Chapter 81: I just want it to know you the truth

82 - I just wanted you to know the truth

Katlyn waited patiently for Alan to leave the house to go to his company, she felt the sweat

running down her forehead and on the palms of her hands that she kept rubbing nervously,

she had planned it for days, she needed to talk to Helena, she was not going to be able to

endure one more sleepless night with guilt swirling around in her head.

She waited an hour longer since her husband had obligingly left the house, trying to be

cautious that he didn't suspect she was about to sneak out for a while.

Thanks to one of her friends, whom she had to make up a silly excuse so he wouldn't

suspect, she managed to get the redhead's current address. She wrote it down on a piece of

paper and erased the message, getting rid of any evidence Alan might take against her.

With her now bigger belly, sunglasses covering most of her face and a sports cap, she

headed downtown, taking several cabs to confuse anyone who might be following her, until

finally arriving at Helena's building.

She glanced at the communicator at the entrance of the building and held her index finger a

few inches from the button.

What would she tell him? She was sure Helena wouldn't want to listen to her and wouldn't

open the door.

To her luck, an elderly couple came out of the building and gave her time to get her foot in

before the door closed, entering the building and quickly getting into the elevator.

As she walked up to the floor where the apartment was located, she thought over and over

again if this was all a good idea, she was risking her own life, but it was too late to regret it,

whether she talked to him or not, she had already gotten there and if Alan discovers her he

wouldn't believe her that she didn't get to talk to the redhead.

"Too late for regrets" The little voice in her head spoke to her.

She reached the floor and stepped out of the elevator, feeling her knees go weak and she

would fall to the floor fainting, since she had become pregnant she had become a fragile

woman and she had to take extra care of herself so she wouldn't fall ill, her baby was taking

all her energy and vitality, Even so, the blonde did not hesitate to continue with the

pregnancy, it was not because she no longer wanted an inheritance, especially because she

could not share it with her now dead husband, but because she felt that this child was the

only thing that was hers, because she had nothing left.

Without realizing it she was already at the door and without much hesitation she knocked

twice, taking a few steps backwards and waiting for the door to be opened.

He swallowed his fear and took courage, he would tell the truth and leave there forever.

A young man she didn't know opened the door for her and she wondered if he was the

young woman's new boyfriend, unable to help but feel jealous of it as she saw that the

redhead had managed to turn over a new leaf quickly after the death of her secret lover.

The blonde felt that she would never be able to get over Sebastian.

-Hello?" the man asked, seeing that the blonde didn't say anything.

-Oh, sorry, hello," she exclaimed nervously, "Is Helena here?

David looked her up and down with suspicion, he didn't know this woman, but luckily Katlyn

had been smart and hadn't worn branded clothes that would give away her status, she could

be mistaken for an ordinary woman.

-Wait a minute..." she exclaimed, leaning against the door, "Helena!

-What?!" she heard from inside and Katlyn felt her heart pounding.

It had definitely been a bad idea.

How was she sure that woman wouldn't beat her up right there for how cruel she had been

to her since her first day at Aller Company?

There was a good chance that would happen. If she hadn't been pregnant she would have

let it happen. Because she deserved it.

She half-turned, ready to run away from there before the redhead peeked out, but no sooner

had she turned her back than she heard the voice of that young woman who had irritated her

so much a while back.

-Katlyn?

Helena looked at her in shock, her light blue gaze drifting down to the blonde's belly.

She herself noticed that Helena had a flat belly, confirming that she had already had her

baby.

The redhead said no more, closing the apartment door tightly.

-Helena, please..." the blonde begged, resting her hand on the door. -You hate me, I know, I

deserve that and more.

-How do you have the nerve to come to my house? You never liked me.

-I still don't like you... -she started to say and cursed herself for being so mouthy- Listen

Helena... I didn't come here to be your friend or anything like that, I just want you to know the

truth.

Helena stood at the door, looking through the hole where she could breathe out, she

observed the blonde and noticed her sad face, she looked really sorry.

-If it's one of your games I won't hesitate to kick you, even if you're pregnant," he threatened.

-I promise you it's true.

Helena sighed and thought:

"I don't know why I do this, I should stop being so nice."

Helena slowly opened the door and stepped aside.

Katlyn smiled sideways and shyly walked through-

-Permission.

Helena closed the door and sat down on the couch with her arms crossed.

Katlyn sat in the armchair across from her.

-David, stay with the children," the redhead exclaimed seriously.

The man didn't say anything else and left, later he would ask Helena who the fuck that

strange woman was.

-I see you're in a couple, I'm happy for you.

-David is just a friend," she exclaimed curtly.

-Oh, I see.

I see you're pregnant, congratulations, you got what you wanted and I'd say I'm sorry for

your husband, but I'm not really sorry.

Katlyn was surprised by the young woman's attitude, when had she become so harsh and

cruel? She was no longer the silly, shy redhead she had known.

"I guess I'm a little to blame for her being like this now" She thought.

-I didn't want to start there, but this baby isn't Sebastian's, it's Alan's.

Helena began to giggle, first shyly and then losing all embarrassment, releasing a loud

mocking laugh.

-You really are unbelievable Katlyn, you say I'm a slut and it turns out you were.

Katlyn said nothing, she knew she was right.

-So you got away with it," she clapped her hands sarcastically, "Now that your husband of

convenience is dead, you have no problem being with his brother and let me guess, it's a

boy," she said pointing to her swollen belly.

Katlyn looked down, she didn't need to say "Yes" for Helena to know it was.

Helena clapped again, but this time she got up from her seat to do so.

-I congratulate you, I really do, you've won Katlyn, now you'd better go," she exclaimed

angrily.

-Wait Helena, that's not why I came here.

-And what did you come here for? To apologize for how hard you made my life? I don't care

anymore, I'm really trying to move on with my family and seeing you here doesn't help me.

-I know you're not going to forgive me, but I don't want you to live without knowing the truth.

Helena folded her arms and sat back down on the couch.

-It's true, I was coming to apologize to you too.

Helena rolled her eyes.

-I've been a bitch to you, I know it's no excuse, but I was jealous of you, Sebastian was dead

for you, I noticed it from the first moment I saw you two in the elevator, I knew there was

something and I was foolish to believe that someday he was going to love me like he loved

you.

-Katlyn... I don't really care anymore, it's true that I loved Sebastian, but since I learned the

truth I've just been trying to stop loving him and move on with my life.

You mean about his death?

Helena bit her lip hard, trying not to release a moan of pain.

-Don't tell me you don't know?

-I... I don't know what you're talking about," the blonde exclaimed sincerely.

Helena laughed and wiped away the treacherous tears.

-I guess you were blinded by his deceit too, Katlyn... Sebastian was a monster he .... he

raped me that night of your bachelorette party, my girl is his daughter....

Katlyn was silent, and Helena began to think she had spoken too much, she was destroying

the idealized image of a dead man.

-Helena...

-It's okay if you don't believe me, I don't intend for you to.

-No Helena, listen... it wasn't Sebastian.

-What are you talking about? And what do you know?" she exclaimed angry, getting up from

the armchair, followed by the blonde who also got up, "Don't want to defend him just

because he's dead, he did it...".

-It was Alan Helena," she exclaimed with pain in her words.

Helena looked at her and blinked several times, as if she was trying to understand what that

woman had just said.

-What?

-Yes, Helena.

-No.

-Helena

-No," she exclaimed, shaking her head strongly.

-Sit down please," he exclaimed trying to grab her arm to make her sit down again.

-Don't touch me!

-It's okay," she raised her hands in the air, "Please calm down.

How do you know that? Where did you get it? Are you kidding me?" she shouted starting to

hyperventilate.

-Is everything all right Helena?" asked David leaning out the door.

-Go away, David, please stay out of this," she exclaimed, not mincing her words.

-Helena," repeated the blonde, "I know because he confessed it to me and not only that...

there is something else you should know.

-Something else?" she exclaimed with a smile full of pain.

-I was the one who drugged you that night, I was so angry with you, I thought it would be fun

to see you playing the fool in the middle of everyone, I never thought that after....

Katlyn couldn't finish speaking, because Helena gave her the slap of her life, turning her face

to the side.

Helena's hand began to form on her cheek like a red mark.

-Son of a bitch.

-I know, I am. But I don't want to be that resentful woman anymore- she exclaimed calmly- I

just wanted you to know Helena, not to hold a grudge against Sebastian, he was a great

man, the bad ones have been Alan and me, but not him, I think I always love you. I'm sorry

your baby is not his- she exclaimed touching her own belly.

Helena fell back on the couch, realizing that she had felt safe in the knowledge that her

abuser was dead and would never be able to get near her daughter, but now it turned out

that he was alive and could show up at any moment and want to take her away from her.

-No... it can't be..." she denied, unwilling to accept being in danger again.

-If you have any samples of Alan, anything at all, you can do an analysis to confirm it- he

began to speak, sitting down next to the redhead- I can bring you something if you want my

help.

"The dress and underwear" Helena thought as she remembered she still had them with her.

Katlyn stood up, seeing that she wasn't going to answer her.

-I just wanted you to know the truth," she exclaimed approaching the door, "I'm really sorry

for everything that happened, but I hope you'll be happy.

Helena didn't answer, still staring at the floor in shock.

-Please leave, I hope your child won't be like his father. Raise him well," she sentenced and

the blonde left the apartment without saying anything else.
