Chapter 171: No More Fear
Lex's POV
"I am not going to stand here and watch you disrespect me again, Lex. I need you to apologize to Selena and make sure you fix this problem that you seem to be so good at causing every single time, and that is why I invited you here. You know if it were on a different ground, I wouldn't be taking it lightly with you, but for some reason I think you're old enough to have a proper conversation and do the right thing, so I am giving you the free will right now to go out there and fix what you've messed up."
"That is so great of you, Father. I mean, I never expected you to be rational in your thinking and also so mature. I still am very offended that Selena is still playing you, her little puppet, but for some reason you seem to have begun to see things for what they are, and Father, you can no longer control me. Hence, I'm saying I'm going to tell you this and let you know the things you should be expecting of me and the things that you should not even think about because I will never do that," I said to him, and I saw the way he narrowed his eyebrows quickly, and the excitement in me sparked a bit.
"Lex, I don't know why you think you've grown so much, but I am only giving you the grace and the privilege that you do have as a Lexter; else you would have been in a very serious situation right now where I would be correcting your senses and letting you know that you cannot grow above me."
"Well, I have a father, and I'm going to grow more and more above you because I have common sense that makes me see when I am being played and when things are going right, and right now the two people playing my life on different angles are you and Selena, and I am not going to let that continue to happen. Hence, I am telling you right to your face that the mating ceremony you want to hold is not going to happen, not when I am still alive," I said to him, my two hands folded around my chest as I stared at him face-to-face, waiting for what his reaction was going to be.
"I see now that you've grown wings, Lexwe; you truly have grown wings, and the rumors I have been hearing are not just rumors but facts that you think you can really outsmart me in this. I already warned you not to let me bring that girl who seems to be giving you all the morals into this because she's not going to survive a minute with me."
"Stop being a weakling, Father6, and stop threatening me with Lisa because if you truly have the power that you claim you have, you wouldn't even think about bringing her into this; you would fight me directly, and the fact that you threaten her instead of me shows how powerless you are, and that is the same form Selena is following too. She's going to have all the backing from you, or is it the other way around?" I asked him, moving closer to him right now as the thought of things Lisa said to me about how Selena could really have her own agenda and was only using my father suddenly clicked, making me even more furious at him.
"I don't think I understand what you are talking about right now, Lex. I'm not going to have you play games with me. What do you mean, 'if it was the other way around'? Are you trying to say right now that Selena has me in her arms and she's controlling me?"
"It sure seems like it, Father, and I don't understand how you're not seeing things for what they are. I have noticed this a number of times: how you come running in whenever she calls, and now you believe everything she says without thinking about the possibility of them being true, and that's the typical move of someone being controlled, and Selena seems to have you in that book."
An awkward silence suddenly enveloped us as he stood staring at me, and I could almost hear the sound of his breathing, and just like a flash, he took a vase and threw it at me, but swiftly I dodged it, making it hit the wall behind me, cascading to the ground.
"Of course I expected you were going to do that; the truth is always painful, Father, and this is the truth that I am telling you about what Selena might be doing, but instead of you facing the truth, you choose your default setting of using your fist to fix your problem," I said to him, stepping back as I spoke, knowing very well that the line had been drawn and it was already aggressive.
"How dare you, Lex? How dare you stand before me and insult me, telling me that a little child has control over me? Do you know exactly what that was supposed to mean?" He asked me, taking slow steps towards me, but I was not moved by that at all.
"You know what, Father? I am actually done here, and in case you do not know what my specific response to your request is, it is that I am not going to apologize to Selena, not ever in my lifetime, and I am going to make you see that I am not going to be controlled by you for the rest of my life. I don't care what you do; I don't care who you go after. I'll protect what I love, which is something that you cannot seem to know how to do at all, as you tend to give an open ground for anyone to attack the people who you claim are your family. Can't you see it, Father? Can't you see that you're alone?"
