Chapter 38

AUTHOR'S POV

“What the fuck is going on?”

Bianca bit her lips, staring at her phone which was carelessly placed on the table. As soon as she picked it up, her hand trembled and it fell on the floor.

The screen cracked slightly, making her gnash her teeth.

“This bitch is bad luck, I shouldn't have agreed to work with her”

She picked up the phone, hurriedly dialing a number.

“Has he called you?” Her voice trembled with each word she spoke.

There was a pause from the other end of the phone.

“No…”

“No?!” Bianca's voice came out shrill.

“Chillax, Bi, this is not my first time, and I really trust him, he won't fuck this up”

“You are relaxed because you don't know what sort of man Damian is….”

Duu, duu, duu

Bianca was interrupted by the sound of the other party hanging up.

She stared at the screen of her phone in disbelief, eyes wide.

“This bitch!”  A loud roar escaped from her lips and the phone flew from her hand in an arc, landing on the wall and smashing into smitherings.

“Fuck… fuck”

She paced round the room, her hands trembling as she chewed on her nails.

There was a commotion outside the room, even though the room she was in was slightly noise proof, she could still hear the noises.

“Damian”

She threw on a jacket and rushed out of the room, forgetting to put on her slippers as she rushed down the stairs.

“Bring the goddamn doctor!, I don't care if he is on vacation, find him and drag him here!”

Damian's voice boomed in the hall of the house.

Bianca felt the life slip out of her when she saw his crazed state.

His white long sleeved shirt was half buttoned and stained in blood, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

In his arms was an unconscious woman who Bianca recognised as Brenda.

“Damian, what's going on?, what happened to Brenda?” Bianca asked, rushing towards him.

He shoved her away, pulling Brenda protectively into his arms as he glared at Bianca with his blood red eyes.

“How dare you?!” Bianca gulped, moving back, her body trembling.

“Boss, the doctor is here” Marcus said in a respectful tone, maintaining a distance.

Right now, Damian had lost himself and he was already in “possessive mood”, anyone who went close to him would be seen as a threat to Brenda.

“Good, bring him upstairs.” Damian ordered, climbing the stairs in huge strides, Brenda still in his arms.

Bianca watched the scene, her heart pounding loudly.

“No…, no..” she mumbled to herself.

Taking one last look at them, she climbed up the stairs too and headed into her room.

She rushed and picked up her phone, on seeing that it had been smashed beyond repair, she gritted her teeth, throwing it one more at the wall.

“Useless bitch!!”

……

“Mrs Adams is fine, she just needs more rest, to watch her nutrition and please… water should not touch her wounds.” The doctor rattled off to Damian who listened attentively like he was in a classroom and the grey haired doctor was his favourite teacher.

After some more words, the man packed his equipment and walked out of the room, followed by Marcus who went to see him off.

“Thank you.” Brenda's raspy voice came softly.

Damian glanced at her, he had regained his indifferent and cold expression.

Gone was the man who promised to rain hell on earth if something happened to his wife.

“You don't have to bother, after all, you became like this because of my carelessness.” He said stiffly, looking away.

Brenda flashed a weak smile but she didn't say anything.

Remembering his words earlier at the warehouse, her ears turned red.

Damian coughed softly, then glanced at her.

“I'm leaving now to settle some things, I will assign two maids to take care of you, make sure you listen to them.”

After saying this, he walked out of the room, his black boots making thumping sounds on the floor.

Brenda watched his leaving back, the smile leaving her lips.

Was she overthinking?

….

“Boss, we have him locked up in the underground torture room, how should we…” Marcus began the instant he sighted Damian coming towards him.

“I will do it myself,” Damian answered, still not stopping.

A look of surprise crossed Marcus’ face.

“Sorry?”

Damian stopped, a frigid look in his eyes.

“Are you deaf?”

Marcus shook his head hurriedly . “No, I was just…”

But Damian bypassed him, ignoring his tirade as he marched straight into the underground torture room, hostility radiating off his body.

The dim light was the only illumination in this small room that had blood splattered all over its walls and floor.

A bloodied man was chained tightly to the wall, his body would have directly been on the floor if not for the shackles that held him upright.

“Wake him up.” Damian's voice came out cold.

Toby, the teenager in charge of the torture room didn't need to be told twice and soon a bucket of chilling cold water was poured all over the man.

“Who the fuck…”

He woke up with a jolt, voice choking in his throat when he saw Damian, the king of hell in front of him.

Damian smirked, pulling a chair over and directly planting himself on it, a smirk on his lips.

“Benjamin?, am I right?” He asked.

The man's pupils constricted. “How do you know my name?” He hissed, pulling on the chain which made a loud rattling sound in the room.

Damian breathed out softly, tapping his finger patiently on his lap.

“Not only do I know that you are a fugitive, I also know that you have a 10 years old daughter and a wife with cancer…”

“You beast!, what do you want?” Benjamin roared, trying to pounce on Damian but the chain held him in place.

Damian looked unmoved, then the smirk was wiped off his face.

He stood up from the chair, his fingers reaching for a small cross bow, then he aimed it at Benjamin.

“Nothing, I just want to teach you that you can't touch what belongs to Damian Adams and go scott free.”
