“Please Athena, I am sorry for all my wrongs. Will you take me back?”

Athena let out a round of laughter. His words were laughable. She never in her wildest dream thought a day like this would come.

“We are fated mates, Athena. Whatever happened in the past was a mistake. The dragon king doesn’t love you.. he is just using you.” The mention of Alaris made her face squeeze.

“How dare you mention him?” She asked, her voice laced with anger.

“His people will never accept you. You are a wolf Athena, he is a dragon. You are of two different worlds. Two mortal enemies sworn for ages to kill each other at sight.”

“Then why hasn’t he killed me yet?” She tilted her head to the side, her arms folded on her chest.

“He is waiting for the right time. Gain your trust and then finish you.” He replied and Athena rolled her eyes.

“Oh please..”

“Stop this nonsense and let me go or you will regret it.” She warned and he only drew closer.

“I am the mate of the dragon king, Alaris. I am Athena, the dragon queen.” Her voice was firm and loud, laced with authority that made Kaden still like a statue. She leaned downward, her faces inches away from his as she looked into his eyes. Those eyes that humiliated and tormented her. “Do you want to get burn?” Her voice was low and poisonous.

“You are playing with fire, KAden.” She stroked his face with her finger and straightened herself before returning to sit on the bed.

“It’s just a matter of time before, Alaris finds us.” She told her wolf who was squirming and exhaled slowly.

She closed her eyes and tried to imagine what Alaris could be doing. In court? Running around searching for her? Or like Kaden said, forgotten about her? She shook her head and laid on the bed. She just have to wait for Alaris to show up.

Kaden couldn’t believe his ears. Athena, the dragon king’s mate? How was that even possible? It didn’t look like she was making it up but her jokes? They are laughable these days unlike before when they were so dry.

“You think I would believe that?” He chuckled and shamelessly rose to his feet, turning to face her.

“You know this very well. You were thought in school by Ms. Grander. Wolves and dragons are mortal enemy meant to kill each other at sight. Wait..” he paused and stepped forward.

“Don’t tell me you are claiming to be the dragon king’s mate because you are still hurt that I rejected you.” He taunted, revealing his teeth and Athena’s face wrinkled.

“Where are you getting that idea from?” She asked lazily. She missed her dragon husband already.

“Ah yes I knew it. Rejected women don’t move on.” He clasp his hand and Athena rolled her eyes.

“Says the cock who placed a bounty on her ex because he couldn’t leave her.” She rolled her eyes and scoffed at his hurt ego.

He knew why he brought her back. The reason she ran two years ago.

“You might want to see your mother.” He said, drawing her attention back to him and it worked.

Her mother, she hasn’t seen her for long. She hoped she is okay. They had promised each other no contact until Kaden had gotten over her.

“She helped you escape,” Kaden began, his voice solem and Athena’s heart skipped a beat in her chest. He knew? Could her mother be in danger? Was she still even alive? The thought of her mother dying made her heart skipped even more and Kaden noticed it. He heard the irregular beat of her heart unlike before when she was awfully calm.

“She has silver tied over her kneck and wolf’s bane being fed to her daily.”

Athena’s chest clenched, a sickening feeling washing through her. The image of her mother in that position made her skin crawl, her heart ached, a numb paining shooting through her limbs as if she was the one who held hostage in silver.

“What have you done to her?” She demanded, rising up to a sitting position, her eyes laced with only one emotion —anger.

Then it struck Athena. If he mother is being fed wolf’s bane then she was certainly still alive.

“You may want to know if she still remembers you. You know wolf’s bane has a mind of its own.” He winked and she swallowed. The last thing she wanted was for her mother not to remember her.

“Take me to her.” She said, throwing her legs to the ground, her eyes laced with something unknown.

“Hold on.. hold on.” He shushed her and placed his hands on his waist.

“Don’t be too fast.”

He stepped closer and cupped her face. Anger surged through her veins, blood boiling from his contact on her skin.

“There is a condition.” He whispered and she was tempted to ask what it was but she didn’t.

“You have to donate fifteen eggs to me.”

ELDRADRAGON

Alaris gulped down the glass of alcohol. All his efforts has yielded fruitless. None of his acquaintances has seen Kaden on the sea. It was as if they vanished into thin air. To make things worst, he couldn’t even track her because he didn’t mark her.

He walked into the room and his eyes landed on an object on the floor. Something he had missed.

He leaned and picked it up it was his wedding wrong to Athena.

“Silly girl.” He swap
