Chapter 26

Scarlet's POV.

I am not a fool. I know what I am doing. Given all the injuries on Kyle's body and the damages done to his car, I can imagine who's at fault. And it's not him for sure.

The way this lady is trying to trap him is equal to trying to extort money from him. And I will never let that happen.

“Since my child is at fault, you can report him to the police. As for the money you are demanding, you will get that once he's proven guilty. But if we find out that you are the one at fault, I will make sure you get the right punishment. Not to mention you will have to pay for all the damages.” I tried scaring her.

She faltered and looked at the crowd. “You... are you threatening me right now? Everyone here can see that you are trying to pin the whole thing on me. But I am not scared.” She spoke confidently, but a loophole can be seen in her behavior.

“Kyle, give me your phone. I don't think we can settle this matter peacefully. Only the police can help us now.” I asked Kyle to give me his phone, which he gave me in no time.

This child is behaving so well today. I didn't expect it. It looks like situations like this do make anyone humble.

Everyone was murmuring in the crowd. I listened to no one and called the cops. And now they were on their way. To be honest, the police wasted no time. The next thing I could see was them; they emerged from the crowd.

Well, it was expected. Since it was such a huge accident, someone must have called the police. And now that they were here, before I could even approach them, the lady did.

“Officer, you have to help me. This boy...he crashed into my car and almost made me lose my life. You have to punish him.” She's surely doing what she talked about.

“Who called the police?” The officer asked.

“It was me, officer. I called you.” I stepped forward with the child by myself.

“Is what she said true?” He asked me.

“We can't judge this situation just on someone's words. Before you pin this whole fault on someone, please investigate this matter first. This lady is saying that my child crashed into her car. That might be true, but there might be different possibilities as to why my child did it. I don't believe my child is at fault.” I asked the officer to be fair.

He looked at the woman and then Kyle before announcing to get them both to the police station for further investigation.

“If what you are saying turns out to be a lie, you can face serious punishment.” The officer warned both the lady and Kyle after we reached the station.

Before taking us the three to the police station, they cleared the traffic. Letting everything flow smoothly.

And now that we are back in the police station, the young officer kept staring at us, while the one who came to fetch us took out the CCTV footage from the nearest station controlling all the security.

“Look, I am the one who's traumatized, the one who almost died because of this stupid young man, so why am I being held here? Let me go. Tell this young man to pay for the damages he did to me and my car.” The expensive lady sure is throwing tantrums right now.

“Please sit here silently; don't throw tantrums here. If you are innocent, then we will give you justice. The police are here for it. So please wait until we see the CCTV footage.” Even the police think she's being too extra right now.

I can see the anxiety building on her face, the nervousness in which she's chewing her nails, and her legs shaking crazily. She's easily giving herself away without any proof being shown. And I am here for it.

Kyle is sitting beside me very patiently; he's silent the whole time. I literally didn't hear him say anything except his name, which I asked him as well. Is this young man always this silent and less talkative, or he's like this because of the situation? I don't know. But I can feel his anxiety and how scared he's right now.

While Kyle sat beside me silently, the lady was literally shaming my body and talking bad, throwing tantrums, and wanting her conditions to be fulfilled. She's throwing shades at both me and Kyle. But I guess she just doesn't know or realize where she's sitting right now.

It's a police station, and everything she's doing and how she's behaving is being recorded by everyone in their mind.

The CCTV footage finally arrived, and the office came with it. He plugged the pen drive into the computer and opened the file.

I took a final look at the lady and then shifted my gaze to the computer. And to everyone's surprise, the real culprit turns out to be this lady who's behaving rudely the whole time.

“As you can see, my child is innocent. This lady broke the law. My child would have lost his life because of her stupidity. Officer, you have to punish her. Please serve justice to my child.” I said.

Now there's no reason for me to stay reserved.

“No! This is wrong. It's a lie. This is rubbish. I didn't do anything. It's not me. This boy...he's at fault. He stopped his car, crashing into mine; you can't blame me for his mistake.” She screamed.

This woman is simply getting on everyone's nerves.

“We are seeing the same footage. The one at fault here is clearly you. Because you stopped your car out of nowhere, the one behind you had no time to react. Your stupidity almost killed him. Look at this kid. Do you see the injuries on his body and the state of his car? It's all caused by you.” The officer came forward, and he did what I thought of doing.

Even after knowing she'd been found guilty, she kept pining the fault on Kyle.

“Officer, because of her, my student sustained many injuries and is even traumatized. Not to mention the damages done to his car. Please let her pay for everything, and this will be the real justice for the victim. I hope you give her punishment; she will remember forever.” I asked the officer in a soft tone.

“Please sign this document both of you.” He asked us to sign the document, and we signed it immediately.

After that, she's asked to pay for all the damages; at first she was reluctant but eventually had to sign since the police forced her. After which we took leave from the police station while she kept cursing and screaming at us. The police had a really hard time containing her inside.

Since Kyle's car was damaged in the accident, I called the repairer to take it away. We hail a taxi and get in.

“Where are you taking me?” The kid finally spoke.

“To the hospital,” I replied.

“I am fine. Just drop me around there, and I will go back on my own.” Kyle spoke softly, but I could see his reluctance to visit the hospital, or maybe simply his reluctance to stay around me.

“I am not dropping you just anywhere. We will first visit the hospital, get you treated, and then I will personally drop you home.” I refused to let him go alone.

A young man, having so many injuries on his body, his clothes are torn. What will people think of him? And what if something happens on the way?

“You...why did you help me? And you kept calling me your child; I am not your child. Why did you show so much tenderness towards me? It was in fact a good chance for you to get rid of me.” He spoke in a tone I couldn't recognize what it meant.

He's doubtful, curious, anxious, and nervous at the same time. Is he afraid I will say something negative about him? I guess this kid is a little sensitive.

“You are the future of Left Wing. Don't forget, you are training under Ray Entertainment to become the next idol. If you somehow make it to the hot search for this kind of thing, whose reputation will be ruined? That's right, both Ray Entertainment and yours. I don't care if you feel in trouble, but Ray Entertainment is an outcome of my mother's blood and sweat. I can't let a young duckling like you destroy it.” I gave too much tension to my words.

And now I regret it so much. Kyle looks completely devastated. It looks like my words hurt him deeply.

“So...you only came to save your company's reputation. I thought you came for me because you were worried about me.” He's sad.

“But didn't you want the same? You all don't want me to care for you. You want me out of the company. After all, I snatched away the position that belonged to your beloved coach, Michelle Travis. I came because my secretary told me to. By the way, why didn't you call your beloved coach to come to save you?” I am so bad, I am literally sprinkling salt on his tender wounds now.

This damn mouth of mine, I want to stop but can't. I am past redemption now.

“I called him. He picked up and didn't even listen to me. He was busy with some other stuff and hung up on me. You were right. He gave up on us. He abandoned us.” He's getting emotional, almost ready to cry.

“He didn't come, but I came, didn't I? Now don't you start crying. Look, I am terrible when it comes to stopping someone from crying, so please don't throw me in that turmoil. If you cry, I will cry too.”
