Chapter 180 Always Us
Chapter 180 Always Us
~Jeremy’s POV~
We were all silent for a second.
Taylor broke it first. “Wait,” Her eyes narrowed further at Teyana, stepping closer. “What’s your name again? Teyana? You’re our late aunt’s daughter? Her name was Alice.”
Teyana nodded.
My lips curved in disbelief. “I can’t believe this just turned into a reunion.”
“Unbelievable,” Zayne muttered beside us.
The girls moved to her bedside immediately. Charlotte brushed Teyana’s hair back affectionately, while Taylor held her hand, eyes shining with familiarity now.
“Oh my God,” Taylor squealed. “Our little cousin sister is going to be a mother.”
“I can’t wait to tell our mum,” Charlotte added excitedly. “She’d never shut up about how you’re more serious with life than us. Let me tell you a secret, I hated you when she started talking about how you are better than us. I mean…she had only met you a couple of times and wouldn’t shut up. Thank God we don’t even live with her anymore.”
“And I had almost hated you when you kissed Jeremy on his cheek earlier too. By the way, Taylor, I’m not even little.” Teyana protested, smiling.
“You could have still passed for our immediate younger sibling. Mum said you are nineteen.” Charlotte stated.
“Almost twenty.” Teyana debated. “And you sure don’t look older than me.”
Taylor laughed. Zayne was laughing too.
I couldn’t help but join in the laughter this time around. It was healing. Too good to be true. They ranted more and for some moment, I felt forgotten as the three girls whined around, discussing and forming bonds.
“Okay,” I said finally, lips curving. “That’s enough. Can I have some alone time with my girl now?”
Zayne grinned. “Yeah. You need it. And you need sleep too. You went hard on that race, bro.” I smiled. Yeah, I was tired, but not too tired to be with her.
Taylor kissed Teyana’s forehead gently, then decided to tease. “We’ll see you soon, baby sis, and relate properly like families should, you know.”
Teyana whined again about not being their baby sister.
And just like that, they stepped out—leaving us in the quiet.
After they left, for a moment- I could only stare at Teyana, afraid that words would make her disappear.
“How are you feeling? About your mum.”
She exhaled shakily. “The pain won't go away anytime soon, but I think I can live with it. She wanted me to have this baby. I’m just glad the…abortion didn’t work.”
I held her hand. “I’m so sorry about her.”
“Jeremy, we can talk about us.” She said, not wanting to talk about her mother. I could understand that. My fingers rubbed her knuckles tenderly .
“This feels like a dream,” I finally said, my voice leveled, almost careful. “I won the race, and you showed. You are still…carrying our baby.”
Teyana’s lips curved softly. “I want to believe that life has finally stopped being cruel for five minutes.”
I huffed a breath, shaking my head. “You have me now. You won’t suffer again.” It was more than a promise. It was a grounding assurance. I was ready to take responsibility for good.
My thumbs brushed the back of her palms like I needed to be sure she was real.
“How’s it going with the girl you had a scandal with?” I sighed exhaustingly as I remembered all that had transpired during the past few weeks.
“It turned out my Dad’s political opponent set that up, and I stupidly fell into the trap. They are still on the case. Just glad we now know where it came from.”
Teyana gasped. “I’m glad he decided to step down from the politics world.”
“You knew about it?”
She nodded. “He told me.”
Silence stretched between us for a second, my mind already returning to us. “Before you woke, I’ve been thinking,” I paused, “A lot. About everything. About you. About us.” I swallowed. “We can move your studies online. You don’t have to be here anymore. You can come to Vegas… with me.”
Her lashes fluttered, and I felt her fingers tense slightly in mine.
“Vegas?” she repeated.
“If you’re comfortable with it,” I added quickly. “I don’t want to decide for you. I just… I want you with me. Where I am. Where I can see you every day and not feel like I’m missing half my life.”
She didn’t answer immediately. Her gaze drifted, like she was trying to weigh her options. I let her have that moment. This wasn’t a decision to rush.
Then she looked back at me. Her gaze softened.
“After everything that’s happened here,” she said quietly, “I believe I need a fresh start. I don’t want to keep waking up surrounded by memories that hurt.” Her voice steadied. “So yes. I’ll come with you.”
My chest cracked open. Relief, gratitude, love—all of it hit hard at once. She was going to come with me. Teyana and I- we were together again.
“I love you, Tey,” I said, the words leaving me before I could overthink them. “So much.” She had no idea how much. I felt whole and complete now. Nothing was missing in my life again. Nothing.
Her eyes shimmered instantly. She pushed herself up a little on the bed, ignoring whatever discomfort that came with it, and sniffed.
“Shut up,” she said hoarsely. “And kiss me.”
My lips stretched into a satisfying smile, then I leaned in. When our lips met, everything in me exhaled. The tension I hadn’t even realized I was carrying drained out of my body, and I kissed her like I was finally home. Like I’d been holding my breath for months and only just remembered how to breathe. This was where I wanted to be. Her hand moved to the back of my head, threading her fingers in my hair as our kisses deepened, lost in eachother.
Just then- the sound of door opening and a flash interrupted us.
Confetti exploded into the air, cameras clicking rapidly, voices erupting all at once.
“Yayyy!”
We broke apart, startled, blinking as the room suddenly flooded with people. Zayne was right there, grinning like he’d just won a rare treasure. Taylor and Charlotte were cheering, a few of my biker guys whistling and whooping. And then—
“Carol!”
Teyana shouted her name, disbelief and joy apparent in her voice.
Carol rushed forward immediately, her face already wet with tears, and wrapped Teyana in a careful hug.
I was purely stunned by the reality of all happening around me.
“What is all this?” I asked, half laughing, half overwhelmed.
“You’re welcome.” Zayne replied, a smug look on his face as if that was all the answer I needed.
“You planned this?” I asked.
“From the moment Teyana called me,” he said. “I knew you two weren’t done. So I figured—why not make it a moment? And I flew Carol in because- like I said- I wanted this to be a moment to remember.”
Zayne. The same Zayne I wouldn’t have hesitated to ball his eyes out months ago if I could, now making these sacrifices for me- as my brother now.
The bad days were gone. Gone for good, I hoped.
Teyana was crying openly now, clutching Carol like she might disappear if she let go. “I’ll never forget today,” she said through tears. “Never.”
Carol pulled back just enough to look at her, her hands cupping Teyana’s face. “You deserve every bit of this happiness. You’ve gone through a lot.”
It seemed like Teyana had updated Carol about the baby. I turned to her. “Thank you,” I said, and meant it with everything in me. “For being there for her when I wasn’t.”
Carol smiled at me, “Teyana would have done the same for me.”
Taylor now had tears in her eyes. Charlotte on the other hand was smiling. My biker friends hung around, bearing witness to this special moment of my life. If I weren't overwhelmed, I would have been embarrassed by their presence.
My attention returned to Teyana. I leaned down and kissed her again, slowly, my hand resting protectively at her side. Cheers erupted around us, louder than before, laughter filling the room until it felt too small to contain it all.
For the first time in a long time, everything felt aligned.
And I knew then, that the two of us were inevitable.
It had always been us. It would always be.
