Chapter 206: Divine Consequences
Serena's transformed form is looking at Morgana as if her divine ears cannot believe everything that has just been revealed to her. The magnitude of the situation seems to be sinking in with devastating clarity, and her expression grows darker with each passing moment.
"And when all this catastrophic chaos was happening, where the hell were you?" she asks with intense scrutiny, her voice carrying the weight of divine authority and barely contained fury.
Morgana's trembling resumes with such rapid intensity that one would think she is literally about to collapse and break into a million tiny pieces right there on the laboratory floor. She lets out another nervous chuckle and begins scratching at her neck compulsively, a gesture that betrays the depth of her anxiety and fear.
"I was on a personal, sacred duty," Morgana explains with obvious reluctance, her voice wavering with uncertainty. "I was trying to ensure that the vessel that would eventually possess your divine body was kept safe and protected, so that nothing in this mortal realm would ever be able to end your immortal existence."
Serena's divine form closes her eyes and exhales deeply, as if trying to contain the heavy amount of rage that is already building to dangerous levels deep within her supernatural consciousness. When she opens her eyes again, they blaze with otherworldly fury that makes the very air around them crackle with divine energy.
"Do you have any comprehension of the dangerous intensity and the catastrophic outcome of what you have done?" she demands, her voice rising to a volume that makes the laboratory equipment rattle on their shelves. "Do you understand that keeping me trapped in this mortal vessel and locking me up in this limited body has made me absolutely vulnerable in ways I have never experienced before?"
She begins pacing again, her movements sharp and agitated as she continues her furious tirade. "I am not as immortal as you foolishly think I am while I'm confined to this form! I can easily be killed by mortal means. I am severely limited in my capabilities. My eternal time has been brought under finite measurement, subject to the constraints of mortal existence. Why the hell did you have to make such a reckless decision without considering the consequences?"
Her voice sounds genuinely furious right now, carrying notes of betrayal and frustration that echo through the transformed space. Damon knows with absolute certainty that whatever the case may be, Morgana has committed some sort of serious transgression against this divine being.
In fact, Damon's mind can't even begin to properly process everything that is happening here right now. He feels utterly confused and overwhelmed by the supernatural drama unfolding before his eyes. He can't understand the full implications of what's being discussed, so he simply remains where he is hidden, observing both powerful figures with his supernatural mind racing through countless possibilities, desperately trying to figure out what the hell is actually going on right in front of him.
"I am so incredibly sorry for this situation," Morgana continues to apologize continuously, her voice becoming more desperate with each repetition. "I never intended for things to spiral out of control like this."
Serena closes her eyes once more and walks away from Morgana with obvious disgust, before heading directly toward Isabella's still-paralyzed form with purposeful strides.
"I seriously cannot deal with this incompetence right now," she says with cold determination, and without any warning, she pats Isabella's motionless body twice with what appears to be casual gestures.
Instantly, Isabella begins screaming at the top of her lungs as a strange sort of dark, writhing energy begins sizzling all around her paralyzed form. Something that looks like a malevolent dark shadow begins erupting violently from her mouth, and Serena calmly stretches out her hand, absorbing every single inch of the corrupted dark energy that flows seamlessly out of Isabella's throat until absolutely everything has been completely drained from her system.
The process is both fascinating and terrifying to witness, as the dark power seems to resist being extracted before finally surrendering to Serena's superior divine will. Once the extraction is complete, Isabella's body falls lifelessly to the ground like a discarded puppet, all the supernatural corruption that had been animating her finally removed.
Serena looks down at her own hand to observe a concentrated dark orb that resembles a sphere of pure shadow, now contained within her palm. She squints her eyelids and observes it intently, as if studying the very essence of the corruption that had been driving Isabella's actions.
"Here, take this immediately," she commands, extending the dark orb toward Morgana with authoritative precision. "Make absolutely sure you keep it secured in a much darker, more protected crypt than the one you used before, sealed and warded by magic that goes far beyond your current age and understanding. Do you comprehend the importance of what I'm telling you?"
Morgana instantly nods her head with brisk, eager movements, clearly understanding the gravity of the responsibility being placed upon her shoulders. "Yes, my divine mistress. I understand completely."
The moment that crucial task is delegated, Serena finally glances down at Isabella's unconscious body lying motionless on the ground. Isabella's skin is now covered with cold sweat, dripping from her as if she had just experienced the most intense supernatural purification ritual imaginable.
Serena exhales with what might be relief or continued frustration, then walks over to Isabella's limp form and lifts her up with supernatural ease, picking her up from the ground as though she weighs nothing more than a feather. She carries Isabella's unconscious body over to the laboratory table where Damon had been lying bound just minutes earlier, and gently places her there.
Serena then observes Isabella's now-peaceful face intently for several moments, as if checking to ensure that all traces of the dark corruption have been successfully removed. Satisfied with her work, she slowly turns around and glances at Morgana, who is now weaving powerful, complex spells designed to keep the Shadow Orb properly guarded and protected from any future interference.
With a simple snap of her divine fingers, the Shadow Orb completely disappears from view, transported to whatever secure location Morgana has prepared for its containment. Once this is accomplished, Morgana diverts her full focus and attention back to Serena, awaiting further instructions or guidance.
Serena looks at the ancient witch for a very brief moment and exhales deeply, before raking her fingers through her hair in obvious frustration and exhaustion.
"This entire situation is a very serious disaster, you know that, right?" she says with weary resignation, her divine voice carrying undertones of disappointment and continued anger.
Morgana nods her head instantly and emphatically. "I know, my lady, and I am absolutely, genuinely sorry for everything that has transpired. I should never have done this without your explicit permission. I wish there was some way to reverse everything and return things to how they were before."
"Well, there actually is a way to correct this situation," Serena says casually, immediately attracting Morgana's complete and undivided attention.
Morgana looks at her with intense curiosity and growing hope. "And what way could that possibly be, my mistress?"
Serena rolls her eyes with obvious exasperation and exhales heavily before strolling toward another section of the abandoned laboratory, her movements suggesting that she's preparing to deliver news that Morgana won't want to hear.
"It's not going to be easy at all, though," Serena continues with ominous warning in her voice. "In fact, it's literally going to take many years and years of dedicated accomplishment and tireless work to gather all the rare materials and components necessary to conduct this extremely complex ritual properly."
She pauses, allowing the weight of her words to sink in before continuing. "You see, you are literally going to be attempting to transcend a goddess from the realm of the living back into the spiritual realm where she belongs, and you should know exactly how incredibly difficult and dangerous that process is going to be. But it looks like you have absolutely no choice in this matter, because you are the one who created this mess, and therefore you must be the one to correct your monumental mistake."
