?"

"Because of your Lola. At first, I didn't know why but then I realized. Jaybi is the only one I can trust when it comes to you."

I frowned even more, processing what she had said.

So the reason why she planned the confession is because Lola asked her? Maybe Lola did that because she doesn't want me to be alone, because she has an illness.

"So if I were you, Sam. I'd rather spend most of my time with those people who are important to me, I'd rather do that than hurting them. Just like what my Kuya requested of you, spend more time on me, and on us," she continued.

Nagulat ako sa sinabi niya nung pahuli, "How did you know?"

"Yes, Kuya said everything to me. . . . because he said, I have right to know. Kaya nung sinabi mo sa 'kin, 'di na ako nagulat. Pero 'wag kang mag-alala, hindi ko sasabihin kay Jaybi." And smiled at me so widely.

I hugged her, "I'm sorry."

"Sam, it's okay. Nagkamali ako noon, tinanggap mo pa rin ako kahit sobrang mali nung ginawa ko. Sam, you understood me because you said I'm your bestest friend. And right now, I'll do the same. You're my bestest friend and as your friend, hanggat kaya kong tulungan kang itama ang mali, gagawin ko."

I went down on the ground, hugged her so tight and kept nodding, and started sniffing to cry too, "Yes, makikinig ako."

"Umiiyak ka na naman?" she asked.

I just nodded shyly, which caused her to laugh.

I pushed her away, "Umiiyak na nga yung tao, tumatawa ka pa?"

"Kasalanan ko bang natawa ako?" she asked, raised her eyebrows and put her one hand on her waist.

"Ay, ganun?" And I raised my one eyebrows, "So, kasalanan ko?"

"Oo, ang pangit mo umiyak eh."

"Talaga ba, Petot?"

She started laughing, "Joke lang!"

"Ang pangit ng joke mo!"

"E 'di don't. Siya na nga pinangingiti eh, nagma-mabuting loob na nga yung tao eh Apaka nito!"

"Ay, mabuting loob pala yun?" I asked her, sarcastically, "Ang alam ko ako yung dire-diretso ang bunganga sa ating dalawa."

She raised her hands and swayed smoothly in the air as if it was sliding on something, "Dumulas, eh."

"Paano ang dulas?" I asked, while trying to hide my laugh.

"Ey, naman! `Di ako uto-uto."

"Eh, ano? t•nga lang?"

She frowned, "Anong t•nga?"

"T•nga sa pag-ibig."

"Huy, 'di kaya!" she said, "Nahiya naman ako sa 'yo, 'no?"

"Mahiya ka talaga!"

"Ay, wow? Talaga ba?"

And we suddenly stopped talking, just looking at us for a few seconds, and just started laughing without any reason.

"If you don't know what to do. Let's start with you," she changed the topic.

Nag-flashback bigla sa akin ang lahat, on how we met. I smiled at her, I picked up my phone and looked for the earphones in my bag. And after finding one, I looked at her and asked.

"Can we do this again?"

She nodded.

This is where we started, with these three things; earphones, phone and Parokya ni Edgar's song.

Flashback...

Grade 7 days...

Wala kaming ginagawa ngayon, because the school year is about to end and during these hours, our teacher always allowed us to use our phones.

I just got my phone and now I'm looking for earphones in the bag.

"Faye, nakita mo ba yung earphones ko? I kept looking in my bag, but I couldn't find it," I said to her but she's not answering me.

I looked at her, and saw that she was sleeping.

"Ano nga bang aasahan ko na sagot kung natutulog ang tao? Tsk, tsk!" I said to myself.

"Naiwan ko cellphone ko, baka gusto mo hiramin ang earphones ko? Ito oh!" Out of nowhere, a girl approached me and let me borrow her earphones.

Binuksan ko yung phone ko at pinakita sa kanya ang playlist ko, "Parokya ni Edgar?" asking her if she wants it too.

"Huy, hala! Bet mo rin sila? Tara!" while smiling.

I didn't expect it but I'm so happy because of what she had said.
