Chapter 45 Vampire guests 3

Chapter 45 Vampire guests 3

\-Amelia’s point of view-

"What?" my father said sharply, his brows drawing together as he stared at me.

I took a breath and gathered what little courage I had. "I have the right to speak for myself now, don't I? I escaped from your dungeon, and there's no way I'm returning to the place where I was imprisoned for my entire life. Never! Return to your clan, Father, and erase me from your memory."

My defiance burned fiercely as I glared at him with all the loathing I could muster.

"Amelia, I am your father,” he said firmly. “You are coming with me.”

I shook my head and responded, "I’m not going with you, Dad. If you cannot respect the hospitality offered here, then it would be better for you to leave. I do not want to be part of your life. Please, just go.”

"We are your family, Anelia!" My father's voice suddenly thundered through the tense atmosphere. A faint smile touched his lips, as if he sensed the fear I was trying to suppress. “Do you really believe these creatures will accept you simply because you happen to be their Alpha’s mate? You have only traded one mistake for another.”

I drew in a shaky breath and stepped back slightly, unable to respond immediately. All I knew in that moment was that I was not going anywhere with him. I was staying right here with Alex.

"So, it appears Amelia has made her decision, Mr. Mikael Moore,” Luc said calmly, his tone firm enough to end the discussion. “You have  overstayed your welcome in my pack."

My father's anger was palpable, his eyes darting back and forth between me and Luc. The vampires surrounding him mirrored his aggression, baring their fangs in a threatening display.

In response, the werewolves in our pack stood firm, their muscles tensed and ready to retaliate should the situation escalate into violence.

The air felt heavy, strained by more than just opposing sides.

“You will not win on my territory, Mikael,” Luc said evenly, his authority clear. “It is time for you to acknowledge defeat and move forward. Amelia is part of my pack now. It's high time you come to terms with that fact."

My father remained rooted in place for what seemed like an eternity, his gaze locked onto me. I could practically feel the waves of frustration emanating from him as he grasped the inevitability of losing me.

Finally, he signaled to the vampires, and they reluctantly began to withdraw. Just before stepping away, he delivered a final warning.

"This is not over,” he said coldly. “Mark my words. You may think you understand what you have involved yourself in, Lucien Draven, but you do not. Do not say I failed to warn you. And you, Amelia…” His expression darkened. “I should have ended this when I had the chance. I should have ended you!"

The words made my heart heavy. ‘How can my father say such a thing to me, his own daughter? What have I done wrong that warrants such hatred ?”

With one last hard look, he turned and left, his clan following behind him, though the tension he brought with him remained.

I let out a weary sigh, my eyes fixed on Luc as he issued orders to his pack of werewolf warriors. The room had cleared of the impending threat, but the tension lingered like a thick fog.

When the last of the warriors stepped away, Luc faced me, and the hardness in his eyes eased.

“Are you alright?” he asked quietly.

I offered a hesitant nod, though my mind was a whirlwind of confusion and unease. "I think so,” I said, my voice barely steady. “As long as he doesn’t succeed in taking me, I’ll be alright.”

Luc’s hand brushed against my cheek, warm and steady, sending a comforting shiver through me. “I’m glad to hear that,” he said quietly, his tone gentle but firm. “Your father…  is truly unhinged."

I blinked at him, letting his words sink in, then voiced the worry that had been gnawing at me. “What if there’s something… wrong with me, Luc?  My father seemed to drop a hint to that, and it's the only explanation for why he had me locked up for so long. What if there’s something dangerous about me that I don’t even know?”

The worry in my voice was evident, my brow furrowing as I thought about the possibility. My father's intense animosity towards me had always been an enigma, and now it gnawed at my conscience like a persistent shadow.

Luc’s hands cupped my face, steady and reassuring and his gaze met mine with certainty.

"There's nothing dangerous about you, Amelia,” he said firmly. “Your father, well, he simply can't accept that you're different from him, that's all."

I hesitated, the question still whispering in my mind. “But why am I different?” I asked softly, even though deep down, I knew that Luc, as caring and supportive as he was, couldn't provide an answer to that question.

His just smiled and replied, "We'll figure it out. Together.”

That smile felt like a balm to my soul. It warmed me in a way I hadn’t felt in years, and for the first time in a long while, I let myself believe that maybe there was a way to understand my past, and maybe even find peace.

Luc had come through for me once again and I smiled at him, my chest warming with gratitude. It meant more than I could put into words to have someone stand by me so firmly, especially on the days when I struggled to stand by myself.

“It’s getting late,” he said gently, shifting the focus to something simpler. “We should rest.”

I nodded, trusting him completely. Without waiting for anything more, he took my hand, our fingers fitting together with ease, and led me out of the room.

As we walked, I felt a profound sense of belonging and security, knowing that, no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together.

He won't give up on me.
