Chapter 18: Eighteen

Luca.

I do not know what was coming over me; I lost control for the first time in my life. There was something about being her first, and my wolf was pleased with it too.

All my wolves wanted to complete the mating process and make her ours, but I was not ready to take on that type of responsibility. I was already protecting Elena in the best way I could, but completing the mating process will mean letting the entire world know about her; it will mean putting her in a position of being targeted because she was mine.

I did not even notice when I had lost control; I felt blood sipping through her neck and entering my mouth. Her blood was sweet; I bit her hand, and her nails pierced the skin on my back, bringing me to total orgasm. I remained where I was and came inside her, then collapsed on her.

I looked down at her. I realized I heard her scream, but I pushed it away.

"Elena." I called her name softly. Had she passed out? I did not know what to expect from the mating. My father never supported marrying your mates, so he excluded that part of the marriage from our education.

I began to worry; there was only one person who could help me at this moment.

   “Elena!” He panicked.

He put a call through to his father’s wife.

"Luca, I was not expecting you to call me, and it is so late in the night." Her voice sounded shocked.

I was rethinking; telling Sarah I had mated would also mean my father finding out about Elena.

"I need a favor from you, Sarah." My voice was deep and raspy.

Sarah paused for a moment. I am sure she could not believe her ears. The same person who had not spoken to her for years was coming to ask her for a favor.

“If you do not want to help,..." I was going to change my mind.

“What do you need, Luca?” Her voice was soft. She always wanted to build a good relationship with me because, because of her daughter, I was the only one who could protect her.

"Do not tell Father,” I started.

“It is not like I tell your father my every move." She sighed. She was always such a chatterbox, but one thing I knew about her was that she was smart and calculative. She always had a solution to every problem.

“I mated, and now she is not waking up. I do not know what to do,” I stammered.

Sarah was shocked; she was aware of the Avante rule. There was no mating, because mating, according to my father, was created to weaken us and tame us.

"Your father will be angry if he hears about this, Luca." Sarah was already getting scared.

I sighed.

"Are you going to tell me or not?” I raised my voice over the phone.

“Okay, if she is a wolf, she is supposed to wake up without any hassle; I am not even sure you pass out from the mating process,” she told me.

My heart started racing. Had I killed her mistakenly?

"I do not even know what she is, Sarah, and that is the problem,” I shouted.

I have never seen myself behave so cowardly. I did not know I would be scared to lose someone I barely even knew.

"Luca, calm yourself. Take the sliver and find out what she is,” she told me.

I cut the call and went to my drawer, carefully wearing gloves. Sliver was very toxic to werewolves, causing wounds that could not be healed quickly.

I brought the silver to her palm, and I heard a sizzling sound followed by a burn.

"She is a wolf?” I was confused.

"Luca." I heard her call my name.

The pain began as a low, throbbing ache, coursing through her limbs like liquid fire. She clenched her teeth, fighting against the searing agony that intensified with each passing moment. I watched, his heart heavy with concern, knowing that there was no turning back now; I had triggered her transformation. I picked her up and carried her to the spare room we had turned into a den during our transformation period.

Elena's body convulsed, and a guttural growl escaped her lips. Her hands, now transformed into powerful claws, dug into the soft earth. Her spine arched, and she let out a howl that echoed through the night, a sound that mingled pain and primal power.

The white fur erupted from her skin like a cascade of snow, covering her body in a shimmering coat. I watched as her muscles shifted beneath the surface, rearranging themselves to accommodate the new form. Her bones cracked and snapped as they reshaped, and a cry of anguish escaped her.

Blue light glowed fiercely in her eyes as they opened, revealing the transformation's progress. Luca saw the struggle within those cerulean depths—a battle between the human consciousness and the instinctual urges of the wolf.

Elena's limbs elongated, and she staggered and fell on fours. The pain seemed to reach its zenith as her facial features shifted, the contours of her face reshaping into a wolfish snout. Through gritted teeth, she managed to speak, her voice a mixture of human and animalistic tones.

"Luca," she gasped, her breath coming in ragged pants. "Help me."

I rushed to her side. I remembered my first transformation too; it was painful, and even as a child, I knew how painful this process was. I could feel the energy coursing through her, the wild power of the wolf struggling to assert dominance.

"I'm here, Elena. Just hold on," he whispered. I touched her head and brushed it down. We had not seen a white female wolf in a long time. Her fur was special, and her eyes were beautiful.

I kneeled beside her, turning into a wolf too, to give her a familiar feeling. I could not stop wondering why her identity was masked.

The air inside the hidden chamber was thick with tension as Elena, now in her wolf form, paced anxiously.

"It's going to be okay, Elena," I said to her. I could now read what was on her mind and communicate with her without talking since we had completed the mating. "I'll be right there with you."

Elena was calm now; her senses had tripled, and she was unfamiliar with what was going on, but at least she had someone by her side.

She passed out after.

“Elena, Elena!” Luca called out to her, trying to wake her up.
