Chapter 26: Why She Loves Me
"Janet, are you the one saying this?" Gold inquired. "That's your business, but as for me, I can't wait to take things to the next level tomorrow, when I'll make passionate and intense love with him in his office."
"I'll make sure to almost damage your ear drums with my ecstasy moan, so good night," Janet said as she landed on her own side of the bed, pretending to sleep while Gold's loud cries rented the entire room.
The next morning, Janet awoke to find Gold still lying on the bed; she couldn't sleep at all until dawn because she was hurting on the inside as a result of her boss's and her friend's relationship.
When Janet awoke, she acted as if she didn't care about anything as she grabbed her phone and went to the bathroom. Janet made certain to secure the door and turn on the shower to drown out her words before dialing Wilson's number, to which he promptly responded.
"Hello, boss."
"Hello Janet, I was about to call you because I couldn't sleep last night. "How is Gold faring?" He inquired.
"Sincerely, she is not doing well. She couldn't sleep the entire night because she kept crying. Her face was puffy even though it was only yesterday, and she's still crying. I know I started this game, but I don't think I'll be able to continue with it. "I can't stand seeing my friend so unhappy, and don't worry, I think she'll spark up," Janet said.
"That's why I called, because I'm sick of the whole thing." Even though she didn't notice me, I saw her crying in the restroom yesterday. "Perhaps she really does love me, as you said," Wilson speculated.
"She obviously loves you; otherwise, why is she crying?"
"I think we should just keep things low-key today," he said.
"OK, sir, I understand, bye."
" Bye"
She hung up the phone and returned to her room to retrieve her towel when she noticed Gold sitting on the bed, seemingly unconcerned.
She went back into the bathroom and took another bath.
Gold went straight to the bathroom when she came out.
"I'm sorry, but I'm just helping," Janet reasoned as she dressed. She left for work before Gold emerged from the bathroom.
Gold spent more than an hour in the bathroom thinking rather than bathing, accompanied by tears.
Finally,
She stepped out of the bathroom and hurriedly prepared for work. She had considered skipping work at first, but after reconsidering, she decided that losing twice was not a good thing, so she went to the office and faced her fate.
She let her hair down because she lacked the strength to style it before deciding on a pair of simple loafers because wearing heels causes her to collapse as a result of too much thinking.
She alighted at a bus stop and walked a few steps to the company before strolling to the cab station to board a bus with heavy thoughts on her mind. When she arrived, she was surprised to see Michael standing outside.
"Hi Gold," he waved, and she moved closer to him.
"Good day, Sir." she greeted him.
"Good morning, Gold," he responded with a smile ... "but what happened to your face?" Michael inquired, concerned about her.
"Do you give a damn about me?" Gold inquired, but instead sighed and took a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, lit it with a lighter, and began smoking it, releasing smoke in the process.
"It's really cold this morning," Michael laughed, until Gold's voice cut him off.
"What motivated you to do it?" She inquired.
"What exactly are you talking about? Doing what? " Michael inquired, staring at her and exhaling smoke from his cigar once more.
"Why did you betray your brother?" she asked, but Michael looked away before returning her gaze.
"Come with me," he said, and she followed him until they arrived at a tea shop and sat down.
"Would you like a cup of tea?" He inquired.
Gold had refused to eat anything since yesterday and was now hungry, so taking the tea would make her feel even more hungry, so she turned down Michael's offer.
"You asked me earlier why I betrayed my brother, but I don't consider it betrayal, even though you all do and view it that way. "I see it as assistance I rendered to him because that girl named Jennifer is a bitch and I just exposed that. Just imagine he gets married to her without knowing the type of person she was, it would have been messy," he explained.
"But there was no way he wouldn't find out that she was the bitch you claimed she was, even after they married," she explained.
""It might be too late by then," he replied.
"Do you feel guilty now?" Gold inquired, but he remained silent for some time before responding.
"I'm sorry; you know, the person I value and cherish the most in this world is my big brother, and I'll never let anything bad happen to him." After our father died and Carolina left us, he is the only person I look up to." Michael stated.
"Who exactly is Carolina?"
"That's the name of our so-called mother, who abandoned us many years ago after our father died." Since then, Wilson and I have relied on each other for support.
"I regret ever doing that to him because he now dislikes me, but on the other hand, I don't regret it because I helped," Michael said, dumping his cigarette on the floor and grinding it with his shoe.
"You should have asked for an ash tray or something instead of destroying the place," Gold advised.
"That's the least of my concerns, madam, and returning to you, I believe you and my brother are up to something, and it's obvious you like him; tell me, why was he sick the day before yesterday?" He was so sick that he couldn't speak, so I had to call his doctor." Michael stated
"Was he truly ill?" Gold inquired, feeling guilty.
"You didn't realize?"
" Well.........I........" Gold stammered, but Michael cut her off.
"You see, I don't believe in love, but I do believe in going after what you want because it will help you a lot, so try it."
Lying and pretending are two very dangerous things in the world, so get rid of them while you still have the chance, Gold. "I'll see you in the office later," Michael said as he rushed out the door.
"Pretense, like what I'm doing now is pretending not to love him in his presence, lying that I don't love him, Gold, what have you done now, how can I fix this?" she muttered to herself.
As she walked back to the office, she pondered this question.
She never used the elevator or lift, so she decided to take the stairs as her punishment until her knee and leg began to hurt, but she endured it until she arrived at the office.
She went directly to the coffee machine to prepare his coffee after walking to her floor and leaving her bag on the table.
She took it to his office and noticed him working on his laptop, and he didn't even look her way as she dropped it on the table.
She worked carelessly and absentmindedly and forwarded the old schedules to him instead of the new ones, forcing him to leave his office.
"Gold, come with me." Wilson called in a calm tone.
"All right, Sir," she said as she followed him to his office.
"What were you thinking when you sent me the old schedules?" Wilson wondered while he asked.
"I was... emmm...Gold stammered."
"You know what, it's all right. "I'll be going out for lunch with Janet," he said, beginning to walk away, but Gold looked up slowly and mustered courage before calling him.
"Wilson," she called, but as soon as he turned to face her, her courage vanished.
"I'm sorry Sir, it was an error," she said, trying to hold back her tears. He gave her a brief glance before opening the door and about to walk out when he heard her voice again.
"Wilson," she said again.
"What's the matter, Gold?" he asked, not looking back.
"I love you," Gold said, letting her tears fall as Wilson stood motionless, holding the door. At that moment, it appeared as if all of his requests had been granted, as a wave of happiness swept him off his feet until Gold spoke again.
"Please, don't abandon me for Janet," Gold begged as she walked closer to him and embraced him from behind, clutching her fingers firm on his belly and resting her head on his back, allowing her tears to soak his shirt.
"Please don't leave me, Wilson, I'm sorry for lying to you about how I truly feel, I'm truly sorry, and I love you so much, I swear," Gold said, still crying.
Wilson unclipped her hands from his belly and turned to face her, his gaze fixed on her cheek. He carefully cleaned her tears, but they kept falling.
"Idiot," he said, smiling.
"Wilson, I absolutely love you," she said.
"I despise you," he teased.
"Please tell me what I can do to make you love me again," Gold said while she searched through his eyes.
"Don't cry any longer, and I'll love you forever," he said, and she tried hard not to cry any more.
"Please don't abandon me in favor of my best friend." Gold begged once more.
