Chapter 19: Kieran's Cabin

Lilith's POV

I paused, wondering if Kieran meant what he said or if he was joking around with me. I had stopped following him and stood there to stare at him.

I was looking at him from top to bottom, trying to figure out if he was the type of person to joke around. And from what I knew about him, I knew that he couldn't be joking.

However, it was news to me hearing that his wolf was sleeping.

I knew off wolves getting tired and retreating to the back of the brain, but not off wolves sleeping.

I'm guessing my questions were visible on my face since Kieran and stopped and stared at me in silence. He finally spoke,

"Fine, you get two questions and that's it. No other questions after that. Deal?"

I shook my head as the first question was already in mind.

"What do you mean that your wolf is asleep and that's when you get some peace of mind?"

"I had spent nearly a week in my wolf form before I attacked your pack and took you. So, with the follow shifts after the first attack, my wolf was getting tired. So, he's gone to sleep and won't be back until he's well rested," he answered, looking at me as he waited for the second question.

Before I even got to ask my question, I took a moment to reflect on his answer and try to see if I can make sense out of it.

Never had I heard that a wolf getting tired and needing to take a rest. However, he wasn't like normal werewolves.

Kieran was of a different bloodline. And that's why he was bigger, faster and better. That explained how he was able to take down atleast ten men in a flash of s second.

After thinking it through for a while, i finally decided to let it go and proceed to my next question.

"What do you mean that your wolf is demanding for me?" I asked, nervously curious to know what he meant by saying that.

Kieran was silent as he looked at me. I could already tell that he knew the answer to that question. He was just choosing not to tell me.

"Come on. You've said two questions and I've asked two questions. Answer the second question," I pushed, sensing that he was looking for ways to avoid answering it.

After what seemed to be a very long deliberation, Kieran finally answered my question.

"My wolf is demanding for you because he says that you're our mate," he finally responded confidently.

I stared at him in disbelief. Shocked to hear him saying those words. Forgetting the deal that we just made with him, I found myself asking yet another question.

"And do you believe that?" I questioned.

Kieran looked at me oddly, almost as if we didn't know each other, before answering me.

"I gave you two questions. You've already used them, so kindly can you now be quiet!"

He wasn't impressed at all with how I had forgotten our agreement. However,.what was bothering me most was Kieran's words.

If his wolf kept on insisting that I was his mate, and he keeps on ignoring it, he was going experience pain like no other.

Back in the pack, I've seen people avoid their wolves when they met their mates and it wasn't fun. They always complained of something from the day they tried shutting up their wolves.

My other worry was, of all the people I could be mated to, it had to be the exiled Alpha?

It didn't seem fair. Especially since for one, he didn't want anything to do with me.

Raising my hands up in defeat, I showed Kieran that I had taken a step back with the questions.

He finally turned and continued with his journey back to the cabin. And for some reason, I found myself following him blindly.

When we got to the door, I realized just how bad I stinked. Smelling myself, I could only compare to the smell coming for a decomposing carcass that was left to rot next to the road.

"Do you have any water?" I asked, starting to imagine how the house didn't have any water and we would have to find somewhere to fetch the water.

Kieran, turning to me once again, answered, "That's another question, but I'll allow. The house has piped water, so you can take a shower for as long as you want."

Walking into the house, I was shocked to see that was well maintained and had some appliances here and there. There were two seats in living room, and a table.

Looking for the bathroom, I stumbled into one of the bedrooms that had clean beddings all wrapped and set on the corner of the bed.

I could already feel my body demanding to be laid down so that I can finally get some rest. But that wasn't going to happen, not until I clean.

Walking into the bathroom and twisting the shower knob, I was surprised that the water could also be heated by the solar panels that were on the roof of the house to provide electricity.

I could hear Kieran walking around he house and took a moment to pause and see if he was a pervert and he was going to try anything concerning.

After making sure that Kieran was not a weird pervert, I took off all my clothes and walked into the clean, warm, running water.

For a few seconds, I let the water rundown my before I started scrubbing myself down.

I took nearly a while half hour scrubbing every inch of my body until I felt like I was clean. Once out of the shower, I found a few shirts and sweatpants on the bed that Kieran had instructed was going to be where I stay.

After I got dressed, I walked back into the living room where no one was in sight. Going into the kitchen, I found Kieran finishing prepared some meals and when he saw me, he looked at me and the rabbit that was placed on the table.

"Do you know how to skin a rabbit?" He asked as he tasted the soup that he was making.

I nodded my head firmly, knowing that he wanted me to help him.

To be honest, I knew how to skin an animal. The only problem was, I didn't want to be in the same room as him, with so many weapons in every corner.

"You're lying," he corrected me, looking at me sternly.

Without another word, he pulled open one of the drawers and pulled out a knife. He placed the knife next to the dead rabbit and went on with his cooking.

The only problem is, instead of doing what he told me, I was still standing by the door looking at him. After a couple of seconds, he turned back on me and then stared at the rabbit.

"It's not going to cook itself. Neither will it skin itself," he said, getting a bit angry and irritated.

I slowly walked into the kitchen and grabbed the knife from the table, I stared at it as I wondered how comfortable Kieran had become. It was all seeming like a trap to me.

When my curiosity finally got the better of me, I turned to Kieran, still with the knife in hand, and asked him,

"Aren't you afraid that I could turn on you and use the knife to kill you?"

As much as it was an unexpected question, Kieran didn't look surprised at all by it.

"Fear is a mentality, and I lack that. It's purpose is to get us to the next day, but it also hinders us. So, I'm not scared of whatever you want to do with that knife. That's entirely up to you."

I was shocked, obviously not expecting Kieran to become Shakespeare for a minute.

"Besides, I've already established that if I was to kill you, I would have already done it by now." He added as he turned his back to me and went on cooking.

Deciding against it, I turned my attention to the rabbit and started skinning it. However, what I didn't know was that Kieran wasn't done talking.

"Why did you come back?" He asked me, out of the blues.

"Huh?"

Of course I didn't believe I just heard him asking that question. So I had him repeat it.

"I took you from your pack the first time, and the second time. Both times without even asking for your consent. Yet, when I gave you the chance to run away, you back. And you can't use the excuse that the forest is filled with traps. That doesn't look like something that would scare you.

So, why did you come back with me?"

Looking for an answer to his question proved harder than I thought it would be.

So, no matter how much I tried looking for a reasonable answer, the only thing I could come up with was,

"I don't know!"
