Chapter 25: A trap for betrayal
Its been six days and all I can think about is my kitten, weve only spoken once since my departure and Sodo is driving me crazy with how much he requests we go to her, thet we should not be separated this early into our bond.you think if I could I wouldn’t be in vampire lane already. Im sure that sniveling warlock has been pestering her. If my sisters safety hadn’t been threatened I would already be there. Instead im stuck in my pack lands dating women who I cant even be bothered to tolerate.
Today im supposed to meet with another high ranked wolfs daughter. Im so tired of parading around my lands with these women.
“Sosier, be cautious today, father seemed more excited than usual at todays shewolf.” Pachiw is sitting in my room flipping through a magazine. “Hes always hopeful, so far none have even made sodo lift his head.” “ Yea cause hes too busy pinning after someone else who you’ve neglected to speak about. don’t thing I haven’t seen him looking off with a forlorn look, I know he wants to be somewhere else. What I don’t understand is why your wont tell me.” I don’t bother to respond, after her reaction to the pendant, I don’t want to give her any more reason to worry. Its bad enough our father is actually considering accepting the mating contract to a dark sidhe, he had been visiting the vampire lands during one of the paired wedding they were holding for one of the princes to a sidhe female in hopes they would be able to conceive, and my dear sister just so happened to be in attendance because it was her best friends brother, since then the male has been sending mating contracts and business ventures inorder to convince my father to allow him to take her to his lands and mate with her. Last I heard, he had placed a time limit on the last contract, only requesting that she mate with him for one yea. Pachiw and I both know he doesn’t intent to return her after the year. We saw it in the possessive way he watched her, he wont ever let her go, and with as bad a reputation as he has, ive prevented my father form accepting any contracts. Which is why im here dating she wolves I don’t want to be around, instead of with my kitten. “ He sent over another contract yesterday. This time hes also included a letter for me, and a chest.” This news has me looking at Pachiw with new interest. The Sidhe rarely bestow gifts, to receive one means he is mor ethan just interested. “Pachiw, when you see him, what does he make you feel?” I watch as her she freezes, her skin flushing as she thinks about my question. “PAchiw, has he been speaking to you in dream walk?” her eyes snap to me in alarm and I smile slowly. “ so you have already accepted his claim.” Her face pales at my words. “ I didn’t know! I swear Sosier, I thought It was just a dream and now I feel trapped and confused. Father has told him, that my mating rights are no longer in his hads, and instead I am in the protection of my brother. The letter he sent me was to ask me why I would do this, that I am … he is asking for an audience with you.” I can sense she was going to say something eles but I drop it. I have to leave in 5 minutes to have private lunch with my date of the week.
“don’t leave these rooms, ill be back soon”. She nods her head and continues to look at the book in her hads, shes been on the same page since she walked into my study, and I can already tell shes thinking about the sidhe male. Someone who I thought she needed protecting from, however now looking at my sister, I wonder if her aversion to him is mainly due to pack prejudice.
When I enter the rooms, im relieved to find that I am the first to arrive, I hate when they arrive first, because they spend the time filling the space with their scent. Touching any and everything hoping that if it lingers Sodo will somehow be unable to resist seeking them out. The moment the doors open we are on alert. The female who walks in smells luke roasted nuts and honey, making sodo lift his head and sniff. The more he inhales to headier the scent becomes and hes practically salivating, it inst until the female looks up at me with a flushed face and the door shuts and locks for our alootted time that I realize I am in trouble. Sodo begins to pant, licking at his snout mentallu spreading the scent. She is in heat. Damn him, this is why he was so smug and so sure of todays date. Sodo, keep it together, if we mate her our kitten will feel it. Youre the one who marked her, and ill be damned if I have to explain to her why weve mated another female. my words don’t seem to be regustereing, and I feel the affects of her heat starting to take hold.
