Chapter 102: One hundred and two- Erasmus' madness

ERASMUS

Several times in the past, I have been told that my name didn’t fit me. That I should have been named something less alluring, something befitting a low life.

Initially, I blamed myself for that situation. I was so certain that if I hadn’t been born, the poor family I grew up in wouldn’t have named me Erasmus. But… when I met Edward Storm by mere chance, I realised who I had to blame.

Evelyn Storm.

Unfortunately, she is dead now, so I can’t make her pay for abandoning me when she had every riches and resources in this world to take care of me the way she cared for Nathaniel. Or maybe things would have been better if she had abandoned Nathaniel and not me.

Whatever. My point is, I have to leave this place. I was finally on track to regain the life I am meant to have. I can’t end it here. I even killed the woman I love to get this far, I really can’t end it here.

“Hey!’ I screamed at the cop who passed by my holding cell. “You’ve got the wrong man. How many times do I have to tell you?! Just get Edward Storm on the phone. You’ll find out the truth!”

“Shut it before I stuff your mouth with my baton!” the detective who led my arrest screamed from his desk, and I flipped him with both hands. “You think you are king here? You filthy human. You are going to rot in jail for eternity.”

“Detective, please,” someone around the angry man tried to fan his comical anger. “Don’t get worked up.”

“Eternity?” I laughed. “For what? Setting fire to the forests? That wasn’t me? That was my twin. He’s super obsessed with her.”

“You…” The detective slammed his fists on his desk and stormed out after snatching a cigarette pack and lighter from a nearby desk.

“Allow me to speak to Edward Storm, and you won’t hear a word more from me,” I said in case one of them was wise enough to listen to me. “If not, you’ll regret this.”

No one replied. They all pretended not to hear me.

Fine.

They can do as they please. I’ll be out of here soon anyway.

It’s not like they can gather Sarah’s ashes to bring her back to life and ask her questions.

About Sarah, though…

I wonder what she would have thought about my real name. She did seem interested in it.

“Oh…” My heart broke, and my voice showed it. “My cappuccino. Why did you have to refuse me?” Slowly, I dragged out her panties from inside my briefs. I had to stuff it there so the cops wouldn’t find it. “This is all I have of you, Sarah.” Her scent was still on it, which gladdened me. But it also saddened me because I never got to make love to her.

Maybe I’ll find a look-alike to replace her once I get settled in Nathaniel’s life. It won’t be the same, but it would work.

With the right imagination, I can pretend I’m kissing Sarah while our bodies meet to feel the grips of pleasure.

I mean, I did get to kiss her in the hospital. If only she hadn’t heard me make that phone call while we were fake-searching for her brat. Our lives could have been so complete and perfect right now.

I’m sure I would have even gotten her pregnant. It would have been so amazing to make our own Raya. I bet our version would be cuter than the one she had with Nathaniel.

“Hey!” It was the angry detective. He was back, but his delicious anger was nowhere to be found.

“Is Edward on the phone for me?” That old man would be very pleased to hear how far my plan has come. Now, while I become Nathaniel, he can secure all the wealth without worrying about anybody working against him.

“You are quite stupid to think that you would get the grace of making a call after the gruesome things you’ve done,” he replied, his hands clenching the irons of the gate, while the name tag on his shirt caught my attention.

With ticking fury, I clenched my jaw and said, “Nate? You are Nate?”

“That’s Detective Nate, you prick. And you are done for.”

“Again, Sarah’s death. I didn’t do it-”

“You idiot. Who said anything about Sarah’s death? Of course, you’ll be charged for the hell you put that victim through.”

I think this man has lost his mind. Very typical of people named Nate or Nathaniel.

“I have the right to make a call.”

“Drag him to the investigation room. Whether he confesses or not, we already have enough evidence against him.”

“I said, I have the right to make-”

“You lost that right the moment you killed Rosaline Pierce!” The detective hollered, and I scoffed because he clearly and foolishly thought he could tame me with such lame shit. “And oh, next time you want to escape from the crime scene, don’t forget to uninstall the surveillance system you set up to watch your victims.”

“What?” My head sparked immediately. “No.” The detective smirked while the gate was unlocked by two cops who were eager to cuff me. “You saw everything?”

“You still think you have that right? Do you still want to impersonate Nathaniel Storm?”

Wow. I just can’t stop getting these challenges.

“Detective,” I called as the cops forced me to my feet.

“Save your nonsense for the questioning.”

“About Sarah…”

“What?”

“In that footage, didn’t she look so beautiful?”

“Huh?”

“I wish Rosaline had just done what I asked her to. That day was the day I planned to fuck Sarah. If that had happened, maybe you would have had fun watching it since you clearly act like a man deprived of pleasure. “

“Are you out of your mind?” he lost his shit all over again, and I loved it so much that I laughed like the world wasn’t listening. “You’re lucky the law is holding us back.”

“Or what? You’ll kill me? Clearly, you don’t know how powerful I am. Regardless of what you saw, I am still Nathaniel Storm. I can destroy you with-”

A loud smack shut me up. One of the men who cuffed my hands was the fool who did that.

“You are done for, you fucking bastard,” the man seethed, his babyish face managing to shut me up. “Your ID scan exposed your real identity, so cut out the theatrics.”

“Fuck.” I swore beneath my breath and listened to him.

But within my silence, I was plotting.

I have had obstacles in the past. Well, they were not as huge as this, but I’ve always surmounted them. This one won’t be any different.

And if worst comes to worst, I’ll just join Sarah in the other world. That way, I get to win against Nathaniel by a lot.
