Chapter 93: A Perfect Family Man

After Eliana finished her shower upstairs, she found Chase tidying up the dining table.

Initially, she had pegged him as a typical macho guy. But living together revealed his surprising domestic skills—he not only handled household chores but also cooked and brought in money. He was a rare find—a perfect family man!

Glancing up from his task, Chase remarked, "You really hate cleaning. We might need to hire a maid."

Was he hinting that he'd leave once his contract was up, implying she should start hiring help?

Eliana scoffed. "It's only messy because of you. When I live alone, it's never this chaotic."

Chase shot her a narrow-eyed look and headed into the kitchen with the trash bag.

What he really meant was that once they moved to New York, she'd have plenty of maids at her beck and call.

...

Back at the office, Eliana returned to find her desk buried under piles of documents. Sierra walked in with coffee in hand.

"Ms. Griffith, there's news," Sierra whispered, as if divulging classified intel.

Eliana chuckled at Sierra's secretive demeanor. "Spill it. No bugs here."

"Vanessa has opened a company right across from our office floor!"

Griffith Enterprise wasn't huge, but it occupied three floors in a high-end office unit. The office space across from theirs used to belong to an entertainment company, but Vanessa snagged it after they moved out.

Before Eliana and Sierra could discuss further, Colin stormed in looking grim. "Your stepsister is causing a scene. Should we get security to kick them out?"

Eliana raised an eyebrow and stood up. "No need. Since she's here in person, we should greet her."

In the company lobby, Vanessa brought over a plate of snacks, flaunting her new business.

Standing at the entrance with Jeremy, she gestured to her new employees. "Hey everyone, this is my old office. Feel free to drop by anytime."

Griffith Enterprise employees looked shocked upon seeing them. Everyone knew about the drama between the company CEO and her stepsister. No wonder so many senior staff had quit recently—they'd jumped ship to Vanessa's side.

But wasn't Jeremy dating the CEO? How could he be with Vanessa? Employees speculated wildly about their closeness.

Hearing the whispers, Vanessa felt smug. She'd brought Jeremy here just to embarrass Eliana in front of her employees.

High heels clicked as Eliana approached, her posture straight and her gaze icy. She looked at the snacks on the front desk and scoffed, "Is this what passes for a grand opening? Can't even compete with our regular snacks."

Vanessa had brought meager food to embarrass Eliana, but now she herself became a laughingstock.

However, she shot back with a retort ready. "Sis, let me share some good news. The moment I started my business, Jimmy helped me secure a major deal with Wilkinson Group's main office. I've crunched the numbers—even if my company doesn't operate, I'll still hit the jackpot. See? My husband is the real deal! What can your broke hubby do for you?"

Jeremy straightened proudly at the mention of the multimillion-dollar contract.

"He could seal a million-dollar worth of a deal, and Chase couldn't. That's the difference between him and the broke boxer."

Rolling her eyes, Eliana replied, "Don't get too cocky. He used to land me three multimillion-dollar contracts. And look what I got left now? Who knows when he'll disappoint you?"

"I totally get your feelings, sis. Things you can't have will always bother you!" Vanessa smirked confidently, thinking Eliana must be jealous.

Eliana glanced mockingly at Jeremy and didn't even bother to respond.

Colin, nearby, was disgusted by Vanessa. "Who's jealous of you? What you have is a worthless philanderer!"

Before he could drag Eliana away, Sierra hurried over, her voice raised in excitement. "Ms. Griffith, just got a call. The CEO of Wilkinson Group wants to discuss a ten-million-dollar deal with us!"

Everyone present froze, especially Vanessa and Jeremy. Wasn't this news a direct slap in their faces?

"It has to be fake!"

"How could the CEO of Wilkinson Group notice someone as insignificant as Eliana?"

Vanessa sneered, "Sis, trying to save face by having your assistant shout fake news? Aren't you embarrassed?"

Jeremy agreed. "Exactly! Mr. Wilkinson is so mysterious; you'd never get to meet him even if you tried. But if you want to meet him, maybe you could ask me nicely?"

Eliana chuckled inwardly. She had Ethan Wilkinson's private number. Did she really need Jeremy's help?

Jeremy continued teasingly, "Maybe I'll be generous and introduce you two."

Hearing this, Vanessa felt a bit worried, afraid that Jeremy would really help Eliana. So she interjected, "Jimmy, that's enough. We should head back now."

Having achieved their goal, Vanessa and Jeremy left, feeling triumphant. But as they reached the entrance, a tall figure blocked their way.

Both froze, especially Jeremy, whose face turned pale.

Why was Mr. Wilkinson here? Did he really know Eliana? Jeremy wondered.

Vanessa, startled by the masked man before her, couldn't help but think, Who wears a mask in broad daylight? Definitely a weirdo!

Annoyed, she said, "Hey, move, weirdo. Get out of my way..."

Jeremy swiftly covered Vanessa's mouth. "Shut up! Don't be disrespectful."

Eliana's eyes widened in disbelief at the familiar figure. Was it really Mr. Wilkinson?

Puzzled, Vanessa saw the man's imposing presence. But somehow, she felt that this man looked like Eliana's broke husband.

Pushing Jeremy's hand aside, she frowned. "What's wrong, Jimmy? This guy must be the one Eliana called to play tricks. Let's uncover his mask and see who he really is!"

Eliana raised an eyebrow coldly. The one playing games would soon be exposed!

Jeremy quickly stopped Vanessa and nervously greeted, "Mr. Wilkinson, what brings you here?"

Chase, wearing a mask, had sharp eyes that pierced through. "You're not in the office during work hours, but here. Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?"

As the CEO, he had the freedom to come and go, while Jeremy, as a branch's acting CEO, didn't have the right to leave his post at will.

Jeremy hurriedly smiled, "I took a day off today to attend my fiancée's grand opening. If you have time, Mr. Wilkinson, why not join us?"
