Chapter 5

"Does Manager He not understand the proposal he wrote himself?"

I deliberately emphasized the words "plagiarism" and "copying."

It turns out I was right about Laura being incompetent. Since the proposal contained some technical terms, I simplified them in English. She didn't even know what they meant, and it seemed she hadn't thoroughly reviewed the proposal. She stammered through her presentation, making a fool of herself.

Laura's face turned red as she stubbornly retorted, "I was giving you a chance to shine! Don't be ungrateful!"

"Oh~ Unfortunately, I'm about to be fired, so I don't need this opportunity. Since it's your department's issue, it has little to do with me," I said thoughtfully, preparing to leave.

"Bella!" Laura shouted angrily. "How can you be so selfish! Doesn't the company's business matter to you? As long as you're with the company, you're part of it!"

I ignored her.

Kenneth then stood up.

This project was a significant deal for the end of the year. The Williams family usually collaborated with the Hamlin family, and if something went wrong this time, Laura would be in trouble.

Desperate, she grabbed me and gritted her teeth. "Fine, we won't fire you!"

"Publicly admit to plagiarism and apologize to me," I stated my two conditions.

She glared at me as if trying to pierce through me, then squeezed out a word through clenched teeth.

"Fine!"

I immediately shifted from my casual demeanor to a professional one and confidently walked to the presentation screen. The manager humbly asked Kenneth and his subordinates for another chance and led them inside.

Presenting my own work came naturally. I explained and planned everything clearly and logically from several aspects.

After finishing, I looked at Kenneth.

Kenneth's usually stern face broke into a slight smile as he stood up and shook my hand.

"Pleasure working with you."

I smiled in response.

As I was about to leave, Kenneth spoke up.

"Just back from abroad and still adjusting? Would you join me for dinner tonight?"

I was taken aback; I hadn't expected him to recognize me from the start. I nodded gladly.

The manager, Laura, and my colleagues were all stunned.

They seemed puzzled about how an intern like me could have connections with such an important client of the company.

Kenneth left first.

Reluctantly, Laura publicly apologized to me. "I'm sorry, Bella. I accidentally submitted your proposal and misunderstood you."

"Oh~ Accidentally took it, accidentally submitted it, and accidentally presented it as your own proposal to the client," I said with sudden realization.

"You!" She pointed at me angrily as if she wanted to tear me apart.

"Make sure you look more carefully next time. Don't plagiarize someone's work and then accuse them of stealing. It's disgraceful."

With that, I grabbed my bag and left for the day. Kenneth was waiting at the company entrance for our dinner.

After this incident, my colleagues tacitly understood that Laura had plagiarized my work, and my capabilities were recognized.

At least passing the internship period wouldn't be an issue now.
