Chapter 3

It seemed that they had all been somewhat tormented by Laura, working under her with extreme caution.

From the very bottom, connections were brought in, and these people used their positions to oppress others. No wonder the company's cohesion had been lacking in recent years, with many talents leaving from the grassroots level.

I began my work.

A few hours later, I submitted my documents to Laura. She casually flipped through them with her long nails.

"Not acceptable! Redo it!"

I patiently made revisions, but she rejected them time and again, clearly making things difficult for me.

The last time, she didn't even look at it and directly threw it on the ground, causing a commotion that drew everyone's attention in the office.

"Bella? Are you a pig? I don't know how you got into Hamlin Group. Such a small task took you so long, and you still can't do it right!"

Her eyes flashed with provocation.

I knew she was deliberately trying to retaliate against me, using her higher position to suppress me.

"If someone like you can be a supervisor, it's only natural that I could get hired," I said with a smile as I picked up the papers.

"What did you say?" She stared at me in disbelief.

"I mean, as a supervisor, you reject my work without looking closely and can't provide any critical opinions or suggestions. You only demand revisions. If someone as incompetent and emotionally driven as you can be a supervisor, why would my employment at Hamlin family be an issue?"

I spoke each word clearly. The rest of the office didn't dare to make a sound.

The manager hurried over to speak for Laura, loudly reprimanding me: "Bella! What's wrong with you? An intern shouting like this-do you still want this job?"

Laura looked utterly humiliated and shouted that she wanted to fire me.

"I haven't done anything wrong; you have no reason to fire me." I was just stating the facts.

Laura gave me a vicious glare and said, "Fine! Then don't come to my team anymore."

"Any supervisor who dares to take you on is going against me!" she loudly threatened the other colleagues.

This was forcing me to leave on my own. Some tasks required collaboration and were nearly impossible to complete alone.

But difficult didn't mean impossible.

News came from the company about a collaboration with Williams Group next door.

The general manager asked each team to submit a proposal. I was alone in my team; if I did well, I could end my internship early.

I saw this as an opportunity and pulled several all-nighters to complete it.

Linda advised me that this event was just an excuse to promote Laura.

"She mentioned a couple of days ago that she's familiar with Kenneth from the Williams family. Doesn't that mean submitting a proposal would guarantee its approval?"

"Why should we even bother?" Linda pouted helplessly.

Kenneth?

Wasn't he my childhood friend? The son of my father's business partner, Mr. Williams?

We were close when we were young, but after my parents divorced, I lost contact with him. I wondered how he was doing now.

After submitting my proposal, the manager glanced at it and immediately tossed it aside: "Bella, are you crazy? Plagiarizing Laura's work is bad enough, but copying it word for word?"

Why were people in this department so hot-tempered?

"Plagiarize?" I stepped forward and directly checked Laura's plan. Sure enough, it was identical to mine.
