Chapter 27 Brag!

Skyler's lips were soft, carrying a hint of coolness.

With every breath, her breathing became somewhat rapid, emitting faint kitten-like sounds from the depths of her throat.

Arlo quickly regained his senses; he knew now was not the time for affection.

"Don't waste time, I'll take you out!"

But as soon as he said that, Ruben's figure appeared before them.

"Where do you want to take her?"

Ruben, with a face full of flesh, grinned and spat fiercely on the ground, his voice cold, "You dog-like thing, daring to ruin my good deeds time and time again! Today is your death date!"

Arlo's expression changed; he knew Ruben was truly intent on killing.

Glancing at the three bodyguards beside Ruben, and the slim man he had previously knocked down, Arlo estimated their skills were evenly matched.

If it were just these three bodyguards, Arlo felt he still had a chance to get Skyler out.

But seeing more and more thugs in the hall, Arlo understood that escaping would be nearly impossible.

Calmly, he pulled Skyler behind him, a sharp blade slipping into his hand from his sleeve.

Holding the blade, the cold touch gave Arlo some confidence.

Capture the ringleader first; once Ruben was subdued, the bodyguards would hesitate.

But approaching Ruben under the protection of these three bodyguards was undoubtedly a pipe dream.

Wait a minute!

Arlo had a sudden flash of inspiration; he had an idea.

"Mr. Wilson, if you want to kill me, did you ever ask my Boss?"

"Your Boss?"

Ruben's eyes became suspicious, furrowing his brow as he stared at Arlo, "Who is your Boss?"

Arlo calmly met Ruben's gaze, his tone tinged with mockery, "Naturally, it's Alex, Mr. Fox!"

"You're with Mr. Fox?!"

Ruben widened his eyes, refusing to believe it.

He had investigated Arlo; he was clearly just a poor kid working in Fleross.

Yet now Arlo claimed to be Alex's man?

"Mr. Wilson, if you don't believe it, you can call Mr. Fox, can't you?" Arlo's lips curled in disdain, continuing, "But I guess you don't have Mr. Fox's number, right? It's okay, you can call Mr. Fox's fiancée. I happen to be Mr. Fox's fiancée's little brother."

Ruben knew Nora, and knew she was Alex's fiancée.

He just didn't know that Alex and Nora had fallen out, nor did he know Arlo was gambling.

After a brief hesitation, Ruben took out his phone, found the number labeled "Ms. Marsh" in his contacts, and dialed it.

After the call connected, Ruben spoke in a flattering tone, "Ms. Marsh, I'm Ruben from Nexus Tech. Do you know someone named Arlo? No, nothing's wrong, why would anything be wrong? Arlo and I get along very well! Alright, you're busy, I won't disturb you."

Hanging up the phone, Ruben wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

When he looked back at Arlo, his attitude had changed.

"Arlo, why did you hide your affiliation? If you had said earlier that you were with Mr. Fox, we wouldn't have had to be at odds like this!"

Although Arlo maintained a calm demeanor, his back was already soaked with cold sweat.

Ruben's reaction confirmed to him that he had made the right bet this time.

"I didn't expect Mr. Wilson to want my life!" Arlo glanced at him, sneering, "Now can I take my girlfriend and leave?"

With that, he led Skyler towards the cabin door. Seeing Ruben still standing in the doorway, he raised an eyebrow, "What? Does Mr. Wilson still have something to say?"

Ruben chuckled awkwardly, making way for them to leave the cabin.

But just as Arlo and Skyler stepped onto the stairs, Ruben suddenly called out to them.

Skyler wanted to keep walking, but Arlo understood that any sign of guilt now would make Ruben suspicious.

Holding Skyler back forcibly, he turned around slowly, adopting a nonchalant demeanor as he looked down at Ruben, "What is it?"

In fact, Ruben had no intention of letting Arlo and Skyler leave; he was just momentarily flustered after learning Arlo was with Alex.

Now that he had calmed down, as a seasoned old fox, he naturally had ways to keep Arlo.

Seeing Arlo's seemingly fearless appearance, Ruben's eyes flickered, "Well, Arlo, I've thought it over. I was wrong to scare you and your girl this time."

Ruben rubbed his hands together, continuing, "So, tonight I'll treat you two to gamble on the ship. If you win, Arlo, you take the money and leave. If you lose, consider it on me! How about that?"

After finishing speaking, Ruben looked at Arlo expectantly, but he kept laughing inwardly.

Although he was sure of Nora and Arlo's relationship, as an old fox, he had a heavy suspicion.

Moreover, he came this time to completely ally with Alex, because Skyler already had all the evidence against him.

It was precisely for this reason that he was so anxious to catch Skyler, and even to make sure of it, he used Skyler to deceive Arlo into coming as well.

The goal was to completely eliminate everyone who knew his guilt!

Only dead people could keep a secret!

So, now that Arlo wanted to take Skyler away, Ruben was determined to keep her here no matter what.

If Arlo was truly Alex's man, then he could simply give all his assets to Alex, and his life would be worry-free.

Thinking this, Ruben's smile became even more sinister.

Arlo didn't know Ruben's thoughts, but seeing this scumbag's lecherous smile, he instinctively became wary.

Acting overly friendly usually had ulterior motives!

This old fox definitely had something up his sleeve!

Could it be that Ruben sensed he was bluffing?

With the intention of leaving with Skyler directly, but surrounded by bodyguards and waiters, he could run away alone, but how could he run away with Skyler?

With his thoughts spinning, Arlo decided to play it by ear; he wanted to see what Ruben was up to!
