Chapter 161 How?

Chapter 161 How?

Desmond held himself back from blurting out the words, “You saved my life. And now it's yours.” that would definitely scare her.

“If you hadn't moved, I would have been—”

Kalyssa raised her finger and pressed it against his lips before he could finish his statement. His eyes stared at him with such intensity that he swallowed.

“Don't say it,” she said. She couldn't comprehend it even if he was safe now. She didn't even want to think of what would have happened if she had delayed a second longer.

Desmond smiled. He raised his hand and took hers from his mouth. Before taking it away, he pressed it on his lips for a kiss.

“I won't be taken down so easily.” his eyes narrowed as he added. “I can't let another man have you.”

Kalyssa's mouth fell open at his strong proclamation. Desmond found her look adorable. He moved behind her, opened the door, and led her in.

Inside the house felt normal and silent. Kalyssa didn't know what else she expected when she opened the door after everything that happened today.

Kalyssa looked around, her eyes went to the window. Half expecting a bullet to blast through. Desmond watched her carefully.

“You should rest,” he said quietly.

She blinked finally looking away from the window then nodded, but she didn’t move.

Instead, she turned to him. For a moment she just stared at him to make sure he was okay. Then she made a move. She didn't think about anything else. She drew close to him, stood on her tiptoes, and wrapped both arms around his neck. She lay her head on his strong chest, listening to his steady and strong heartbeat. She smiled when it quickened slightly.

“You’re really okay?” she whispered.

“Yes.” Desmond was not tired of answering the same question. Instead, he felt cared for….Dare he say loved by her?

He wrapped his hands around her small waist. Enjoying the way her large soft chest squished against his hard ones.

His hands around her waist tightened. The only thing separating them was the fabric. Kalyssa could feel his bodily heat. She could feel the outline of all the muscles.

She wanted him. Yes. Sexually. She wanted him to help her take her mind off everything.

Kalyssa didn't think twice. She wasn't some virgin little girl. She wasn't shy when she wanted something badly.

She wanted him.

“Don’t go yet,” she muttered.

And so she took. Pulling him by the collar. Her eager lips claimed his as soon as he was within reach. It was Desmond’s turn to be stunned silly.

He stared at her wide-eyed. He didn't know what caused her to be so bold but he liked it, he wanted her to be this bold all the time.

He closed his eyes and savored the kiss. They fought for dominance until Kalyssa gave up. She met him kiss her. His tongue explores all the corners of her lips. He could taste a hint of the wine she had earlier.

He pulled back slightly, biting her lip and pulling lightly. Kalyssa groaned. Her hands moved to undo some buttons.

Desmond suddenly pulled back and held her hands. Kalyssa blinked up at him in confusion.

Did he like it?

“No. Don't look at me like that. I love y—I mean I loved it. But not now. I—I have some things to take care of.” Desmond stumbled for words. It was hard for him to pull away from her but there where somethings he had to do first.

Kalyssa sighed and pulled away. She didn't seem to hear what he had almost said. Her eyes carried a hint of displeasure but she knew there were things he had to do.

“Okay.” she turned to head up the stairs but he held her hand.

“I’ll be back. Call me if anything feels off,” he said. He had an apologetic smile. He really wished he could stay. The bulge between his legs was a testament but he couldn't.

“I will.”

He stared at her longer. Then he nodded. But just before he stepped out of the door…

She spoke again.

“Desmond.”

He looked back.

She hesitated. “Be careful.”

Desmond didn't go home, nor did he stop by the office or police station. He received a ding on his phone. On the screen was an address. Desmond turned his phone off and drove straight to that address.

Normally he wouldn't do this but today was an exception.

He stopped in front of an unremarkable small bungalow. He looked around and noted that it was a very quiet neighborhood.

He walked to the front door and knocked. It took a few seconds before Andrew opened the door himself.

Andrew had already seen Desmond the moment he stepped on his porch.

“How did you—”

The question didn’t finish.

Desmond’s fist had pulled back and connected with his face. So hard that a sickening sound was heard. Andrew stumbled back from impact,?hitting the floor with a dull thud.

Desmond was immediately surrounded by a lot of men with their guns raised.

Andrew let out a short breath, wiping the blood from his lip with the back of his hand.

“Well somebody is in a bad mood,” a faint smirk tugging at his mouth.

Desmond stepped inside the house calmly, closing the door behind him. The men were blocked out. He removed his jacket, tossing it aside without looking at where it landed.

He rolled his shoulders and twisted his neck. His eyes never left Andrews' form.

The door opened and Andrew’s men rushed in. Desmond didn’t even glance at them.

Andrew pushed himself to his feet slowly, his eyes fixed on Desmond.

“You found me, but what did I do to deserve this?” he asked feigning innocence.

Desmond clicked his tongue lightly. “You think your little prank would scare me?”

“So you know,” Andrew didn't sound surprised.

Desmond didn’t answer.

Andrew tilted his head slightly. “Then why are you here? To settle scores? Don't tell me you are just here to beat me up?”

Desmond paused. He shoved his hands into his pockets and smirked.

“I actually have to thank you,” he said.

Andrew frowned, he clearly wasn't expecting that.

“What?”

Desmond let out a quiet laugh. “You should have seen the look on her face when she held me back.”

Andrew’s samiek faded. The space between his brows sank.

“I know you have changed targets but Kalyssa is my woman. You taking me out of the picture doesn’t guarantee anything,” Desmond added calmly.

Andrew’s hands clenched into fists. Desmond had seen through him again.

“End whatever you’re doing, or you’ll face the consequences,” Desmond said finally.

Andrew let out a low laugh. “Do you think you’re better than me?”

Desmond shrugged slightly. “Maybe not, but I know I have what you desire.”

Then he turned and walked away. Yes, he just came to say that.

“Don’t be too cocky! The mind of a human is ever changing!”Andrew called after him, his voice sharper now.

Desmond didn’t stop.
