Chapter 23
“God forbid we piss Queen Kate off.” Dale laughed as he let me down on the throw that Lee had set on the sofa.
“Don’t let her hear you calling her that.” I chuckled.
Dale dropped down onto the sofa beside me pulled me into his arms.
“Save me a space,” Lee insisted as he hurried to the kitchen to grab the desserts I’d prepared earlier.
A few moments later he’d managed to carry three bowls onto the living area, handed two out and dropped down onto the opposite side of me.
“What’s tonight’s movie then?” he asked with a smirk. “Notting Hill?”
“No way!” I yelled. “I am not listening to you two argue over Hugh Grant and Collin Firth again.”
Dale threw back his head with laughter. I loved the way that he laughed. Especially the way it caused his eyes to spark.
“Let’s channel surf until we find something,” I suggested. There was nothing like watching trashy television after a good love making session.
“Sounds like a plan to me!” Lee agreed and reached for the television remote that was perched on the coffee table.
The first bite of my cannoli was like heaven and I moaned out loud.
“I agree, this is some good shit!” Dale agreed with his first bite.
“I think I need to get in on this action!” Lee scooped a mouthful into his mouth and moaned just as I had.
“Sex and food with two gorgeous, amazing people,” Dale commented. “How had we never thought of this before?”
“I don’t know about you but I was scared Rhea would turn us down,” Lee responded. I couldn’t help but gape at him. Last night hadn’t been a mere fluke. They’d been thinking about it all.
“So, you’ve thought about all this before?” I asked.
“Hell yeah!” Lee laughed. I was amazed at the way he didn’t bother to tone it down for his husband.
“Who doesn’t fantasize about having their partner and their best friend at the same time?” Dale pointed out. That’s when I suddenly realized that he was right. Although I didn’t have a partner, I had thought about having Dale and Lee together.
I suddenly remembered the drunken dream I’d had the first night we met Dale on our night out. I had almost completely forgotten about it until right now when the kinky fuckery of it all came swimming back to me.
“I’ve thought about it, too,” I admitted and felt my cheeks begin to blush.
“Well now we can all say it’s not just a fantasy.” Dale shrugged. “It’s happened.”
“I’d like it to keep on happening,” Lee added and I felt my heart skip a beat deep in my chest. My breath caught in my throat as he continued, “Rhea, Dale and I have been talking and we’d like to take this to the next level.”
“The next level?” I gulped. I couldn’t even begin to imagine what he was suggesting. What could be the next level on from sex with your best friend and his husband?
“We’d like you to be our life partner,” Dale explained. “Make things official so to speak.”
“You mean like a girlfriend?” I mumbled, struggling to get my voice to work.
“Yes, just like that although girlfriend sounds so high school.” Dale laughed. “Partner will do.”
“So, you guys want to make this a permanent thing?” I looked from Dale to Lee and back again.
“Yes, we don’t want to let you go and neither of us can imagine sharing you with anybody else.” Dale’s voice hardened at the end as though he was jealous at the mere thought of me being with someone that wasn’t them.
“After the last couple of days, I can’t even begin to imagine myself with anybody else,” I admitted.
“So, it’s settled then?” Lee perked up. “You’ll be ours?”
Ours. That word made my heart beat quicken and butterflies dance in my stomach.
“Yes,” I breathed. “Yes, I will.” 13
The next morning, I woke sprawled on the sofa with a blanket draped over me. I perched up on my elbows and looked around for the two men I’d fallen asleep on the sofa with. Neither of them was to be found.
Disappointment filled me like a black hole and I sat up to find a piece of paper on the coffee table before me. The note read: Hey Ree-Ree, we didn’t want to wake you because you looked so peaceful. Had to go to work. We’ll call you tonight. Love L & D xx
I was glad to know they hadn’t just skipped out on me after the conversation we’d had the night before, but also disappointed that I hadn’t gotten to wave them off on their way to work. For a moment I wondered whether I had missed my own alarm for work but then it hit me. It was a Sunday. The office wasn’t open on a Sunday.
