Chapter 12: Skyler's Initiative!

"I'm coming!" Arlo put down the lunch box in his hand and said to Lydia, "I have to go to work now, you should hurry back to school, it's not safe if it's too late."

After saying that, Arlo hurried out, following Kian to the table where the trouble was happening.

While rushing, he asked, "Is it Yelo's people causing trouble?"

"No, it's two tables of people who drank too much and got into an argument."

When they arrived at the table, Arlo saw two groups of people fighting.

He separated them with one hand each and said icily, "If you want to fight, take it outside. If anything is damaged here, you'll have to pay for it!"

The troublemakers weren't small-time thugs from the underworld, they were just intoxicated and couldn't control themselves after the argument escalated.

After being separated by Arlo, they calmed down.

After a few soft words of apology, the two groups left the bar.

"Mr. Johnson, you're amazing, you lifted a person with just one hand!" Kian admired Arlo's face, handing him a cigarette and lighting it for him.

Arlo took a puff, thinking it would be easy to smoke, but after trying it, he was choked and tears flowed out.

After calming down, he extinguished the cigarette and said, "Kian, are fights and troubles common in the bar?"

Kian shook his head, "Not really, but there are a few every month. You know, people who drink too much can do anything. I remember my first day here, I encountered a few drunk customers who were about to harass the night angels at the table. If Ms. Marsh hadn't called the police, things might have escalated further."

Arlo's peripheral vision caught sight of Yelo's table, where a few thugs were brazenly nibbling on the night angels, their hands wandering around.

His mouth twitched slightly, and he asked, "Do our night angels here only accompany customers for drinks? Or is there another service?"

Kian explained, "The bar's rule is that night angels only accompany customers for drinks. As for what happens after drinking, it's not the bar's concern. But Mr. Johnson, think about it, if someone is drunk, isn't it normal for them to take the night angels to a hotel room?"

Watching the youthful faces of those night angels, he was somewhat curious: "Do you know the ages of these night angels?"

Kian sneered disdainfully, "Most of them are in their early twenties, even some are eighteen or nineteen. Many of them are even college students. I've seen through it. There are few clean women in Fleross."

He didn't respond, thinking of Lydia's innocent face, Arlo felt somewhat grateful that she met him. Otherwise, she might have been devoured without a trace.

Arlo didn't feel sorry for those night angels who were taken away drunk.

After all, in places like bars, if you work here, you're essentially accompanying customers to drink. Can you not imagine what goes on behind the scenes?

This isn't the old society anymore. In this era, as long as you can resist the temptation of money, you can always make a living.

Those who become night angels can't rule out having genuine financial difficulties at home.

But most of them can't resist the temptation of money and willingly fall into depravity!

After all, just by putting on makeup every day, dressing up nicely, accompanying customers for drinks, and letting them touch and hug, you can earn one or two thousand bucks. If you close your eyes and accompany customers to a room, you can earn several thousand bucks in one night.

To many girls, working hard for a month at a regular job couldn't compare to earning that much money in one night at a bar.

The two continued patrolling in the bar for a while until closing time, and there was no trouble.

Come to think of it, after all, Fleross is a metropolis, and the people who come to bars are mostly white-collar workers from nearby office buildings, not the type to cause trouble.

Back in the lounge intending to change clothes, but when Arlo pushed the door, he found Lydia still in the lounge.

Hearing the noise, Lydia opened her eyes and, seeing Arlo, she softly asked, "Are you off duty?"

Arlo nodded, "You haven't left?"

Lydia murmured, "No," then explained, "It's too late, my roommate is already asleep, I didn't want to disturb her, so I decided to wait until dawn to go back."

"Don't you live in the school dormitory?"

"No, because I have a part-time job, going back too late at night would disturb others, so I rented a room with two other classmates."

Arlo took off his security uniform and changed into his own clothes, saying, "Where do you live? I'll take you back."

"Wouldn't that be too much trouble for you?" Lydia hesitated.

"It's no trouble at all, really."

They got on the bus and found seats by the window.

Looking at the tall buildings outside the window, Arlo was filled with determination. He believed that as long as he worked hard, he would eventually own a house in Fleross.

"What are you thinking about?" Lydia leaned on Arlo's shoulder and asked softly.

Arlo replied, "I'm thinking about when I'll have my own house in Fleross."

"You will!" Lydia smiled sweetly, "I believe in you!"

Infected by Lydia's smile, Arlo grinned too.

The two of them sat there smiling foolishly until they reached their destination. Lydia's rented place wasn't far from Urban Village, just across the street.

Compared to the chaos of Urban Village, although the neighborhood where Lydia lived was old and rundown, it was a government housing estate with very good security.

After seeing Lydia to the entrance of the neighborhood, Arlo watched her disappear into the hallway before turning and heading back to his rental.

Not long after, Arlo received a message from Lydia.

"I've arrived, take care on your way!"

Arlo's lips curled up involuntarily as he replied to the message, striding forward in the dawn light.

Back at the rental, just as he finished showering and lay down, there was a knock on the door.

Opening the door, he found Skyler.

Skyler still had makeup on her face, wearing only a camisole nightgown.

As soon as she entered, she hooked her arms around Arlo's neck. "Arlo, I missed you."

Before Arlo could say anything, Skyler's lips met his fervently.

Morning was when a man's desire was strongest. Skyler's actions ignited Arlo's desire, and he couldn't resist but to embrace her and head for the bed.

But the next moment, the door of the rental was kicked open.

A few thugs with weapons barged in.
