Chapter 10: Goodbye Lydia!
Ignoring him, Arlo took out his phone and started timing.
As a follower of Arlo, Kian was the first to take action.
Probably due to just walking out of the campus, he still had the innocence and honesty of a student, and soon he was dressed and standing in front of Arlo.
The other security guards didn't move, especially the last one, who even lay back on the bed, closed his eyes, and went back to sleep.
The remaining three followed suit, lying back down together.
Three minutes passed in the blink of an eye, and apart from Kian, no one listened to him.
Arlo understood it now; these people obviously didn't respect him.
"Mr. Johnson... Do you want me to do something?" Feeling the tense atmosphere in the dorm, Kian felt uneasy.
"No need." Arlo shook his head, then turned to the security guards pretending to sleep and said, "From now on, you're all fired. I'll talk to Ms. Marsh. Now, hurry up and pack your things and get out of here!"
As soon as he said this, several security guards immediately couldn't sit still.
"Why?"
"Who do you think you are to fire us just like that?"
"Exactly, we didn't do anything wrong. Who gave you the right to fire us?"
Arlo looked icily at them and said, "Because Ms. Marsh gave me the authority to fire you!"
The security guard who had hit someone cursed, "Nonsense! Who do you think you are as just a security team leader? Firing us? Do you believe I'll report you to the labor bureau?"
Arlo sneered, "Based on your performance last night, you are not worthy of being bar security! Ms. Marsh originally wanted to fire you last night. It was me who gave you a chance."
"I just gave you a chance, but you didn't cherish it. Since you don't cherish this opportunity yourselves, what else is there to say? Pack your things and get out!"
The security guards glanced at each other, then got up from the bed simultaneously and approached Arlo.
"What? Wanna fight?" Arlo remained calm, standing still and reaching for the metal bed frame.
The visibly deformed bed frame made several security guards immediately freeze in fear.
"Are you still going to fight?"
The security guards fell silent and obediently started packing their belongings.
Arlo stood at the door of the dormitory with Kian, watching them pack their things, and only after they left did he take Kian to the alley behind the bar's back door.
Kian was puzzled, "Mr. Johnson, you've driven them all away, what about the security work at the bar?"
Arlo scoffed, "With just those few people, does it make a difference whether we have security or not?"
Kian thought about it and realized it made sense, scratching his head and smiling, "Mr. Johnson, do you know Asian martial arts? Can you teach me a few moves?"
Arlo neither denied nor confirmed, only saying, "If you want to learn, you have to start with the basics."
"Really?" Kian's eyes lit up. "Mr. Johnson, I want to learn! I won't hide it from you, I always wanted to learn martial arts when I was a kid, but I'm the only son in my family, and they couldn't bear to send me far away."
Arlo was amused by him and demonstrated a horse stance in front of him, saying, "Starting today, when you can hold a horse stance for an hour, I'll teach you."
Following his example, Kian also assumed a horse stance. "Is this difficult?"
Arlo chuckled but didn't answer. The two of them started holding the horse stance in the alley.
After one minute, Kian felt his legs starting to ache, but for the sake of his martial arts dream, he gritted his teeth and persisted.
After two minutes, Kian's face was covered in sweat, and his complexion turned pale.
At two and a half minutes, the unbearable ache in his legs made Kian unable to continue, and he sat on the ground gasping for breath.
Seeing Arlo holding the horse stance effortlessly, he asked with his mouth open, "Mr. Johnson, how come you look so calm as if nothing's happening?"
Arlo smiled faintly, "Does it still feel easy now?"
Kian looked embarrassed, "It's difficult. Forget about an hour, I already find one minute very hard."
After a pause, he asked in confusion, "Can't you just teach me martial arts directly? Why do I have to hold a horse stance?"
Arlo didn't explain but instructed him to push him with force.
Doing as he was told, no matter how hard Kian tried to push Arlo, Arlo remained unmoved.
"This is basic training. If you want to learn martial arts, you must have a stable foundation. Without a stable foundation, it's no different from those flashy yet powerless moves."
"But how long do I have to practice to hold it for an hour?"
"For you, it'll probably take about half a year."
Hearing that he had to practice for half a year, Kian felt his scalp tingle. "Isn't there a faster way? Don't martial arts novels have secret techniques or something?"
Arlo impatiently tapped his head, "As you said, those are martial arts novels, they're fake and can't be taken seriously."
The two chatted for a while, and as the evening approached, the bar began to operate.
Arlo and Kian maintained order in the bar. With several security guards fired at once, they were both extremely busy.
Fortunately, the busiest period passed quickly. Kian was already exhausted and found a place to rest, while Arlo continued to patrol the bar.
Soon, a few more customers entered the bar.
Arlo frowned when he saw who it was.
It wasn't anyone else but Yelo with his yellow-dyed hair.
Worried about Yelo causing trouble, the bar manager personally approached, but was pushed away by Yelo.
Arlo immediately stepped forward, but before he could speak, Yelo grinned and said, "Mr. Johnson, we meet again!"
Seeing Yelo and his cronies behind him, Arlo frowned and asked, "What's the matter?"
Yelo laughed heartily and patted Arlo on the shoulder, saying, "Of course there's something! Brother, I'm here to support you!"
Support?
Arlo was taken aback for a moment. He thought Yelo had come to cause trouble, but was he here to spend money?
While he was still puzzled, Yelo said to the bar manager beside him, "Mr. Booth, I'll count my expenses on this brother's performance today, okay?"
Knowing Arlo's relationship with the boss, the bar manager immediately said, "No problem! Absolutely no problem!"
"That's great. In that case, five bottles of Rémy Martin and five bottles of Royal Salute, plus arrange a VIP booth for us and call a few night angels to accompany us!"
Mr. Booth was overjoyed upon hearing this. The liquor Yelo ordered was worth tens of thousands per bottle, and these ten bottles almost equaled the bar's sales for one night.
Immediately, he led Yelo and his group to a U-shaped booth and called a few waitresses in short skirts to accompany them.
With Mr. Booth's hint, he went forward and toasted a glass.
Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly noticed a woman sitting in the corner who looked very familiar.
It was Lydia, whom he had rescued on the train!
