Chapter 250

Alia POV

"Knowing I'm your brother, yet you're still being so polite with me." Nicola pulled me along as he walked, saying that as real siblings, there was no need for such formalities.

Nicola led me back to his home, excitedly saying: "Alia, this is my home in Portano, and naturally it's your home too. Remember, if Marco ever makes you suffer any grievances in the future, come running to your brother, and I'll go deal with him. See that room over there? I prepared it especially for you."

I glared at him again and said: "What kind of brother are you, hoping for your sister and brother-in-law to have problems."

"You little girl." Nicola felt so wronged - he wasn't hoping for my misfortune, he was trying to tell me that I had a brother to rely on.

"I know you mean well, I'm just teasing you." I pulled on Nicola's arm and gave him a bright smile, "You're my brother after all, so naturally you should indulge me a little."

"Now that's what I like to hear. I'll indulge you from now on." While speaking, Nicola poured me a glass of water and added, "Do you want to take a good tour of my home first, or should we get straight to business?"

I could tour the house anytime, but Andre was pressing too hard, and I knew I didn't have much time, so I said: "Let's talk business first."

Since I wanted to work with Nicola to avenge our father, I naturally wouldn't hide anything from him, and I told him everything I knew in detail.

After listening, Nicola's expression became serious. After a long silence, he punched the coffee table in front of him and angrily said: "Does Andre think there are no men left in our family?"

"Brother, don't get excited. What's done is done, and getting angry won't help. We need to find a way to get evidence of his murder so we can avenge father." I also wanted to avenge the suffering I endured - I couldn't let myself suffer all that torment for nothing.

"Alia, you... suffered so much." Nicola gritted his teeth as he squeezed out these words.

That old bastard Andre - if he had guts, he should have come after him instead of targeting a defenseless woman. What kind of man was that?

He used to think Andre was highly respected and virtuous, but it turned out he was nothing but scum.

During this time, to help me recover my memory, Nicola had researched extensively about the drugs used by Dragon Country's military on spies.

He had seen how people injected with those drugs suffered unbearably, living a fate worse than death. Anyone who survived had taken a trip to death's door.

The more he thought about it, the angrier Nicola became, but what good did anger do?

They weren't Andre's match in a direct confrontation, so they could only find evidence of Andre's crimes and make it public. Then, even if the Vittorio family had connections reaching the heavens, they couldn't withstand public pressure.

Nicola turned and went back to his room. When he came out again, he had a ring in his hand - a ring identical to the one I held.

He said: "Father gave me this ring a few days before his accident. I was still young then and don't remember exactly what he said, but I remember he told me to keep this ring safe no matter what."

"Brother..." I nervously swallowed and paused before continuing, "Can these two rings really help us find the truth about father's murder?"

Nicola held the two rings together, examining them inside and out. They were completely smooth without even a single engraved character.

He said: "Alia, think carefully again. When your mother gave you the ring, besides telling you to give it to someone you could entrust your life to, did she say anything else?"

I tried hard to recall the scene when mother gave me this ring in the hospital, but no matter how I thought about it, I couldn't remember anything else.

Nicola continued: "I've been thinking carefully too, but too much time has passed. I never thought that would be the last time father would speak to me, so I wasn't really listening. It was only when he scolded me that I heard him tell me to keep the ring safe."

Nicolo Paladino had been dead for over twenty years. He gave the ring to Nicola before his death.

After twenty-some years, how could Nicola still remember what father had said?

As for my ring, mother gave it to me after I had grown up and could remember things. Not too much time had passed, so I might still be able to recall some clues.

The events from twenty-some years ago - both siblings were still small and hadn't been involved.

The only clue I could think of was this ring mother left behind. How could such a small ring hide secrets?

The siblings looked at each other, then both looked at the rings simultaneously. After staring at the rings for a while, both suddenly had the same realization.

Me: "Brother, do you think it could be..."

Nicola: "Alia, do you think... you go first."

I said: "Look, these two rings are obviously a couple's set. They should be tokens of their love. Mom had father's men's ring, and father had mom's women's ring. Could these two rings be pointing to some location?"

"Right, that should be it." Nicola thought for a moment and said, "They grew up together since childhood, childhood sweethearts with a wonderful relationship. I think they're trying to tell us to look where they used to date frequently. The clues might be hidden there."

After reaching this conclusion, we quickly overthrew it ourselves.

Montrano had developed so rapidly that places from decades ago had long been demolished. How could we possibly find their old dating spots?

I picked up the two rings again and examined them repeatedly. They were just ordinary rings - I really couldn't see anything special about them.

Nicola continued: "Kane said he made a video of his conversation with Andre and sent it to father. Twenty-some years ago, when network technology wasn't so advanced, how did he transmit the video to father?"

I said: "Brother, if we find the transmission method, we'll have a direction to search."

Perhaps by finding the video transmission method, we could locate that original video recording. Could the direction these two rings point to be telling us to look for the video recording?

As I thought about it, my eyes suddenly lit up, and I continued: "Brother, what if these two rings themselves are the data?"

Nicola was stunned, then excitedly clapped his hands: "Maybe these two rings are special chips, and we just need to find a way to read the data from them."

I nodded and said: "Father gave you the ring, mother gave me the ring, having us keep them separately. Even if Andre snatched one away, we'd still have some clues."

Nicola said: "Then let's quickly find computer technology professionals to help us examine them. Maybe we can find the truth."

I said: "No. Andre definitely still has people watching us. If we go looking for help, his people might very well steal our only clues."

Nicola thought for a moment and said: "Then let's ask Marco. He has so many capable people under him. Testing whether these two rings are made from precision chips would definitely be no problem."

I shook my head and said: "Brother, I hope we can solve this matter ourselves without involving Marco."
