Chapter 62: Tracking her down
Zara’s POV
In the van where she’d been kidnapped, Zara begged, “What’s going on? Who are you? Please let me go!” But they wouldn’t budge. With a sack over her head, she could barely breathe. Suddenly, the vehicle came to a halt. Before she could scream again, something stung her neck she was drugged.
When she came to, she found herself tied tightly to a chair with thick ropes. The sack was ripped off her head, and before her stood a group of terrifying men with cold, mocking eyes.
“Where am I? Let me go right this instant! Who sent you?” she demanded, her voice trembling with fear.
They didn’t answer only sneered. Then, a voice echoed from behind them.
“I sent them.”
Her heart skipped. That voice… she knew it.
When the man stepped out of the shadows, her eyes widened.
“Blake… sir?” she whispered.
He knelt before her with a smirk. “I told you not to call me sir.”
“Why am I here?” she asked nervously, trying to pull away as he reached out to touch her face.
“I just want Adrian,” he said bitterly. “The husband you chose over me.”
He stood up and stormed out, leaving Zara surrounded by his men their eyes cold, their stance threatening, as if she could somehow break free from the ropes binding her.
Adrian’s POV
Adrian wasn’t going to stand around waiting for some coward’s call while Zara was in danger. He raced back to his tracking team.
“Sir, why are you here?” one of them asked as he burst in.
“Track that number now!” he barked, pacing restlessly, worry written all over his face.
Moments later, one of them shouted, “Sir, we’ve found it!”
Adrian rushed to the screen, eyes narrowing as he saw the location. Without hesitation, he grabbed his helmet.
“I’ll catch you, you bastard,” he muttered. “Zara, I’m coming to save you.”
He rode off at full speed, parking far from the hideout. Moving silently through the shadows, he spotted guards stationed around the place. One by one, he took them down swift and precise his heart pounding with one thought only: find Zara.
Then Adrian spotted a room heavily guarded and something told him Zara was inside. His heart raced. Without hesitation, he lunged forward. Before the guards could even react, he struck them down one by one. They weren’t easy opponents, but his rage and desperation fueled every blow until the last man hit the ground.
Adrian kicked the door open and there she was.
“Adrian…” Zara gasped, disbelief and relief flooding her voice. She had known, deep down, he would come. “Adrian!” she called again, tears welling in her eyes.
He rushed to her side, quickly untying the ropes. “Zara, are you okay?” he asked breathlessly.
The moment she was free, Zara threw her arms around him, trembling as tears streamed down her cheeks. She clung to him tightly, terrified but safe at last.
“Nothing’s going to happen to you,” Adrian whispered, his voice steady but soft. “I’ve got you now.”
“I’m so sorry,” she sobbed, her voice cracking. “I didn’t even listen to you…”
“Shh,” he murmured, gently patting her back, holding her as if he’d never let go. “It’s over. You’re safe.”
But just as the moment settled, a mocking voice echoed from the shadows, slow, amused, venomous.
“Wow,” Blake drawled, stepping into the light. “That was romantic… and very sweet.”
