Chapter 30

Getting drunk

Author POV

She stared at him, process his every single word, as she couldn't just believed her ears. She batted her lashes, she pinched herself, to be sure she wasn't hallucinating, but she realized that it was all reality, when she opened her eyes, and found herself, still standing on the spot, with Ethan, staring at her.

"Wh... why Ethan?" She stuttered, as her mouth came trembling, beads of sweats filled her forehead, her whole body, trembling, as she felt her brain, malfunctioning.

"You really want to know why? What the heck were you thinking Eve? That I would love you? Well that is the mistake you shouldn't have made in the first place. It was all a bet, to get into your pant, I never loved you, she's my woman, she's the only woman I've ever loved." He said, while pointing to the bitch he was having sex with.

She scoffed unbelievably, as she shook her head, trying to comprehend what he just said, but the more he tried understanding it, the more complicated it becomes, and she just couldn't help letting out a dry laugh, as tears poured out of her eyes.

"Really? Is this some joke or something? Ethan how could you? You made me fall so deeply in love with you, why the heck didn't you tell me all along? Why did you let me fall in love with you, if you know you were going to do this? Why did you let me trust you, when you know this was all a game from onset? Why..."

"I'll be so foolish to have told you about it! Would you have accepted to date me, if I had told you all that? The only reason why I've been with you, after having sex with you, is because I have conscience, I didn't want to leave just like that, and when I finally got an opportunity, I made use of it. Do you know what you almost caused me? You almost made me lose the only woman I ever loved, you almost made me lose my true love!" He snapped at her, looking all angry.

She took a deep breath, and threw her head back on the wall, while smiling painfully.

"If you'll please leave my house, I don't ever want to see you, anywhere around me, ever again." He said, his voice as cold as ever, and with that, he turned around and walked over to the lady, took her hand, before heading to the grand staircase, and in the next seconds, they started climbing it.

Meanwhile, Eve stood staring at them, till they were out of sight, as tears kept pouring from her eyes, as she felt her her heart, bleeding, the more she tried controlling herself, the more her emotions kept hitting at her, and she could only give in.

Wiping the trail of tears from her eyes, she turned around and headed to the door, before storming out of the house. She hobbled her way to the gate, while thinking about the whole incident that just happened, she wished someone could tap her, and tell her to wake up from her deep sleep, she wished she could wake up to everything, being a nightmare all along, but that seem to be the dream, that will never come through for her.

The thought of her, loving this same young man with her whole life, the thought of placing him over everything, hurts her like a dagger is thrusted into her heart, the thought of being in love with someone, whose relationship has been on bet from onset, makes her feel like she's losing her mind, which is the actual truth.

She finally got out of the gate, and ambled to her car, before hopping, after which she turned on the ignition, and revised the car, before driving away.

His words keep ringing in her head, as she drove down the road recklessly, not caring if she run into a car or not, after all, what's she living for? Her parents doesn't care about her, the only man she ever loved, just opened up to her that it was never love, her whole life is just a mess, so what the heck is she still living for?

She drove recklessly and absentmindedly, while drowning in her thoughts, she didn't know where exactly she was driving to, but one thing is sure, she wasn't planning to go home, she just want to clear her head, if possible, drink herself to stupor.

Driving to the nearest bar, she parked in front of it, and stepped out, before dragging her feet to the entrance door, after which she walked in, and went to sit at one corner of the bar, before calling the waiter's attention.

"Yes ma'am, what would you like to order?" The waiter asked politely.

"Just give me a bottle of vodka." She said, while staring out in the dark, through the glass window. It's already late, and she planned to drink herself to stupor, till the day break.

"Ma'am?" The waiter asked in shock, to be sure he heard her just write. He couldn't stopped thinking why she had to order for vodka of all alcohol, knowing how dangerous it is, especially to women.

"Don't question me, get me the vodka! Damn you man!" She yelled at him frustratingly, and turned her face away again, as more tears came pouring out of her eyes. She just couldn't stopped thinking about the whole thing, she just couldn't stopped herself from being hurt. As much as she wants to be strong, knowing that her fate can't be changed, she just couldn't help getting hurt. She's not entirely hurt because he broke up with her, but she's hurt, for being fooled for these whole years of being with him, she's mad at herself, for not figuring this out from onset, but then, she couldn't blamed herself entirely, he never gave her any chance for suspicion.

"Sorry ma'am." The waiter apologized, before hurrying away, and came back almost immediately, with a bottle of vodka, and a wine glass.

"Here ma'am." He dropped it on the desk, and bowed, before turning to go, but stopped, as she called him.

"Hey, here's your pay, in case I get tipsy later, don't bother calling anyone, just let me be here, you can close your shop when you're done for the day." She said, while holding out some money to the waiter, who looked at her confusingly for seconds, before nodding and took the money from her....
