Chapter 113: The Possibilities Ahead

Freya’s P.O.V

“Up next, Freya Wilder.”

Excited, giddy and a little disoriented, I headed to the stage and accepted my graduation diploma from the Principal. I looked back at the audience, watching Cameron and Sarah clap the loudest in the audience.

I felt a stupid grin stretch on my lips as I help up my diploma in my hands, as if it was some kind of grand prize, before rushing off the stage in embarrassment. Damnit! I really made it didn’t I? I graduated from high school.

I know it wasn’t a big deal for so many people out there, but for me it was. I had nearly given up on my studies, my dreams. I had given up on life itself once. And for me to come all this way…I couldn’t believe I was one of the lucky ones. Not only had I made it to high school graduation, but I was well set for college and I was a couple million dollars richer as well.

Two days after we came back home to the pack house safely, the witches council came to visit me. It was a huge surprise since I had no idea why I was even on their radar. The Council consisted of the five witches from the five most powerful covens and they had helped save my life. But it turns out, since I was the sole survivor of the original Lorenzic coven, who used to be one of the council members, I was also the legitimate owner of the humongous estate that once belonged to my coven.

“Magic remains in the very foundation of that house, even if the people don’t.” Zelda, one of the Chrones had told me. “If you want to, you can still own that house. Or, you can sell it to us. The Council will make sure it is well preserved.”

I had no doubt in my mind that the council wanted to harness the power inside the house, but since I was removed from my family and my powers from the day I was born, I didn’t quiet develop any attachments to that house. So it sounded better to sell the house over to the Council once and for all. Alpha Charles had helped me secure a deal with them and since he was a hardcore businessman at heart, he helped me get the best benefit out of the deal.

Now, I went over to Cameron and Sarah and hugged them in turn as tears gleamed in my eyes.

“Silly girl!” Cameron kissed my cheeks. “I always knew you would make it.”

“Hey!” I scolded him half-heartedly. “Don’t call me silly!”

“Not until you stop undermining yourself and realize just how perfect you are.” Cameron retorted.

“Awww!” Sarah batted her eyelashes at the two of us. “Look at Cameron be all mushy bushy! I wish I was recording this.”

“Don’t you dare!” He gave her a glare before wrapping an arm around my shoulder and pulling me to his side.

Sarah stuck her tongue out at him before she left to get her diploma as her name was announced.

After we all got our certificates and took hundreds of pictures to celebrate our graduation, Sarah, Cameron and I headed back to the pack-house, where we were holding a graduation party for the packmates.

One of the biggest changes that had occurred in the last few months, had been my developing ‘understanding’ with the trio, Trisha, Laura and Cindy. We didn’t see eye to eye on many situations and neither were we best of friends, but still, we could now have a conversation without any insults or hostility.

And once again, Julian and the pack youngsters were left out of the party, since we were now all officially eighteen, and there had been wine and beer snuck into the room. I don’t think the kids minded though, because their parties were even more fun with confetti and trampolines and those huge balloon houses; and they always took place in the clearing behind the woods. Did I mention barbeque? Yup. Definitely way more fun.

“There you are,” Cameron came to sit on the chair next to me by the window. “Why are you sitting here all by yourself?”

“I was just enjoying the view.” I shrugged, pointing out towards the woods and the sea beyond. The sun was setting in the horizon and it cast a golden-red hue over the waters, making it shine like liquid gold.

“Here,” he offered me a glass of soft drinks. “Still not into alcohol?”

“It’s more like having it associated with all the bad memories in my life.” I told Cameron truthfully. “My father was an alcoholic…”

The topic was still a sore one, especially because my father had passed away last month after being on life support this entire time. The doctors said that he had lost his will to live a long time ago. The machines were just helping his heart beat, but that too had given up.

I don’t know what exactly I had been waiting for. Probably for him to get better one day and apologize for all his wrong doings? To give me a hug and tell me he loved me? To tell Julian that he loved him and would be with him from now on? There were countless things that he still had to do…but his death also brought a kind of relief for me. Relief that now, after all this time, he was finally with my mother.

“So…father was thinking that we attend college in New York.” Cameron changed the topic to my relief. “I’ll be studying business, of course. Sarah will be too, since we’re going to be future business partners. What about you? Have you decided yet?”

“I’m going to be a complete cliché and say that I want to study English Lit.” I gave him a cheeky smile. “I want to be a writer.”

“Now that’s interesting.” Cameron raised his eyebrows at me. “I thought you wanted to be a teacher?”

“I don’t think being a teacher is really going to be my thing,” I shrugged. “I honestly don’t have the patience for that and I want to write stories that would leave an impact on people. I want to write love stories for people who think they are at the edge and that there’s no way out for them. I want to tell everyone that love exists and how it can change a person’s life, if it’s the right person.”

“Inspirational and romantic.” He grinned, taking my hand in his. “I like the idea.”

“Maybe I can throw in a few fiction stories in the mix?” I teased. “Werewolves and vampires and an epic battle to win the girl of their dreams?”

There were countless possibilities in front of me now and I wasn’t shying away from those possibilities any longer. I wanted to do so much in my life now! I wanted to make people laugh and believe in love and in themselves. I wanted everyone to feel happy when they would read my books. I wanted people to know that wanting to end their life was not the answer they were looking for and that there was always hope.

Cameron scrunched his nose. “I don’t like that particular idea, but I know where I can be more useful.”

“Where?”

A wide grin spread on his face suddenly and I instantly knew that I was going to regret asking him that question. “Writing sex scenes.”
